We have stayed in this hotel many times over the 19-years it has been here, and while it was a Holiday Inn Express. We had always felt comfortable and secure there and enjoyed our stay. Recently, while the local owner franchiser remains the same and many of the employees have stayed on, the hotel itself is no longer with IHG. We were just so very sad to to learn this. We decided to stay anyway to learn about the changes this will mean. The price bracket remains the same. As an HIE, it was competitively priced. For Baymont, it's higher than average. The breakfast has been SIGNIFICANTLY downgraded, and while it is still free, I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. The breakfast attendant looked as if she really didn't care about her job and this was reflected in the service. Physically, the property looks the same; it always had an elegant feeling. But some big changes are in store rather quickly and I'm afraid for what they might do to this gracious hotel. Our room was not as I reserved online, so a change had to be made upon check-in. This had never happened before. The change was made and then the new electronic keys did not work. When I finally got into the room, I noted that it was still as it had been. But the noise level was much higher than I was used to; maids loudly talking and laughing quite early, and because this room backed up to the food prep area, there was a consistent banging in the walls during breakfast set-up. The bathroom sink/mirror are is cramped and there are not enough unused electrical outlets around the room for things that need to be charged. I ended disconnecting some hotel things so I could charge my stuff. Parking remains the same, but do not park in back. It is not needed for security and there is no unlocked entrance from the rear, which means walking around the building. I also saw no nighttime security personnel. Overall, not much has changed, yet. We have been disappointed by Baymonts in the past, so I am afraid for what will happen now that this once gracious hotel has been 'downgraded'. Unsure if we...
Read moreI arrived a few hours later then I'd planned, I just drove 9 hours and had 2 very cranky babies in the car. It took me 20 minutes of ringing the bell to finally get the kid out there to help me, pretty sure he was in the back sleeping. I finally got to my room and the bathroom door was broken so it wouldn't close. I only had 2 towels, I called to more but he never answered. Exeryting online and in the hotel states that there is breakfast which had my planning for that the next morning with the kids there was no coffee nor breakfast so my morning got screwed up with my timing trying to find breakfast. I asked join check in about the pool he said it was open. So I spent over 100$buying 4 of us swimming suits and fliaties for the kids, the pool is not open due to our still being too cold. It was 90 and no freezing temps ahead. My 3 nights there, there was only 1 poison a blonde in Sunday night who was very pleasant and seemed to be the only one who actually worked. Every interaction besides her felt like I was just being an interruption to their movie watching. Next time I visit my son I'll be staying in Los Lunas. Very...
Read moreCheck in was great, room was great! I was not happy with the breakfast, went down for breakfast at 8:30 as the breakfast hours were from 6:00-9:00, no hot stuff left, (eggs, sausage, gravy) asked person working if they were bringing more out, she looked at her watched then back at me at and rudely said no. If that’s the case they should change breakfast hours to 6:00-8:30. When I said to my husband this is pitiful, one of the workers spoke in Spanish to another worker she looked at her watch and they continued to speak, which I am sure they were talking about me. Everything else was just about out, such as no muffins, only wheat bread, most containers were empty. I did get a bowl of cereal and a yogurt. So if you are staying there get there early for the hot breakfast. I have been traveling for over a week and have not had this problem anywhere else I...
