Where do I even start...|One of the worst places I've ever stayed. |-DIRTY|-NO HOT WATER |-NO WATER PRESSURE|-POOR SERVICE |-POOL NOT WORKING |-NO MICROWAVE|-NO COFFEE POT|-UNCOMFORTABLE BED |-POOR WIFI|-DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD|-NO BEACH |-RACIST OWNER ||Now to elaborate. I know the owners are going to get on here and try to disclaim as much as they can. If you check google reviews and the ones here, they hardly ever own up and there are many reoccurring issues that seem to never actually get dealt with. |-DIRTY we arrived to a room that hadn't been cleaned. (sounds like from other reviews that I wish I read before that we were far from the 1st to experience this)|We didn't fully realize it until after we unloaded all of our stuff into the room. Towels on the floor, bed not fully made.|-NO HOT WATER this was a big one. If we wanted to rough it we would have went camping! What kind of motel doesn't have hot water??? Yes the water got WARM...eventually...but NEVER hot. And again it sounds like it's an issue that others have noticed and has not been dealt with. |-NO WATER PRESSURE. Just adding to no hot water was the lack of water pressure. Very weak. Sink was barely a trickle. |-POOR SERVICE You were made to feel like you were inconveniencing Todd if you needed something in the evening when he was done for the day. He was done and wanted to just close up the office. Just seems like they should have someone for service 24/7. But, maybe I'm just used to normal motels. |-POOL NOT WORKING. Supposedly waiting for a part for the pool water heater. Should have gotten a discount or been notified ahead of time as that was going to be a big part of our leisure time. |-NO MICROWAVE. Get with the times. Very inconvenient to not be able to warm up leftovers or whatever.|-NO COFFEE POT. If you want coffee you have to go to the office where there's 1 pot for everyone. |-UNCOMFORTABLE BED. old bed. back killing me. |-POOR WIFI. very spotty and weak. mainly used cell service and hotspot.|-DANGEROUS ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD. A/C window unit sits above floor heater and power cord to A/C hangs right over heater. Had A/C going and it got cold overnight. Heater kicked on automatically since it doesn't have an off switch, just a temperature dial. Was heating everything in front of it that we put on the floor including the power cord to A/C unit. Picture attached.|-NO BEACH. I guess the lake has taken over the beach. I guess that isn't their fault but is still a bummer nonetheless. Just a tiny corner of beach for 1 couple to sit and look maybe. |-RACIST. I NEVER have posted about racism. I don't hardly think about it. I believe much of it is overhyped by the media...BUT I guess I should have figured by the name "plantation" motel there could be some old school mindsets. Todd drove up as we were loading into our 2nd room (that had actually been cleaned) and chatted with me and my wife. Todd was going on about credit card fees and not trusting the companies and Trump and what not..He then asked me in a condescending way "what do you guys (my race) speak, is it Mexican or what is it..?" I said..."you mean SPANISH" ...and I literally don't even speak spanish. I am Mexican though. And he continued to go on about France and Mexico and how they are going to invade America...? I don't know. But, I definitely felt like my race was not appreciated to say the least. ||ALL THAT TO SAY. Be aware of these things if you are considering staying here. Check out google reviews as well. |I hope things change, but I have my doubts. I think he will just continue to deny these things and make up excuses. I was going to say something while I was there, but I didn't feel welcome as it was and I wanted to make others aware. He may have gave us a discount or something, but then things would never change. |I HATE to complain, but I had to speak out about this place. Some people might not even mind these things for a quick 1 night stay. We stayed 5 nights! Room 115. Just...
Read moreI read the reviews of the Plantation Motel but thought that there are always good and bad reviews. So, my family and I decided to give it a try, since it looked quaint, and stay there for two nights while on vacation. In trying to book the room, the owner was not very personable. We arrived on Monday, July 26, 2021, to check out on the 28th. I paid in cash which was a big mistake. I’ll get to why. The owner gave me the key to room 123 and stated, "he spent all day cleaning it". So, after I checked in, we went to the room and were very surprised by what we saw. When you first enter the room, there was linoleum then carpet. Both were visibly dirty. The bed spread looked like someone had just checked out and threw the spread and the pillows up to the headboard haphazardly. Someone poured out something into the kitchen sink and it wasn't cleaned out. The cabinet door was open. And most of all, the room had a very bad odor! We decided to leave. The owner had already locked up the office but caught up to him on his way out and explained why we were leaving. HE WASN'T HAPPY! Kept giving excuses that he cleaned the room and didn't know how it could be dirty. He stated that due to the cancellation policy, he would only be able to give me a refund for one night. When I turned in the key, he stated that he thought I was in room 122 and looked confused. I paid $307 and change at check-in. Received back $155 at check-out. I was furious. All this occurred within a span of 15 to 30 minutes. He was protected by his policy but what about me! DON'T PAY WITH CASH! If I had used a credit card, I could have disputed the charges. After I left, I had thought more about what he said about room 122 and realized the owner had not given me the room I had reserved. No wonder he was confused. Don't you think the owner would know what room a guest reserved? At this point I was glad to be gone. Unfortunately, I had to end my vacation one day early due to the money I was not refunded. Moral of the story, ask to check the room before you pay. If they...
