I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you have no other options.
I was checking in past midnight in the middle of a road trip, and this was the only place that took pets ($25 fee). It was plenty of parking and the room was clean enough, so the hotel served its purpose for me. But unless you have no other options, and you like paying $130 for a bed and nothing else... GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
There is no elevator to the second floor, and multiple heavy doors between the parking lot and the second floor hallway, so after an exhausting day I had to carry everything up in four trips. DO NOT come here if you have a physical disability or any health issues that make going through side doors and up a flight of stairs difficult or impossible. Don't be fooled by the cart at the front entrance, you can't use it.
Breakfast is served strictly between 6:30am and 10am, and consists solely of milk, cereal, and oatmeal. I understand coronavirus restrictions, and trust me, even now that the country has opened up, and I am vaccinated, I still wear my mask, and with my siblings consisting of a doctor and an emergency preparedness expert, I think I have a pretty good grasp on the ins and outs of necessary actions on the part of business and individual for public health and safety. So take all of that into consideration that this is a blatant cost-saving ploy by a cheap hotel under the guise of coronavirus precautions. I've been to other hotels during the peak of COVID, and they at least had grab and go options. Don't come here if you are lactose intolerant or or have dietary restrictions or have IBS or don't eat dairy or don't like milk and cereal.
HOWEVER, nowhere does it say breakfast ends at 10am. There are no signs or anything in the bedrooms or on the paperwork. And don't expect your front desk attendant to tell you that the hotel has a strict policy of ending the cereal and milk bonanza at 10am. Then if you come down at all after 10am, expect to be talked to patronizingly and treated like a disobedient child trying to shirk the rules, and to be told that it doesn't matter that no one told you breakfast ends at 10am, because someone should have, and that is my problem. And it doesn't matter that there are no signs saying the hours, because those are their rules, that's my problem. I even had some cereal in my car from the road, so ultimately just asked for some milk and said that I could get my personal cereal. I don't know why I was so taken aback when I asked if I could at least have some milk, and the woman again repeated that breakfast ended at 10am and there was nothing she could do about it. (Note that she was a manager, and of course could easily do something about it.) I was so hungry and thirsty I actually started crying. She told me that I could get milk from the mini mart, but then it was $4.50 and after already spending $130 to stay there, I was tapped out. This super nice guest bought it for me, which the manager did not like.
The whole place smells damp and musky.
There are large sections under construction, for which you are not given a heads up. Don't be surprised to turn a corner and, with no warning, find a hallway under construction and to be told the only way to the front desk is that you have to go outside and walk around the hotel and enter in the front doors again.
There is a TV in the room, but no guide for the channels, either on the TV or next to it.
The "toiletries" provided (shampoo, lotion, hand sanitizer) are the smallest I've ever seen. The containers are no bigger than a pinky finger. And there is only a bar soap that leaves a layer on your hands and skin that won't rinse off no matter how many times you try.
The manager is nice but has a horrible attitude, so plan on asking any questions you have of the construction crew.
The room phone doesn't call...
Read moreThis hotel is completely outdated. There were no fire sprinklers in any of the rooms. There were exposed wires from the wall behind the dresser. We had a group and stayed in three separate rooms. The entire hotel smelled “musty”. Even though the hotel was listed as a non-smoking facility the entire place smelled like smoke. There are no fridges or microwaves in the rooms although we were informed for a higher rate you could get a room with these amenities. The description described is deceiving. The night staff front desk worked had her own children swimming in the pool unattended while she tended to the desk. Breakfast was cold cereal and juice. The coffee tasted old. The bathtubs in at least two of the rooms were completely ridiculous. One room had turn knobs that were reversed, and the bathtub drained so slow that you had six inches of water in the tub while showering. My daughters took cold showers because the lever for our bathroom was “special” to say the least. There was no hot water unless you hit a specific spot. That was exceedingly difficult to find as an adult let alone a child. None of the rooms had a/c units that were efficient. The vent guards were all missing and exposed. I arrived at 4 PM and turned the unit on the highest settings. Hours later the room was slightly cooler, but the cold air did not circulate the room whatsoever. Unless you were right in front of the unit you could not feel the air. We went to open our window because it was cooler outside then in our room but there was no screen. My sisters room had remnants of dead insects stuck on the wall. The pool was the main reason we chose this hotel and lack of availability elsewhere but for less money we could have stayed somewhere else with more amenities and a mini fridge in the room. The woman who checked me in was rude and got irritated when she could not hear me (as I had a mask on because of covid mandates). She was rude, acted irritated, and I had called the previous day to confirm some details with her and she asked who I spoke to. I stated I did not know it was whoever was there at the desk the previous day at approximately this time and she got an attitude stating it would have been her and she didn’t remember talking to me. The maintenance man was always in and out of rooms but always lurking in the halls. I never seen him actually “working” on anything. None of the employees were wearing masks and in the state of Indiana masks are required. Barely any of the guests wore masks as well. There was no compliance in this matter. The mattresses were old and uncomfortable. The pool area was creepy and there is no sauna like stated in the amenities. Do not waste your money staying here if you want comfort away from home and good friendly service. Take your money elsewhere and get a good night’s rest on a real mattress. Would not recommend this hotel unless you have no other option. Worst of all being a Ramada by Wyndham you have certain expectations and NONE of them were met with our stay and experience. Extremely disappointed for the...
Read moreThe poor rating is for the following reasons. I checked into one room, warm ac unit, musky, moldy smell coming from it, missing front cover and dial. Outdated and also had stains on the walls. Went back to front desk to ask for another room. They moved me to a new room that they had just cleaned. This room had a poor rating also based on the following: for a room just cleaned it hardly looked clean. The clerk at the front desk told us that they had hard water accounting for the stains, and also these are the original ac units from the hotel opened up accounting for why they were not in good working order. The ac unit dials would just spin around and also had a musky, moldy smell coming from it. There was yellow stains in the toilet, cracks in bathtub, peeling wallpaper and well as stains on the wallpaper and ceiling. I checked in at 4:30 and put luggage in room, went to eat, came back room was still warm, musky smell after ac was on the whole time. Stayed outside because of the smell, saw another guest who told us he had the same problems with his room and was checking out to go to the Holiday Inn down the road. In walking around the hotel we noticed brand new ac units in the boxes in the storage area (the main lobby had a new unit). I noticed that some rooms are being converted to small boutiques, as well as in the back of the hotel families were living here because of toys and patio furniture there. It is now 8:15 and we go to the desk and if I could have a refund because we we only there for 4 hours and checkout due to the poor quality of room. I went back to the front desk and told them that the rooms were not acceptable ( there was no way we could sleep in the room with the smell and no cool air) and proceeded to checkout to find another hotel to stay at. When leaving the hotel we talked to several other guests who noted the same problems as I with their rooms. Even though the hotel is conveniently located just off the exit, and is a AAA approved hotel, restaurants are located far away I would not recommend to stay here. I would recommend that before bringing your belongs into the hotel room, check the room first when your receive your key to make sure it is up to standards that way you can leave if you have to. This hotel should not have a AAA and Wyndham affiliated with your name because the are not up to the...
