Tao Cabins — Hotel in Big Bear City

Was very disappointed with the "cottage". They are not cottages at all. It's a building split in two with 2 rooms downstairs and 2 upstairs. There is no closet or dresser, only a coat rack for hanging your clothes. We were there for a wedding and had to hang his suit and my long dress on that coat rack. Everything else had to stay in our suitcase. The lamps on the side of the bed are not lamps, they are night lights. So you can't see anything unless you have the bright recessed ceiling lights on. I did ask for a lamp and they brought one that flickered on and off the entire time. There is no where to sit except the bed and two backless stools next to a tiny dining table. The worst part is that the entrance is extremely dangerous to navigate, especially in the dark. There is a motion flood light, but it doesn't stay on for long. The ground is extremely uneven and there is a step up with an immediate step down to get to the entrance. With no handrails, it's very dangerous. We were traveling with an elderly couple and I was terrified that one of them would fall. The price was extremely exorbitant for this place.

Very involved registration process which I hoped meant that guests would be a well-vetted and quiet. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin and the people in the room next to me were very loud and stayed up until 4:30 am. Up and down the stairs and slamming doors and yelling and just talking loudly. I have stayed at many places in Big Bear over the years and I cannot say enough about the remarkable and friendly service that I have received by the management.
