I cannot begin to express how amazing our experience with the Stone Chalet has been. We did a full-room buyout for our wedding weekend and had the most incredible time. Every single member of the staff was kind, professional, and hard-working. My wedding day was the most beautiful day of my life thanks to the dedication of Daisy, Ruby, Vincent, and the entire team at Stone Chalet! I watched for two days as every person here worked so hard to make sure that we all had everything we needed to have a beauitful event!
The pre-event communication is absolutely amazing! I had about a million different needs and questions and Daisy made sure everything was answered and taken care of. I knew nothing about planning a wedding so this team played a huge roll in making sure that all the details were put together to create a wedding weekend that was smooth and beautiful.
My guests have been raving about the beautiful atmosphere of the Stone Chalet, the amazing staff, the delicious breakfasts, and the overall charming quality that this hotel/venue holds. I don't think I heard a single complaint throughout the entire weekend! The rooms are absolutely beautiful and are so much fun with their themes and decorations. When you stay here, you feel like you are staying in a romantic dream land filled with magical treasures hidding in every space! There are lots of indoor and outdoor spaces for guests to sit and relax, which I absolutely loved!
As for the service you'll receive in regards to the wedding, WOW WOW WOW!!!!!!!! I felt like a princess that was surrounded by an amazing team of professionals dedicated to creating a beautiful event. I had very little to do with the set up of the ceremony and reception space. I brought them all of the things I had for decorations and they put together spaces so beautiful that I actually cried the first time I saw them. Daisy and Ruby were there every step of the way to make sure everything went as smooth as possible on the day of my wedding. The day was litereally PERFECT! There were smooth transitions between ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and they even managed to capture the most AMAZING pictures and videos on the day of.
Whether you're looking for a cozy, romantic hotel or an increidble event venue, the Stone Chalet comes highly recommended from this bride and every guest we had staying with us throughout the weekend. You will be so beyond happy with your choices if you pick the Stone Chalet! I owe them all the biggest thank yous in the world for being a major part of my wedding and given me the gift of a stress-free wedding day. I love you all and keep up the...
Read moreMy husband and I recently booked a reservation for our upcoming 15th wedding anniversary. The Stone Chalet looked like a lovely B&B with nice reviews. After I booked the reservation a few weeks ago, my husband decided to reach out to the B&B to add the Honeymoon Deluxe Package as a surprise. The website listed the package at $360 and could be added after reserving the room. After emailing back and fourth with guest services, the facility informed my husband that the price listed on the website was "pre-pandemic" prices and they were currently updating the price to $475 and would he like to book at the new price? My husband said he was confused why they were suddenly trying to upcharge him. Guest services forwarded his number to the owner and my husband then spoke with Daisy.
Daisy was very rude to him on the phone. She continuously cut him off mid-sentence while raising her voice at him. Daisy told him that they will just cancel our reservation and said she was going to hand the phone to her husband, Vincent.
My husband then recounted the situation to Vincent, letting him know that he wanted to add the special package as a surprise to me. Vincent, while not nearly as rude as his wife, stood firmly on the suddenly updated price and that we can continue with the cancellation. Apparently they would rather lose our nearly $600 reservation plus extras than to honor the original package price (a difference of $115.)
Shortly after the phone conversation, I received a text from Daisy and Vincent stating "Due to a discussion with your husband we have been requested to cancel your reservation. We really hope we can serve you in the future as we are disappointed in this situation from an honest mistake."
Shortly after that, Vincent texted my husband saying he reflected upon the conversation they had twenty minutes previously and would now like to honor the lower price, but we feel it is too little too late, and our trust in their business was already ruined.
So not only did they upset my husband, but they also spoiled the surprise my husband was planning.
As someone with over a decade of customer service, I would expect that they would either honor the original price or discontinue the package. That aside, the most upsetting part of the entire situation is the rude way both owners spoke with my husband and ruined the surprise. We will not be staying at the...
Read moreThis bed and breakfast was, for the most part, very nice. Our room (China/Huntsman) was clean and our stay was quiet and the food was pretty good. The kitchen staff were lovely. I stayed with my partner last night while we travel across the US.
The reason I leave a mixed review is first because our shower did not work well. The water was a dribble. There did not appear to be anyone available to talk to about this.
The second reason is the more important one. Less than a block away from the Stone Chalet were men standing on both sides of Washtenaw Avenue picketing. As we drew closer to them, my partner and I realized that they were holding signs that displayed extremist anti-Semitic content. One sign read “Gas Chambers….? Really????”
If anyone at the Stone Chalet knew that there were anti-Semitic picketers standing a short distance away from the doors, someone should have warned us before we arrived. I find it very hard to believe that the Stone Chalet did not know about these men, as they had approximately 20 signs and were standing on both sides of the street, yelling at traffic. It appeared as though this was a regular occurrence, as no other traffic other than our car even slowed down to see what was going on.
This shouldn’t be important, but I am Jewish. As a Jewish guest, I’d have stayed elsewhere and avoided seeing Holocaust deniers so close to a bed and breakfast that I was staying at. Unfortunately, at check out time, no one was there for us to report this to. We left feeling very uncomfortable and hoping that a Google review will alert others to maybe choose somewhere else to stay if they don’t feel like being exposed to this sort of extremist hate speech.
Edit: I have read the response from Stone Chalet and found it lacking. What I wish is not for the Chalet to control the behaviour of people in Ann Arbor, but to commit to warning people, now that they are aware of anti-Semitic protests happening just down the street, that it is a possibility that guests may encounter same. My priority was to get out of the area as quickly as possible for my own safety and that of my partner, not to try and reach the Chalet staff using one of apparently many online means. To suggest that it is incumbent upon guests to do this after being exposed to targeted hate speech is...
