Friendly staff at check-in. My husband bought a bag of ice, and a staff member brought it over to our campsite. Great customer service! We set up our tent on the area next to the concrete pad. About an hour later, a ranger came and told us it had to be on the concrete pad. It was an easy fix. I believe we were the only tent in our area. Part of the campground is closed due to a washed-out bridge that happened during Hurricane Helene. It is a beautiful state park.

The Rhododendrons are absolutely stunning. Recommend a visit, maybe on a weekend when it is not as busy. Lovely grounds. Definitely a visit if you are a flower lover. Some of the biggest bees I have ever seen in my life! Lovely views, great paved walk path. Nice hikes in the area.

The campground is a bit rustic but has a really nice pool, tennis courts and a playground for the kids. Lots of views and hikes.

Steve (the security officer) is a very nice man. I had pulled over on the side of the highway there, going into the park because I had gotten turned around somewhere in my directions leading to Grandfather Mountain. It was midnight & I was exhausted so I decided to sleep for a little while. When he came thru, he pulled off & told me to follow him. He took me to the park's campground which has a bathhouse & showers. He let me stay there at the picnic area for free just to make sure I was safe for the night. Faith in humanity restored....

Beautiful campground that was full to capacity during my visit in June. Tent spots are nice and large but not really private. They say theres WiFi but I never found it. Highly recommend getting a spot along the river as it’s nice to hear at night. Kids can play in the river too as it’s shallow. Wood can be purchased for $5 at...
