This was our first year in the area and we were very glad we chose this cabin for our stay. It was our anniversary so it was a special trip.We really enjoyed the privacy, fluffy robes (to die for!) and lounging in the morning over coffee to plan our day of fun and sightseeing. The nature from the deck was so amazing and the water fountain was very peaceful. I also enjoyed a nap one afternoon in the hammock! How relaxing during vacation! Altogether, wonderful!!
I would however like to mention a couple of small items to possibly improve an already great thing: The bed could use a new mattress. It had a low point in the middle and you could tell it was worn out. A couple of more comfortable chairs or even loungers on the lovely private deck would have been nice. The two large rocking chairs provided were fun to look at but not at all comfortable and splintery from the weather. The dinning chairs were fine but I craved something more relaxing to kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet, watching the birds and taking in nature. Two loungers would have been really nice so that my husband and I could hang out on the deck together and truly relax.
The bedroom was a good size and it would have been nice to have a full length mirror somewhere (maybe at the bottom of the stairs on the large plain wall) and an ottoman for your feet with the two chairs provided. Lots of floor room for this.
The shower was a bit uncomfortable and it was hard to rinse off because the small shower head was spraying more out the sides and not down. We tried to adjust it and get it to be more direct but no go. A nice new big shower head would have been sweet!
All of these items are small in comparison to the beauty, privacy and otherwise nice accommodations that come with the rental but I think worth mentioning in the event that you would like to know what to focus on for improvement.
We were very sad to leave Asheville and we hope to return someday in the near future to see and do more. And yes, we would stay at Willow Winds in a heartbeat again! and definitely at the same cabin! I think the few cabins on this lane are the most private from what I could tell.
Thanks for your interest in our stay and for providing a wonderful alternative to a basic hotel room. It was so much better than that! It left a very romantic memory in our hearts and we have been married for 29 years!!
Thanks...
Read moreOur family went out to Willow Winds 10/31-11/7 for our wedding. We had several members of our close family and friends out there, renting a total of 6 cabins. It was the most beautiful weekend! Everyone who stayed out there had so many wonderful things to say about Willow Winds. The most common statement we heard was, "How did you find this amazing place?!". I'm a firm believer in fate and know we were all meant to be there during that time. The staff, Mary, Pat, Linda all went way beyond what's expected of groundskeepers/staff. They made our stay feel like we were the only guests there. I really felt like we were part of a new family. We booked our cabins back in May and the thing that impressed me the most about Willow Winds was the cleanliness! We looked at several cabins when booking and I was just blown away by how clean and tidy everything was. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a clean freak. I loved how even the dishes in the cabinets were organized and looked clean. They even left anything you might need to do some touch up cleaning during your stay. Wonderful! We booked the cabins (in person) in May and then returned for our stay in October. The grounds looked so beautiful during both seasons. During our stay I always saw friendly employees continuously working on making sure the grounds stayed beautiful. We always had plenty of wood and fire starters, a newspaper every morning and beautiful areas to hike. I'm not kidding when I say that on our last day there, I was looking at flights to come back in March. Asheville is a beautiful city and we are so anxious to get back there again. For most of our friends and family that came out, it was their first trip to Asheville. Every single one of them said they want to make it an annual trip and want to stay at Willow Winds! Thank you so very much for making our stay at Willow Winds, one of the best parts of our wedding. We hope to be...
Read moreStayed at Pat's Place during our stay in Asheville on 12/30/17. This was my first time to Asheville and my fiance's 2nd and where we chose to be married. We had decided on Willow Winds based largely on the website and earlier reviews and we were not disappointed. We did not want your typical hotel stay and very happy we chose Willow Winds. Pat's place was absolutely perfect for a long weekend away. Everything was clean and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. We ate out every evening but had breakfast and lunch at the house each day. I should point out that this is more a house than a small cabin and well worth the money. It had a large LR, a small but comfortable DR and a decent size kitchen, large master BR and bath with a walk in closet. A decent size second bedroom next to another bathroom as well as a half bath. It was freezing out (30/15 day and night temps) while we were there yet firewood was always on our porch and the hot tub was definitely used! For us, the fireplace and the hot tub were definitely pluses. The hot tub is very private and just outside the master bedroom door to the deck. Willow Winds was very central to everything Asheville has to offer. I have stayed in beautiful 5 star hotels from NY to Ca to Europe to Australia. We both love a nice hotel as much as the next person but if we ever go back to Asheville Willow Winds will be our destination of choice! As much as we loved staying there we only had two regrets...the first was having to leave and the second was we would have loved to sit outside a warm night on the beautiful deck and enjoy its...
