To start off the Main Gate entrance to KOA Park is right off of Highway 2 you enter through an automatic security gate that is code locked after 9pm booking the reservation over the phone was simple fast and easy you pay first night's deposit up front all of the campsites are fantastic almost all of the campsites are electric water and sewer provided some don't have sewer but all have at least electric and water our campsite was 74 close to the dog park area and yes pets are welcome and free must be kept on a leash though and picked up after which was fine with us because it meant that the campground stayed very clean we had Woods behind and beside us and every campsite has a picnic table and a burn ring you have to purchase wood at the office due to the fact that they don't want the spread of any wood disease or bugs$5 per bundle this is a very large campeground and very well kept and maintained staff was very courteous very helpful when we purchased our bundles of wood they brought it right to the campsite and put it by the burn ring very cool could be a little more wood per bundle and little bigger pieces but it was fine I know it goes towards the upkeep and maintenance costs of the campground full bathrooms and showers they are very nice inside and very clean the campground is even equipped with a laundry room service paper wash and dry you do your own laundry very quiet and peaceful Campground it. Only has RV sites but tent sites as well they also have some cabins that you can rent this Campground is equipped for the largest of RVs to the smallest tents and let's not forget the kiddos there is mini golf a fenced-in pool that's 3 to 5 ft deep with lounge chairs around the pool to relax in the sun while your children swim there's a really cool playground area with a little fort swings things to play on and cool little 3-wheel pedal bikes for the kids to ride on rental of course in the office also one code accessed free Wi-Fi per campsite the second code for Wi-Fi is $2 more again very nice Campground for couples or families the only downside that I can see about this Campground is that the few different things that you have to purchase or rent but that doesn't bother me because again I know that it goes towards the upkeep and maintenance of the campground our site with electric and water back in campsite was like $45 a day will very easily pay that for a weekend of...
Read moreDropping from 2 stars on their website to 1 because my review left on their website was removed for “inappropriate content”. The campsite was clean and the pool was well maintained. The bad: we called ahead to ask for our cabins to be together if possible, but we were told they couldn’t make it work. Found out when we arrived that they don’t set groups together per their policy. Fine, but why not admit that up front? Had we known this our two families (with 5 kids, all of whom have various disabilities) would have selected another place to vacation as we were hoping to be able to help each other out over the course of our stay. The cabins have all the front windows bolted shut so in the 95* heat you can’t get a cross breeze of any kind, and I still cannot figure out why on earth you’d seal up the biggest window in the front part of the cabin? We were followed so much by staff in golf carts that it became a game to count how many times they drove past us and stared us down, especially when swimming. There are no family restrooms or unisex restrooms available, which didn’t bother us, but sure bothered the employees who kicked our children out of the “wrong” bathroom. When two moms are traveling with kids who have various disabilities (FYI folks, disability doesn’t automatically mean “uses wheelchair”) have to help them shower and use the restroom get scolded for using the wrong bathroom…..every review about the female with grey/white hair being rude is accurate. Don’t have kids items for sale in your store if you don’t want children in the store! Don’t sell ice cream treats if you don’t want kids excited about choosing a treat! Don’t be a family camp ground if you don’t like families! I’ve camped at many KOAs and have never had such a horrific experience. I feel bad for suggesting this location in the first place, but as I said, we’ve had so many positive experiences at KOAs…when a place of business deletes your review take it for the red flag it is and find somewhere else. ASD families - you’ve...
Read moreI have been travelling on/off for the past 50 years, staying in everything from high-end hotels to primitive campgrounds. During the last 15 years my wife and I have gone on annual camping trips from Wisconsin to the Canadian and US Rockies, stopping for five of the past six years at a KOA Campground in Bemidji, Minnesota. We had reservations again this year; but when stopping I ran into the most rude and obnoxious hotelier I have ever met. The incident was prompted when we arrived at the Campground at 11:30 in the morning of August 27 and I inquired whether we might be allowed to check in early. The female desk clerk replied this would require e a $20 “early check-in” charge despite our many past stays and the fact that the campground was nearly empty. I indicated that, under the circumstances, I thought this was excessive. I also indicated that I understood she was simply an employee trying to follow company policy, but I wanted to express my objection. She then curtly informed me that she was the campground owner, it was her policy and that if I didn’t like it, I could leave. She further stated that she didn’t want me in the campground, asked a fellow worker to “get him out of here” and threatened to sue me if I shared our conversation with others. She did eventually refunded my deposit and I left –...
