Fine campground on the Doe River with paved roads & parking pads, water, electric (except tent area), picnic table, fire ring, & grills. The parking pads are "level enough" - plan on doing some leveling, except perhaps in the flat area (camp area 1) behind the check in station. The roads into the other areas are pretty steep, especially in area 5 - even though the site driveways are nearly level, you'll need to back uphill into the driveway for most sites. The check in station is also the camp store, with some basic supplies. Behind the store, beside the entrance to camp area 1, is the dump station. You'll need to make some moderately sharp turn in the parking area to get positioned at the dump station. Dumpsters are also located in this parking lot - nearly .4 miles from my campsite. The bathhouses are small but clean. Update: I had a 1-bar Verizon cell signal when camping in the vicinity of bathhouse #5, but when I camped near bathhouse #4, I had no signal. The park's (unsecure) Wifi was good at both campsites for me.

Mike and Cheryl here. We have a 44 foot Class A RV. Here is my review of Roan Mountain State Park Campground. Road to: Overall good, but a little narrow, twisty and hilly at times. Road inside: Mostly paved but they do have a few potholes. Trees: Could use some trimming. The trees over our site were touching the roof of our motorhome. Check in: Small size office right at entrance. Parking: Medium size parking area. Seasonal campers: No. Signage: good Site 48: Gravel pad, but level. Had table and fire pit. View: View of river from a distance. The river is beautiful even with the earlier flood. Site spacing: Good spacing. Bathhouse: Nice. Laundry room: Small. Swimming pool: None. Club house: No. Fitness area: No. Grounds: Good. TV: None. Wifi: Good. So here is the bad: 1) The river flooded during the hurricane. The grounds along the river was destroyed, but they are working on it. 2) The bridge to the upper campground was destroyed. 3) Trees need to be trimmed. Travel Far, Dream Big, Live Well...

I recommend it with all my heart❤️ This is a beautiful and clean place in the wild. 15 minutes to Carvers Gap. Clean and warm toilets and showers. The parking lot has water, electricity and sewer. No more than two cars are allowed per parking lot. After 10 pm it's quiet. There is a table with a bench and a place for a fire, the grill as well. An armful of firewood costs $6 on site. 🍁Autumn is a great time to visit. 👆Don't forget warm clothes, these are real mountains with changeable weather.

Beware, site 55 in mid April spits out these 1 inch yellow blooms off the tree and will get on your vehicles and camper and want come off without manually getting them off, then it will have a coating on your paint job and will have to have your trucks and camper buffed and waxed again, want come off with regular wash or special solutions to take off. I contacted park manager and said cant control budding, but i say you can control with the spot being closed during this time when it happens. but its all about the dollar bill. I walked the whole bottom sites and it was only the tree...
