Tammy, the owner, is incredibly rude and she's a liar. I stayed at Central House for my cousin's wedding. Tammy practically met me at my car interrogating me about if I had spoken with the bride because she owed her money, as if that's any of my business. I'm not the only guest she met in this manner. When I called to book my room, she told me there was one room left and it had a queen bed. I told her that would not work for me, my daughter and granddaughter and suddenly, there was a room available with two twins. That was fine, we brought a pack n play for the baby. One room on one side of us and two rooms on the other side were empty both nights we stayed so I guess she must have had last minute cancellations. I think it's more likely she lied about how full the resort was when I called. We arrived after 12 hours on the road and just wanted to take showers and go to bed but there was no hot water. I called the desk and Tammy's immediately response was, "Well, no one else has complained. You just have to let it run for a little bit." We had let it run for 10 minutes. We timed it. So we went to bed dirty (the beds were hard as rocks, literally like sleeping on the ground) and asked to have someone look into it while we were at breakfast the next morning (we had to go into town because it's not provided). Fred came into our room and "got water so hot he could barely run his hand under it." Apparently 12 minutes is the length of time it takes for the heat. We were put room 602 which is a handicapped room. But there's only a shower, no tub, with no lip to keep water in. So we had to give the baby a bath in another cousin's room and the entire floor in the bathroom was soaked and very slippery. We used the bath mat and one of the towels to soak up some of the water and when we asked for a couple more towels at the office we were told we would have to bring the wet towels to trade them in or wait for housekeeping. There is black mold where the shower floor meets the tile of the bathroom floor. I reached to turn on the lamp to change a diaper when the baby woke in the middle of the night and the socket was pulled completely out of the stem of the lamp. And I have heard of hotels flipping sheets inside out instead of washing them between customers but have never witnessed it until this weekend. The sheets on my bed were inside out. Tammy is such a stickler, I can hardly believe her housekeeping staff isn't drilled on how to dress a bed properly. The wedding was nice, beautiful. However, there were not enough places set for dinner. I called her to ask if she would set up another table and she outright refused. She told one of the bridesmaids she couldn't do it because of fire codes. She told me it just would not be done. Then she yelled at me that I was ruining my cousin's wedding because she was going to have to interrupt her pictures to talk to her about the seating. She blamed the bride for not having made a seating chart. We took 8 chairs from a corner and squeezed them in at tables already set and they did eventually set up a 4 top table in the corner of which all seats were filled. My cousin was told places would be set only for people who RSVP'd. I doubt 12 people showed up who had not RSVP'd but that was Tammy's story. The food was bland and mediocre. The staff were very nice, aside from the woman from the kitchen who came out into the room to tell one cousin's husband that his wife was rude because she went into the kitchen asking where we could find chairs. When I was on the phone with Tammy about the chairs and mentioned the 1 star review I was writing in my head, she said, "Oh that's nice. Come on back!" I told her I most certainly will not and I don't ever plan to break my word. She is incredibly rude and unaccommodating. Reading other reviews, it seems like she has regulars that she caters to and everyone else is just someone to get money from. She is very much all about the money.

We booked central house for our October wedding and it was overall a nice experience. Staff was not too helpful when it came to setting up/ taking things down and their is no actual “wedding coordinator” on site just Tammy the resort owner who doesn’t coordinate much at all and you’re pretty much on your own. I’m not sure if Tammy was having an off night or something but she was pretty rude to us as well as the DJ because we were running a little behind schedule. Bartender was very pleasant and made great drinks. You also must take everything down yourself that night as staff only cleans tableware and dishes which would’ve been nice to know before the wedding ended. Overall it was about 7k for our wedding of 100 people and I feel for that kind of money it could’ve been a tad more accommodating to the brides. The food was pretty good and so were the rooms were clean. The bonfire at the end was a nice touch.

Loved central house. Rooms were good sized, clean and comfortable. The staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. They made you feel like family. Meals were varied and delicious. Not a bad breakfast lunch or dinner all week. If you are looking for a Ritz Carlton with turn down service, 5 star restaurant, pool bar, valet service this is not for you. But if you want want a family vacation spot where you can spend family vacation time, have good meals, clean pool, and enjoy simple fun things like karaoke, bingo, line dancing, a magician, play a little corn hole, volleyball, and some basket ball start driving to Beach Lake, Pennsylvania. Who knows you could be lucky like me and win some money in a rubber duck race on a Friday morning.

I travel frequently and have stayed in everything from tents to 5 star resorts and private communities such as The Ritz and The Timbers. I am pretty easy going and as long as the hotel is clean and staff is nice-not a problem. WELL----lets talk about this place!!!! I was originally going to book here bc it was close to my daughters cheerleading camp. I was unable to get a dog sitter, so we stayed at Keen Lake Campground ( great place BTW). My friends stayed at CHL and we dropped them off from dinner the second night and stayed about 15 minutes- to say hello to our other friends that weren't out to dinner and to check out the hotel for next year. I returned the next day-we all had plans for my family to check out the hotel and stay a little bit and they would come back to me-because there was a wedding at CHL and they wouldnt allow non-wedding guests to use amenities while the wedding was going on-leaving them with nothing to do. They also weren't serving any type of food- it was only for wedding people. We got there and I let my dog out for a walk while my husband ran to the store-and while he was gone, the owner, her name started with a T, zooms up in her BMW and says I need to leave immediately because I was not welcome and there are no pets allowed. ( we saw at least 2-3 other dogs). She also said that I needed to tell the front desk if I was going to visit. I apologized and said as soon as my husband was back the dog would go in the car and back with my husband. She sat with her arms crossed and a horrid look on her face. My husband came and left with the dogs and I went with the friends I was visiting and we took our kids to the pool. I was at the pool for maybe a 1/2 hour when I see this woman coming over near me-I'm thinking to myself-what did I do now?? And she approached me and said " What are you still doing here? I thought I made it very clear you are not welcome here and you need to leave." I was shocked and didnt know what to say. She went on and on for about 15 minutes about how a hotel is private property and I was trespassing and people don't just visit other people at hotels (we all know that is not true....and having people visit could lead to more bookings) I have never been spoken to so horribly by a person I do not know. I was so embarrassed in front of my friends who were staying there. We were very respectful and had no reason to be spoken to in that way. She also had this tone the whole time with my friends staying there- and both rooms had broken air conditioners, ripped screens, no wifi or cell service, and were treated like garbage. Even people at the wedding were hanging out outside of the wedding bc the people and food probably stunk. I have no clue how this woman stays in business. It seems like she must get her regulars each year and a couple weddings and doesnt care about anyone else. My poor friends, it was one thing after another with this woman. She really kind of ruined their vacation-which they paid hard earned money for. They also do not offer over 1/2 of the things advertised, and the boats etc, cannot be used until 10 am and cant be used past like 6. The pool is colder than the Arctic Ocean and the hot tub is like sitting in he-double hockey sticks! The rooms are all outdated, the walls are paper thin, so many things didnt work in their rooms, and you are basically stalked by the owner. Also- there is no sign but my friends were told not so nicely to not use room towels for the pool and they must go and get loaner towels from the office. She said it could be found in the lengthy handbook-which she suggested people should read. I had wanted to check itout with the intent of staying there next year with a large group of people when our kids are at cheer camp, but no one will go back there- between the lack of service, amenities, and especially the owner, please do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. I promise you, you will be very...
