I had a 2 day stay here recently. Depending on the road you take (if driving) from Danville VA area like I did, , the last 15 miles can be quite secluded, narrow, and windy. Check-in is via a text message you receive a few minutes prior to Check-in time, and there is little to no human interaction as far as customer service goes. In fact, the office, is quite a ways away from the rooms. Communication is done via text message. The room was pretty clean, and nice, however I like to be able to go barefoot in the room. My room's floor felt a little dusty, as if it had not been mopped. There was a nice view outside my window of the private beach area. This private beach area was easy to access via some steps nearby outside my room. I had difficulty sleeping due to the adjacent individual air-conditioning unit repeatedly turning off and on for what appeared to be every 5 minutes. I'm sure this was due to that guest's settings, and not a fault of the Inn, however this is a review of my overall experience, and stay. I appreciated the King size bed, refrigerator, stove, and microwave. All amenities that are of course upgrades. I also enjoyed the fire pit outside in the evening that I had to figure out first that the propane power hookup was on the very back, close to the ground, facing the fence. Overall, a decent stay.

We stayed at Halesford Harbour last weekend and it was great! The best part about the Inn was the fact that everything was contactless. You get texted your room code, because all the doors had number locks, and everything is there and waiting for you when you arrive. Checkout is as easy as leaving the hanger on the door. The view of the lake amazing and the location was close to everything we needed. They had a dock and a great outdoor space with a fire pit and picnic tables to eat. Parking seems limited, but we never had a problem finding a spot. We will definitely book another stay at the Inn the next time we come into town.

Cute little spot on the water. It's fairly priced and conveniently located to many spots. They also send you a code for the keypad for contactless check-in. The only downfall was that the room had puddles of water on the floor (room 24) upon arriving. We turned the heat on since it was chilly at night, and it smelled of smoke, and the smoke detector went off. Upon inspection, the air filter looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a year, so we took the liberty to clean it, and it made the smoking stop. The heat worked fine afterward.

We are a family of 6; with 3 of our children under 3. We rented the biggest suite the Inn has for 5 days. We got to the inn about 45 mins early and saw our rooms were ready.. so with 4 anxious kids we went to the office to check in and see if we could get into the room 45 mins early …. Well much to our surprise we got the most unwelcoming and RUDE woman named Dawn upon arrival. I asked if there was anyway we could possibly get into our room as we had just driven far and needed a place for our kids and her response was “ texts will go out when rooms are ready” I asked if she knew when they would go out the response “ when they are ready” I asked if there was anything she could do … “ it’s an automated service they go out when they go out” …. She was too busy drinking her Dunkin’ Donuts coffee to bother checking or even ACT like she cared enough to help us.

Dawn has ABSOLUTELY NO business being in the hospitality business and owners of the inn need to do something about it. She was so rude to the point my oldest daughter asked what her problem was. Then when asking around MULTIPLE people shared she is always this way and always treats people rudely and NOTHING changes. When you are spending what you spend to stay at the inn you would expect a friendly face to help accommodate you and be more willing to help; even if there is nothing able to be done the tone and willingness of which you handle situations helps the customer feel appreciated. Dawn did none of these things.

When I made a complaint on the Facebook page, I was not greeted with a apology or how can we help - I was greeted with defending of the AWFUL office staff Dawn who was so rude and telling me to seek a manager - great plan however, there was no manager on site and when you called you got no answer when you called the number. It would be wonderful if they actually had a staff that was here to MANAGE.

However on a positive note the grounds keeping gentleman and the woman who serviced our room could not have been more helpful or nice. Went out of their way to ask if we needed anything and made sure we had plenty of towels and sheets and anything else we needed!

Really hoping this review helps others when choosing where to spend their money and stay… because we will NEVER waste our money on...

Have stayed here all summer no problems until October when I was rudely told they were under new management (wish they were not). Made a reservation which I have all in a email on a Thursday 10/20 for a Saturday 10/22 stay. I had asked if possible for a early check in and the lady told me no problem since it was off season they were empty. Me and my sister arrived at about 1:30 (check in is 3:00) went downstairs and saw a cleaning lady and I said Hi I am so and so and we are here to check in is our room ready. That's when it went down hill she rudely told me there are no early check in as she was the only one here and would not even have our room ready at 3:00 I said oh I'm sorry then she slammed the door in my face. I saw a number on the wall that said if you room isn't ready call this number so I did - it was her number. She got very rude said she was calling her boss (which was Susan) I said oh ok that's great. Spoke with Susan and she apologized and stated there was new management and the website campspot had been making these promises to people. Now mind you the parking lot was empty there was only one other guest there. I said no problem can me and my sister simply fish until its ready which was only a hour away. She said find. We went and got our poles from the car when here comes the cleaning lady and stated that her boss called back and watched the camera's and we both needed to leave. Not really sure why we needed to leave however this cleaning lady apparently told a bunch of lies so we were asked to leave. They are now claiming they can keep my money. That isn't going to Happen I have contacted the BBB and a investigation will take place and I have also contacted a Lawyer. The new owners need to recheck their employees. I cant wait to see this video of what apparently me and my sister did so wrong to be asked to leave. I have never in my life been treated by a establishment...
