Quality Inn Bennettsville — Hotel in Bennettsville

I chose this hotel for 4 reasons 1) Breakfast 2) outdoor swimming pool 3) very close to an event that I was attending and 4) pet friendly. The breakfast was alright. I was very pleased with. The swimming pool was alright. The sign and staff told me it opened at 11 am. I had a nine year old and a fifthteen year old with me and they wanted to swim before we left for our event. We had to ask several times before they opened it, then they still didn't open it until 12pm. While we were waiting on pool to open at 10:45, Myself and the kids were walking my dog. A lady on the staff ran up to me to make sure I paid the pet "deposit." Which I did, I showed her my check in receipt on my phone. Instead of aggravating me over the pet deposit, she should have been concentrating on getting the pool open on time. As far as the "pet deposit" A deposit is a refundable fee charged if there are no damages. There were no damages so my $50 should have been refunded!! This ended being a regular fee that was not refunded. If I would have known that I would have stayed at a hotel were pets stay for free. If you are going to charge for pets, you could at least add that into the points system you have., where I could get more points for my stay. And also not call it a "deposit" Call it what it is a pet fee. If that is the case you need to charge more for kids. I seen some children doing a lot more damage then a pet. I am not like some people, I carry around poop bags with me when I walk my dog and clean...

Second floor room, I get to the stairs which were filthy and rusted, obvious dirt and rust on steps and rails. The stairs had been repaired at some point and uneven as I walked up. The second floor walkway was covered in dirt and debris, paper, plastic, just dirty. As I approached the room door it was covered in grime, obviously the exterior door had not been cleaned in who knows how long. Opening the door there was an immediate odor of something that was not a cleaning product, certainly sometime to try to mask an odor. The walls had holes where fixtures were repaired or moved, the A/C was rumbling a loud noise, the walls had obvious paint patch marks where a paint brush was used with a non matching color on closet doors and walls. The carpet was a dark dingy color, I refused to take off my shoes / socks. When walking toward the bathroom the carpet squished, soaking wet. The shower tub was clogged, after 1 shower the tub was full. I placed extra towels on the floor so I would not have to step on the floor after showering before getting shoes on my feet. I immediately packed my belongings and left the next morning. Even though I had paid for 2 nights I could never stay in conditions like that again. As soon as I booked a different hotel I showered immediately. I travel a lot, and have stayed in low quality hotel rooms while in the military and my current career. This hotel / room is the worst ever, it should be removed as an available room for anyone....

I usually boast about Choice Hotels Hospitallity and knock on Wyndham. The hospitallity at this hotel is far below what I normally receive from Choice Hotels. I dont like being told how to use a debit card machine. They have been around for a long time. That is small potatoes. This morning at 6:25am I went to get some coffee. Doors were locked. The gentleman inside wouldnt let me inside to get coffee. He tells me to come back at 6:30am. ??? 5 minutes ??? Ok, why couldnt he let me in and say sorry for the inconvenience that coffee will be ready in a couple of minutes. I guess I got spoiled from all the Choice Hotels that have 24 hour coffee. This afternoon really tripped my trigger and is the reason I chose to complete this review. The company sends me a Remodel Merchandise Manager to train. I go ahead and book him at this hotel. We get to the front counter and pretty much get ignored. We get told they are changing shifts. Well they took their sweet time over 19 cents. Yes sir 19 cents. It seems they were recounting and bickering over a cash drawer that was 19 cents short We had to wait until they got this figured out. I am staying for 7 days. I booked George for 6 days and they completely ignore us to squabble over 19 cents. WOW!! The room is clean. The hotel has the convenience of restaurants and shopping nearby.
