This is by far the best experience i have ever had in the hotels and lodging industry. Cove Point Lodge will forever be my highest recommended place to go and it shall remain at the top of my list for many more reasons than i can possibly list here. With that said, I'll try and mention a few of the wonderful things about this place.... They have thought of EVERYTHING and they provide you with everything including the freedom to move about and explore the many scenic acres of gorgeous cove side property.... A fish house on the water that is repurposed into a gathering spot with tables, chairs and a fully stocked wood stove. An outdoor fire pit ready with s'more utensils and plenty of wood and kindling to make it through the night. A large fireplace in the main dining area as well as a full bar and restaurant. A large spread of arts and crafts, free for families to use and enjoy at will. A complimentary jar of freshly baked cookies. A substantial library of DVD's. Tables with games, both in the main lodge as well as the Fish House. A library of board games. A large deck with a shoreline view, easily accessible from the main lodge. A heated indoor pool complimented by a hot tub with easy access to the lounge area or the back deck. A trail system that extends around the cove. Fat tire bikes for rent. Kuerig coffee makers and quality mugs in every room. Tasteful knotty pine accents and trim throughout the building. Great location. Access to waterfalls. Every unit has a cove side view and some have walkout balconies. Family units meant to sleep 6 are available as well as small private cabins on their own lots. I know I'm forgetting some things but i think you get the idea. This is the BEST DEAL you can get for your money and clearly the best place to stay on the North Shore. Also, extremely family friendly but great for couples looking for a romantic getaway. The service is also wonderful and everyone i talk to here is so happy to be staying here. I do many reviews and I've stayed at many places. I've stayed at many great places but none of them can compete with Cove Point because none of them offer so many of these unique things. So much work has gone into making this a special place and it really pays off. Hope this review was helpful! Enjoy your stay! PS- the mechanical door keys are soooo much better than the stupid card style keys you get at most hotels. I provided an image of their mechanical key. It works easily and smoothly every time. Every place...
Read moreMy partner and I stayed at Cove Point Lodge for our anniversary this August.|Overall, the lodge had some nice amenities and a very homey cabin look and feel.|The hot tub, sauna, and pool were great, and we loved that it was adult-only from 9 pm to 11 pm. What really makes the lodge special is being right on the shoreline and having some walking trails that lead to the rocky shore. We spent most of our time out there and thoroughly enjoyed it. Watching the sunset in a place like this, less than a two-minute walk from where you are staying, was magical and a game changer. It was also very close to both of the main parks being Gooseberry Falls and Jettegouche. We were able to explore these parks nicely and come back very fast to our room for a quick shower and an evening on the shoreline. We did not eat at the lodge as the prices were very very steep for what people were getting.|We did grab two drinks at the bar which were small, but tasty!||Overall, the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the policies and answered every question we had. I was originally skeptical about the morning breakfast being different from what you normally find, but it was actually great!|So many things to choose from with selections like bagels, Nutella, peanut butter, honey, crackers, salami, cheese, apple and orange juice, cereal, and toasted bread. The cleanliness of the rooms was top-notch. We stayed in the Queen Loveseat with a window, and the view of the lake was amazing. They even had a large AC unit that was not advertised, so the room stayed cool and not humid while we were there. Everything was neat, organized, and ready for us when we arrived.||The only reason this stay was not a 5/5 is the price point. I can obviously understand it being summer and prices being higher as a result of tourism, but it added up to a little over 300 a night. Granted, we got their couples package that came with chocolates, couples cards, wine, and keepsake glasses, but the keepsake glasses were just regular glass cups with the price tags still on the bottom of them. I think for that price point, there should be something else provided, but the amenities were amazing and made for a really good anniversary trip. If you can venture out here and get a good deal for...
Read moreWe came for the location; we were delighted with the food.
We are senior citizens looking for a two-night getaway along the North Shore. Over the years we have stayed at almost every lodge between Duluth and the Canada border. This time we prioritized LOCATION. We wanted a place not too far from Duluth, close to a couple of attractions and very close to the water. We chose Cove Point Lodge. We booked one of their better rooms in the lodge - a king bed, sofa, fireplace, fridge and so close to the water that we could hear the waves. The location was exactly what we expected. Our room (#224) was so close to the water that we opened the window and were mesmerized by the sound of the surf. We did an excursion to nearby Split Rock Lighthouse. We enjoyed the unseasonable warmth of the first week in April. Covid 19 is still a worry, so although we were fully vaccinated, we were socially distanced in the dining room. We made reservations, and this got us a waterfront table. The wine, Charles Krug Chardonnay, was reasonable and perfect with our salmon and pasta. We were so pleased with the first dinner that my wife made her way to the kitchen to meet the chef Shawn Adreana and give him a token of our appreciation. But the second night was the best. As an appetizer, I ordered their hummus with a lingonberry sauce. It was a large portion that we share with our before-dinner drinks. the hummus was a balance of sweet and tart. It was irresistible. For my entree I ordered the Swedish meatballs once again garnished with this homemade lingonberry sauce. My wife's Swedish grandmother made world class meatballs, and we have dined in some excellent restaurants in Sweden, but these meatballs might have been the best ever. The food was probably the best we have ever experienced along the North Shore. The chef is young and very creative. I met the key to the operation, General Manager Kate Williams, and learned how she put together her fine staff. They were warm and helpful and went out of their way for us. They happily took photos of us, and they made helpful suggestions. The brief visit was everything we had hoped for. We will return to Cove Point Lodge for the location AND the kitchen. David and...
