***Stay away from this place and save your money*** It was the worst hotel we have ever been We paid 133 $ for one night while we were visiting elephant rocks state park, and we had a horrible experience After we checked in, we found out the toilet lacks door and AC was so noisy , some lights and TV were not working. I went down and spoke with the staff. I was told all rooms are fully booked as they had a wedding and asked me to call the 3rd part I booked through I booked this via capital one travel portal and spoke with them, and decided to stay because it was late We were surprised that someone knocks on our room door at 10:30 pm so aggressively, and the person defines himself as owner of the hotel , he spoke in inappropriate loud way without any respect to other residents who were sleeping at such late time including my wife who waked up so afraid He came, and instead of apologizing to us for all this inconvenience, he is an argumative person and so proud that all his rooms lack doors between room and toilet. he said that the noise of AC is normal !! He questioned why you requested a refund !! I explained that I told Capital One that I was going to stay as it was late, he kept arguing after this. I never met in my entire life, such an uncultured rude hotel owner. He wants to force people to accept his missy hotel instead of fixing the problems and ensuring customer satisfaction I had photos and a video to show the noise of the AC and room condition but was not able to upload them here but I uploaded them to Yelp. It is his responsibility as a hotel owner to ensure that the room is working well and fix all these before customer checks in. I don't recommend this place to anyone. It is a so old hotel that lacks maintenance Unless it was late and my wife was tired, I would leave to another place.

This was the coolest place we have ever stayed! I loved all the history of the school and learning about it during our brief stay. I only wish I could have done the tour so I could have learned more. We stayed in the beautiful Hearth Room in the Priest House. It was very pretty, and the bedding was so plush. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were so nice. I loved the little common areas with coffee stations and sitting on the large porch. I was absolutely amazed at how great the water pressure was! Garrison was so nice showing us around the house and telling us about the school and surrounding area. We ate both dinner and breakfast at Thee Abbey House, and both meals were very good. They even made us some lunch to go for the next day's float trip! I can't wait to come back and stay again. Garrison and his family are doing such a great job improving the property. (Just something to keep in mind when you are thinking about visiting: ) ) I highly recommend staying here for a unique experience!

This was the highlight of our trip! I insist the tour and breakfast is a must! This place is so historically rich, it's a glimpse into the past with plenty of modern features. We stayed in the Priest House - Provincial Suite. The room and bathroom were so spacious, and the bed was comfortable. I would suggest making time to just roam around the grounds just to admire everything this place has to offer. I imagine it would be a photographers dream. We chose this B&B because of near by attractions like Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut-in (and more). We will be coming back with friends and family, this was truly an amazing place. If you eat at the restaurant our recommendation: The Taum Sauk Fries, really good cheese sauce poured over waffle cut fries with perfectly cooked bacon. Would recommend if the ingredients align with your dietary needs.

In need of a quiet weekend away together my husband asked me to find a place for us to steal away...I decided that the Arcadia Valley,MO would be a nice place to visit as it was listed as a great place to see seasonal changes in the foliage and experience life in a small Ozark town. The drive was only about 2.5 hours from our home in Illinois. ||||I called several hotels and B&B's to see what was available. When I called the Nostalgic Place I was immediately struck by how cheerful and inviting the owner, Margo, was. I was very lucky as she had had a cancellation and did have the St. Francis Suite available for our dates of travel (October 24-26, 2014). I happened to be on the Nostalgic Place's website at the time and had been admiring the St. Francis Suite. I immediately booked the room. I was really impressed when Margo asked me about my husband and I's beverage preference for breakfast and if we had any dietary restrictions and/or food allergies. I've stay at many B&B's and no one has ever bothered to ask those types of questions. ||||When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Margo. She showed us to our room and gave us a quick history of the building and grounds all of which just added to the charm and beauty of the facility. Nostalgic Place is located on the grounds of what was once a large sprawling Catholic Church and school compound. ||||The St. Francis Suite was spectacular! Soaring ceilings, wooden floors, large dreamy canopy bed, HUGE 2 person bathtub (which we used and enjoyed), thirsty bathrobes, oversized bath towels (which I really liked), separate sitting room with large flat screen TV (we never turned it on...no need), refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave. The St. Francis Suite has it's own private outside entrance and is on the ground floor. The other rooms in this B&B are on the second floor. ||||We have a Tempurpedic bed at home and often find hotel beds miserable. Not so at the Nostalgic Place. The bed was supportive and very comfortable. The sheets were high quality and the rest of the bedding was just right for the time of year. Lots of large fluffy pillows as well. ||||Breakfast was served at 9:00 am. We enjoyed poached pears with vanilla honey cream cheese sauce, perfect omelets with our choice of fillings, and home made buttermilk pancakes. There was no need for a lunch! The next day we ate ham, French toast made with thick sliced French bread and baked apples. Again, no lunch needed.||||Before we checked out we made reservations to return for a three night stay in February. We are again staying in the St. Francis Suite which in my opinion is a bargain at $219.00 per night. I am from the San Francisco Bay area where mid-class chain hotels can easily let out at over $200 per night. Do yourself a good deed and definitely book a stay at the Nostalgic Place. It will exceed your expectations in everyway.||||Pros: Best feature is most definitely Margo, the owner. She is a true hostess and a joy to chat with. She knows the area well and you can tell she enjoys her guests. The breakfast is outstanding, rooms and facilities are spotless, quiet, quaint, comfortable, reasonable, and inviting.||||Cons: No sign or address numbers indicating location on...
