In have been staying here for over a year, and this definitely is a great campground to be in, especially in winter! I was able to get a permanent site for my RV, but during the winter we really enjoyed staying in the campground’s themed hotel rooms. My favorite was the Christmas Room with a gas fireplace, heart shaped jacuzzi bathtub, and queen sized bed. Being able to walk out of the hotel and into the forest made it exciting to take the best winter photography. You can also stay in the two big cabins over the winter, which have been freshly renovated.
There is a store that is continuing to be stocked, the best staff -say hi to Tammy- , cabins of all sizes, tent sites, a scenic pond, Rv hookups, and a nice trail thru the forest. They also do seasonal campground parties - Halloween, Christmas in July, etc.
There are new owners, Brenda and Jackie, and they are working hard on improving everything in the campground from the previous owners. Over the past year they have changed this place A LOT, and I’m excited to see what they will improve in the future. If you want to have a quiet camping experience near Cooks Forest, I would recommend checking...
Read moreWe just spent a long weekend here, and it was great. Very quiet and peaceful. The location of this campground is perfect! Just a few minute drive to all the spots you want to check out in Cooks Forest! We stayed in the full hook up spot, so I did not rate the rooms. The owners and staff here are so friendly and nice! It really makes your camping stay more enjoyable when everyone is so friendly. We had the donuts from the bakery, and they were delicious!! They had events planned for Saturday, which was fun! Bingo, ice cream, and music. We definitely want to come back. For us, the only a few small things I'd suggest is something for smaller kids to do like a playground for when there's downtime. There are some bigger pot holes and if we had a nicer camper I'd be upset but since we have an old camper it didn't bother us. If they were filled in it would be really nice. Also for people who need internet access it's very hard to get reception. Again for us it was nice to just unplug!!
We can't wait to see the progress for next year and see...
Read moreDO NOT GO HERE! This is single handedly the worst campground I’ve ever been to. There is such a bad CO2 leak in the bathroom it was making my family and I sick and you have to Walk down an unlit hallway just to get to it. When we told staff they said “oh I don’t smell anything “ and did nothing. They also overbooked and my family and I payed almost $200 to camp in a parking lot where we did not even have electricity THAT WE PAID EXTRA FOR for most of the first day. On top of this where the placed us had 4-5inches of mud to walk through just to get to our tents and during the rain a literal pine tree fell on our site and it was not safe when we tried to go to the office to say we were leaving no one was there because they closed early which they did at random hours every day we were there. All of this was TERRIBLE not to mention the screaming,Indian drum circles and music till 4am that nothing was done about. We ended up leaving early and never got any of your money back. This place should...
