La Dos Gringas — Restaurant in Belen

The food at La Dos Gringas is always delicious!! Today's food, was exceptionally delicious! It was by far, the best meal I have ever eaten from there. It was fresh, hot, the portion was very fair for the price. La Dos Gringas is my favorite place to eat! The staff are always so friendly and the atmosphere is so welcoming. I am editing my review because today we ordered what we always order and it was extremly disappointing! Got our meals home after paying the normal amount of $30.00 and immediately I could tell something was wrong. The boxes almost felt empty. They felt almost empty because they were. They have kept the prices but, cut the portions in less than half! That is unexceptable and total greed!!! We paid $30.00 for 2 people to eat and at that price, you should not still be hungry. We have been eating at La dos gringas since they opened their doors and gave them a raving review that I am now are regretful that I did. The owner is extremely rude and refused to get on the phone to speak with us about our dissatisfaction. That to me is not someone that appreciates a customer that frequents their business at least twice a week and sometimes more. Do yourself a favor, eat where you will get what you pay for and not still be hungry. The owners explanation, thru an employee is, people waste food! Well, if they paid for it and want to throw it away, it's theirs to do so. That shouldn't be any of her business because you paid for it. It's boils down to greed!! The owner will soon find herself out of business treating people the way she does and giving the skimpiest of portions the way she just did! 2 lost customers here! She had her opportunity to make it right and chose not to. Again, extremely dissatisfied!!! And to the owner, you have my number to...

My boyfriend RAVED about this place and took our son an I this afternoon. We all had iced tea....sooooo much ice we barely had a couple drinks and we were out...sat patiently for refill after refill. I honestly don't usually drink that much. But with a glass full of ice....seriously how much tea did we truely get? Moving on. Chips and small salsa came out SUPER fast and was delicious (though small for 3 people). We ordered chips and queso as an appetizers and definitely was from a can with added jalapenos. The food tasted ok...like cafeteria food. Edible but nothing to RAVE about. My boyfriend and I ordered huevos rancheros and our son ordered the daily special...shredded beef on wheat bread with frozen veggie medley and frozen or instant potatoes. We never received our sopas with our huevos rancheros...so took them home. Again...edible...not great. I would go back IF I was stranded in Belen. Service was ok-ish....I get they were probably short staffed as everyone is...but should close some tables...

The restaurant is very nice and clean and the server was very cordial as well. I'd say that It was a pleasant atmosphere overall! The salsa was tasty and the food was good! I had the Navajo Taco and everything tasted fresh, from the fry bread on up to the vegetables. The Chile wasn't really too spicy though, but, I think it was at a level that was good for the General Public. I tend to eat the really spicy stuff, so if I think that it's spicy, then it might not be edible for others, LOL!

The only gripe I had was that it took quite a long time to get our food and another table even got served before us, when we got there before them? Although, the waitress did keep coming back to let us know exactly where our food was in the process, so at least we were not feeling like they forgot about us! I put all that on the cook, not sure what was going on back there? He was obviously moving a little slow or backed up, or whatever....
