Love camping here. We stay on the bayside Loop A. Generator use is allowed during the day. Fire ring and table were clean and well positioned. Clean restrooms. The horses are beautiful and will walk right into your site (which I prefer to the bears that do the same in western PA, lol). The rangers and staff are stickers for the rules. Short walk / ride to the beach. Bike and kayak rentals are available. Cheap compared to other RV camping in the area. No water or electric hook up on site, but there is a filling / dumping station at the end of loop C.

I drove by looking for wild horses. It seems like this area is where they hang out. Unfortunately I didn't see any, but I didn't realized people camp in tents here!! Not just in RV. Great idea!! There are very roomy restrooms in each area. Note, the toilets are not flushable. Just a toilet with a huge hole. I'm posting a picture I look by the beach to give you an idea how the toilets look.

We camp here every year and it is always a wonderful experience. Staff is friendly and informative. Park is clean and well kept. Campsites are spacious, and you can hear the ocean even if you don't have a clear view of it. Waking up to the ocean and wild horses is a dream!!! 10/10 will keep coming back. It is truly my happy place. You should check it out and make it yours, too!!!

Was my first time going to this place I thought it was going to be a great experience going there with my family. Boy was I wrong!.. As soon as we were done putting up our camp tent, we had a drunk male Kent ask us what were we doing there. In the afternoon we experience an old version Karen and Kent volunteers who harrased us the entire afternoon there we were there. Not sure what they doing there if they gonna be so rude. We spoke to the ranger on site with no help.. Never though this would happen to us in 2022, but boy was it a reality check for my family and I. I felt so discriminate.. We ended up leaving because we did not felt safe at all.. definitely will not...

First time camping in Assateague this summer and it was both miserable and amazing. Camping on the beach is sandier, wetter, and buggier than you can imagine. The facilities were decently clean, although there were a lot of flies around the compost toilets. But it's all totally worth it to wake up literally steps from the ocean. Fantastic biking and kayaking. And we saw so much more wildlife than we were expecting (tons of dolphins, ponies everywhere, a beached sea turtle that got rescued, ghost crabs, blue crabs, turtles, turkeys, rabbits, deer, and lots of birds.) I don't think we would do this every year, but we will...
