Had a reservation for four nights when I was away on work. Worked an overnight shift, was done at 6 am and I went to check in, stating right away that I knew check in wasn't until 3 pm, but tried to explain my situation. The girl at the front desk just stared at me and was like, "uhhhhh I'll have to check.... we usually don't do that...." then just stared at me until I was like, "okay... I'd appreciate that.." then checked, said my room was ready and clean so it was fine. My district manager had her card on file for my room since this was a work trip, but the lady at the front desk proceeded to charge my card the full amount for the four nights, refused to listen to me that I shouldn't be getting charged for anything, said she would fix it, followed by an "whoops...". When I asked what the whoops was, she told me nothing and that she fixed it.
I got up to my room, checked my banking app to see I was, in fact, charged the amount not once, but twice. I contacted my district manager who had to call the hotel and explain the situation, then I received a call almost an hour later telling me that I needed to come back down to the front desk because they understood there was a problem with my card. I went back down, got told that I was going to have to call my bank to get the charges removed from my account because there was nothing they could do, then told me that they got everything fixed on their end. I'm sorry, how was it fixed on your end if you weren't able to refund my card? I got a weak, "I'm sorry" then the girl, who claimed to be the GM (she looked like she was maybe 20 at the oldest, neck covered in hickies, very unkempt appearance), had no issues throwing her other employee under the bus saying she had no idea what she was doing, how it was a stupid mistake that only she would make, etc.
I called my bank, explained what had happened, and did so just in time. When I got a representative, they said they were getting ready to call me because the charges flagged my account and they were getting ready to put a hold on it for fraud - how lovely? Being stuck in Barron, WI for work and not having access to my bank funds. Luckily, my bank was fantastic and got the charge cancelled and got my funds released back into my account and got told they would keep an eye on my account after checkout to ensure that there weren't any charges on my card.
I only gave two stars because the bed was incredibly comfortable and it was a very convenient location to work while...
Read moreRoom was clean and smelled nice. Walls and especially ceiling were not very well sound absorbing. Honestly, how much extra would it cost these hotels to at least add sound proofing to the ceiling/floor between floors. To have to listen to even normal sized peoples every step they take pounding thru the ceiling till 3 in the morning is ridiculous. Yes, I requested an upper floor at check out and no, they had none left. Guess I'll have to do that at booking next time. The breakfast was underwhelming. Microwaved scrambled eggs and sausage, instant oatmeal and the coffee was actually down the hall out in the lobby instead of the eating area. You had to request the eggs and sausage from the receptionist and she served them to you, so that was awkward. Makes you feel guilty for going up for seconds. I have limitations to my diet and can't supplement with the other high carb/sugar alternatives they offered, so the eggs and sausage were the only thing I could eat. They have Roku TVs, so if you're not familiar with them they can be a little frustrating. Free, easy to connect to Internet. No password required. Overall this place is the least you'd expect from a hotel. For the price they charge though, I'd say it falls short. I got a basic king room and paid $190 for the night. No pool, bar, real eggs, restaurant or sound proofing. I could see paying $150 max for a place like this. But it's overpriced for...
Read moreMy experience thus far has been miserable, and I haven't even made my stay yet. Call #1 was to make a reservation. I was told a confirmation e-mail would come. It never did. Call #2 made a week or so later was to confirm reservation, received no pickup as lines were dead. Call #3 was made the following day. It turns out my original reservation was input incorrectly. Reservation was updated. Again I was told a confirmation email would come. Never did. Calls #4-7 made at various points to confirm reservation, rang for several minutes without being answered. I have zero confidence that my reservation is correct, and expect to show up on the anticipated date with no room...
