Our family went here a few days ago for a surprise 80th Birthday for my sweet grandmother. It was well known to Rolling Oaks in advance that this party would be taking place. Glasses and silverware still had visible food chunks on them from whoever they were used by previously. The server (only 1 server for 30-ish people) was not friendly or personable at all and was clearly overwhelmed and seemed very agitated from the beginning. Our food took a total of 2 hours to be completely delivered to the table, with 1 to 3 plates being brought every 10-20 minutes. The server was barely at our table, only to deliver food and then shuffle away quickly to the back. One family member ordered a ribeye but was given prime rib, and the special guest who had to wait OVER AN HOUR for her meal and was given the incorrect dish, something she never eats and would NOT ask for. Since our server was mostly absent unless delivering food in those 10-20 minute intervals, I obviously had to go to the door of the kitchen to notify the server of the incorrect dish or it would be a long time until the situation could be rectified. I was baffled to see 4 ladies standing at the expo line waiting for food that is barely coming when there were many other productive things that could use tending to. She had to wait another 25ish minutes to get her correct dinner order and was one of the last 3 out of 30ish people to eat. The place was not busy whatsoever and there was very clearly at least 4 front of the house staff. There was also no bartender available on Saturday night and our guests waited over 10 minutes to get service there. One of our elderly guests realized the only way she was getting a drink is if she made it herself, so she did just that. Only then, an employee became present for a short while. This was highly unorganized, very unprofessional, and completely unacceptable. For being the only “good” dining option in Barron, this was absolutely disappointing and astonishing that this would even be allowed to happen. As someone who has been a server for 10 years, there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for this to have happened being a preplanned event. There is especially NO logical reason to make the special guest celebrating her 80th birthday wait close to two hours and be one of the very last ones to receive her food. I highly advise against anyone booking a get together at this place as they are clearly not capable of being able to take care of a party in a timely or...
Read moreUpdate: as luck would have it, it’s chicken soup night again and it would be a crime had I not taken the time to re-emphasize how good the soup is, holy moly! Confirmed: this is the real deal, how soup should be! Incredible! And like all of my visits the service is great and there is truly nothing I could complain about. Except maybe that I live so far from the place. If I lived closer I’d be here every night for dinner. Another five stars! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Had the Ribeye w/aAuGratins and a trip to the salad bar where I discovered what would be the highlight of my meal: the Chicken Soup! I’m 55yo and I’ve spent most of my life in MN & WI so I’ve tasted a soup or two and this one is probably the best bowl of chicken soup I’ve ever had. You may think I’m exaggerating but I can assure you I am not. If you’re lucky enough to visit on chicken soup night, give it a try and see for yourself.
Upon reading the other reviews I see that others have had some not so great experiences. I’ve been here a half a dozen times and each time it’s been a very good experience. So far they’re...
Read moreWe came here tonight for our one year wedding anniversary dinner. I was looking for a place with a salad bar, and the menu looked pretty good so we drove almost an hour to get here. There were some low ratings but I am pregnant and was desperately craving a salad bar so we decided to make the drive to give it a try. We were SO happy we did! The salad bar was as good as I hoped, good selection of toppings, and the dressing was tasty. Also included soup which was good. We got a Flatbread for an appetizer, I got the chicken tender basket, hubby got ham steak and cheesy potatoes. We loved it. The only thing I didn't care for was the coleslaw. We had a wonderful server named Barb, very nice and attentive. She was quick to refill drinks and checked on us regularly. Everything came out at decent times. We felt like we got a lot for our money. The view of the golf course was nice too. We loved this place and will be happy to...
