Let me first say that the manager did give us a 50 percent refund on both rooms that we reserved. The lady at the front desk that checked us in was friendly and gave us a good recommendation for someplace to eat as we were arriving later than we had planned… that’s were the good things basically end. When we came back from the restaurant it was late and we all just wanted to get a shower and go to bed, the side entrance that we were instructed to use had a malfunctioning porch light that made it have a strobe effect and it was very difficult to use the room key with this happening to get the door open, one of my grandkids stepped in what was left of someone’s dinner just left out on the stairs, there were beer bottles and cigarette butts all over the place. When we got into our rooms we discovered that they were not very clean, pulled back the sheets to discover that someone else’s medicine was in our bed! Now I don’t even want to think about what could happen if one of the grandkids had found them instead HOWEVER, the real question is if the sheets were changed how exactly does something like that happen? We started taking a closer look around the room and saw that all along the beds and around the nightstand were pieces of popcorn and pretzels, candy wrappers, empty cigarette packs, bottle caps, and the most revolting…. Other peoples nail clippings! Lots of them! There was someone else’s food in our refrigerator and several very thick spots of what looked like hair conditioner on the walls of the shower. The second room had cleaner floors however when we pulled the sheets back in that room we discovered that there was a large amount of hair under the pillows and on the sheets themselves, the bathroom had a significant amount of mildew on the ceilings and walls and the air conditioning unit pumped out a smell that I can only equate to a fish tank… yuk. At this point it was after 11 pm in a fairly rural area and not a lot of choices for other hotels, we also knew that the hotel was fully booked for the night so asking for a room change was out of the question. We took blankets and pillows from our cars and slept on top of the bedspreads and just washed our hair under the faucet in the bathroom. I get it that this is a Super 8 and it’s a budget venue but this place was so gross 🤮 I say that unless it’s freezing outside you are better off sleeping in your car at a rest stop. We travel a lot and understand that budget friendly places are not going to have luxury beds and amenities, we have stayed in Super 8 hotels in several different states and have never had this kind of experience before… it’s really bad so unless you are desperate I wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreJust checked into the worst hotel ever! Made reservations through Expedia, a month ago, for two rooms. Specifically designating the need for the rooms to be adjoining. It's on my itinerary and it's on the computer at this place. The rooms, however, were not adjoining.
When asked what could be done to resolve the issue, I was told nothing. It was explained to me by the very unpleasant front desk person that room assignments are made the day of the arrival. Meaning, this morning it was possible to provide two rooms adjoining as noted on their computer. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told the manager was unavailable. I explained that I knew that was not true and that any good manager would be available by phone, day or night. She stared at me. Following the stare down, she proceeded to make excuses for the girl who made the assignments, saying "she didn't see the special request." I asked her how she knew considering she had not talked to her and suggested perhaps she should call her. She said she was unable to do that.
Not getting anywhere with her, I called Expedia. As so often happens, I was connected to a non-English speaking person with an Indian accent. She asked me to hold while she called the hotel. Sitting next to the counter, I heard the entire conversation with the unpleasant one. It went no where, except now she was able to "attempt to contact the manager," something she was adamant she couldn't do with me. I called her out on the lie and she demanded I leave. Having paid for two room and having reservations for two rooms, I refused.
Much longer story much shorter, upon getting off the phone with Expedia, I called her bluff again and she now claimed she had spoken with the manager. Keep in mind she never left my view, so I once again pointed out the third lie. To wrap it up, neither this atrocious place nor Expedia cared to make it right. Expedia said they would find me another place in Bedford, Pennsylvania, (I'm in Bedford, VA) and give me a $50 coupon. As if I'm ever going to use their service again. My advice to Super 8, pay attention when assigning rooms and hire nicer people. To Expedia, bring your customer service back to the United States and at least give the illusion you care about your customers. To you, the reader, avoid this place at all cost....
Read moreMy husband and I were getting our bathroom remodeled so we had to stay at a hotel for two nights for the first time ever in our own hometown. Our experience at this hotel was awful! The front desk receptionist was very rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. She had about as much personality as a rock. We rented a king room and had a terrible night's rest, due to a very uncomfortable, hard bed. I woke up and my back hurt so bad, I knew there was no way I could stay in this hotel another night. When we went to the front desk to tell them about the bed, we were told we would be switched to another room when we returned later in the day. Well, when we returned another employee was working, and she refused to move us to another room, and wanted to charge us $20 more than what we were paying for another room. at first the receptionist told us there were no rooms available, then she changed her mind and said yes they had rooms available but we would have to pay $89 a night for it. I don't think it's fair that my husband and I paid for a room and didn't even get to sleep there, because the bed was so uncomfortable. The employees working there did not seem to care. This hotel has some serious problems that needs to be addressed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I would rather...
