This is probably our 6th trip to the Lodge at River Run and my first review I have ever written for any place I have stayed... but this place deserves it and it is long overdue! We visit nice B and B's all over the United States but this is one of the finest. Perfect getaway for us as we love hiking, mountains, and having fires at night in a stunning setting. There are great local restaurants and wineries and breweries around too! The innkeeper Bobbie makes breakfasts that should be featured in her own cookbook... the French toast, the amazing cheddar grits, eggs Benedict you name it! She also has so many tips of things to do no matter what your interest. The rooms are super clean and spacious but cozy, we absolutely love our room (heated bathroom floors too). Besides the gorgeous "lodge like" interior, the outside grounds are the icing on the cake. Backing to the Elk River, its so pretty as it is lit with accent lights at night and you listen to the sounds of river and waterfalls as you sit by the big outdoor fire with your favorite drink. Or if you want to just hang at the lodge with your favorite book there is a huge fireplace on the covered back deck and that is such a pleasant way to spend the afternoon as well. There are so many wonderful things about the The Lodge at River Run and I have only mentioned a few, but will leave the rest for your trip to find out on your own adventure, so I don't ruin all the pleasant surprises .... as there...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I had the most relaxing, refreshing, delightful weekend getaway at The Lodge at River Run! Right away, it felt like coming home to a cozy, weekend retreat. The lodge is gorgeous and beautifully decorated--fireplaces, cozy blankets, games...we just melted into a second home for the weekend! ||We loved the Mountain Laurel room! The bed was so comfortable with lots of luxurious linens. We enjoyed the private entrance, especially because the patio was a perfect place to hang my husbands waders to dry after fishing in the Elk river right out back! The river is even lit at night--gorgeous! He caught and released several beautiful trout, while I caught up on some reading! Actually we only left the lodge for dinner really! (But if you wanted to, the location is great for Grandfather Mountain, skiing, shopping, Linville, App State...)||Bobbie's breakfasts are delicious! We had French Toast made with homemade bread and then French eggs with sausage and berries with cream. Yum! We also enjoyed wine and focaccia served at 5pm before watching the basketball game in the downstairs living room!||There is truly nothing that I would change about our stay. or the lodge. We have stayed at a number of B&Bs, and Bobbie has the balance of hosting and getaway down pat! We can't wait to return to try some different seasons...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOMG, what a wonderful place to stay while visiting the high country of NC !!! You will be made to feel at home by Bobbie Parks, the highly qualified Innkeeper, and her friendly helpers, Neelam and Rosemary. Each of the five rooms are unique to suit oneās needs, and tastefully decorated. You are free to visit other areas of the house like the great room, library, and the upper outdoor deck with comfortable seating and TV. The grounds are impeccably maintained with lawns and beautiful flowers. Chairs are located by the Elk River, and at the fire pit. And speaking of the Elk River, a fly fisherman can fish for trout on a long stretch of this beautiful, fast moving river. You probably will not see another guest until Bobbie serves her delicious and photogenic gourmet breakfasts at 9:00 am outdoors, weather permitting, with guests seated at separate well-spaced tables. Certain concessions have been made because of Coronavirus, like no afternoon āwine timeā, but all for the good of the health and safety of the guests and staff. For other meals, downtown Banner Elk is only a 3.3 mile drIve from the lodge. Some guests do take-outs from the Banner Elk restaurants, and eat back on the lodgeās deck while listening to the crackling sound of the river that runs through the property. Tight...
