Carolina Lodge — Hotel in Barnwell

Terrible experience! So the rates were cheaper online but the gentleman up front said that we could no longer book online. So i just needed the room for one night so I just paid the price because i had a migraine from the festival. He placed us in one room and and only gave me and my guest two rags and two towels and one set was filthy as if it was already used. After i had taking a shower, I asked for more towels for the next day they told us that they had placed us in the wrong room and no we could not have anymore. I asked for a refund they told me that since I had been in the room for more than 10 mins that I could not. I asked was that in their policy, he stated that it was online. I looked and it wasn't. They finally said yes to more towels and I asked them where was it stated online then proceeds to say that it was listed on the door. The room looked like it was still under construction . The towels were still looked unwashed we had to buy more and that morning we were rushed out. I do not recommend even if it was the only room in town. Ask to view the room...

I stayed here twice. I was hoping the second time would be better...but actually the first time was. They put us in a smoking room, there were a couple bugs that I found and it was so incredibly loud,people outside pounding on doors, yelling and partying, lighting the grills on fire near the cars with flames going above them (and we are talking tiny ground grills that arent but a few inches off the ground) the smell of weed was so over bearing and all through our room, I can deal with some things but this was bad and I had my 4 year old with me so I was not too happy. You also can NOT get a late check out here at all. I needed an hour and was told no. Upon leaving, while I was checking out, the girl who was with me saw the employees cleaning the room next to us and noticed they did not change the sheets in either bed. I cant say I will be going back and that's sad because the first trip there wasnt so bad....oh and the only heat adjustment for the room was on the air...

This hotel is the best hotel location-wise if you're visiting Barnwell SC. My room had some minor but notable issues. I didn't discover any gross bugs or odd messes anywhere, and the bedding was clean and smelled great. My main complaint is that there was a ton of dust and crud on the furniture, including the bathroom sink and toilet. It's not a big deal, but clearly someone either skipped that part of cleaning, or the room hadn't been used in a while. Also, the pipe underneath the sink is leaking, and there was already a large bucket underneath to collect whatever came out. That definitely needs fixing.||Thankfully, I barely needed my room except to sleep, so for a one-man gig, it will work just fine.
