On September 23rd my wife and I drove from Lordsburg to Blythe, CA where I used 7500 points to stay at the Travelodge by Wyndham Blythe. We checked into Room 114 where after moving our luggage and two puppies into the room we discovered that the lights over the bed did not work. We told the desk clerk that we like to read in bed and would like to have lights that work. She attempted to correct the problem but she was unable to fix the lights. She offered to move us to another room next door (Room 115) which has a lamp on the nightstand and we accepted. However, once in the room the desk clerk found out a floor lamp did not have a bulb in it. She promptly replaced the bulb but she did not try to turn it on. When I tried to turn it on I discovered that there was no knob on the switch and it was impossible to turn it on. We solved this problem by moving a table lamp from 114 to 115. Sounds good so far doesn't it? But wait, it gets better. Once again I thought I would have a cup of coffee. Guess what, no coffee maker and no coffee. Next I looked for an ice bucket to have some ice water. There was no ice bucket so I went to the front desk to ask for one and found there was no need for an ice bucket as there is not a working ice machine on the premises. While I was in the front office asked where the free breakfast and was informed there is NO FREE BREAKFAST! I pointed out to the desk clerk that the sign alongside Interstate 10 clearly says that the Travelodge by Wyndham served a free breakfast. Then I pointed out a directional sign next to room 114 showing guests where the "LOUNGE/BREAKFAST" is supposed to be. Although I was not expecting a free breakfast when I saw the signs informing that Travelodge serves a free breakfast I thought I would ask about. The Room Description on my confirmation reads "Free WiFi, mini-refrigerator, microwave, in room temperature control, coffee/tea maker, hairdryer, HDTV, bathroom amenities, alarm clock, desk, iron, ironing board." As I said before there is no coffee/tea maker. My wife told me she did not find a hairdryer, iron or ironing board. The staff was very accommodating but this property is just terrible. It should probably be shut down and completely renovated. It looks like they are trying to renovate it piecemeal, using furniture from thrift stores. Room 117 has apparently been condemned by the Health Department. It has a sign in the window informing people that it is unsafe. I saw at least two inoperable Pepsi vending machines and one inoperable ice machine. Needless to say, I will not be staying at this Travelodge by Wyndham again. I just wish I had canceled my reservation and got my 7500 points returned to my account. I hope someone takes action on...
Read moreSo the other night we checked in to the bates motel, I mean the travelodge and it was a nightmare....To begin all of their washing machines are broken so there were limited rooms with clean linens. Once the owner (who was doing everything) finally found us a room we tried to get in and the key didnt work so every time we needed to get back into our room we had to call the owner to let us in w/ the master key. When we got in to the room the floors were disgusting so we had to mop them by hand with one of the limited towels provided. Also the shower was moldy and full of grime so we had to clean that too. After we cleaned our room, we finally sat down as the smell of marijuana seeped in though the back window. We dealed with it and pulled back the covers on the bed to go to sleep and a screwdriver fell out (yes a screw driver...) also the drain on the tub didnt hold. The next morning we went down to the lobby to redeem our “complimentary breakfast” and the door was locked when it said it would be open. Along with the other oddities you have to pay a quarter for ice and since they dont give you a bucket you can just go ahead and use your hands. If you dont want to use your hand you always could chip ice off of the freezer which was completely frozen with the screwdriver provided. After all of this the owner wanted to charge me for my pooch. Even though it is pet friendly. If you do choose to stay here make sure you deadbolt the door like i did because the owner mosied in to a ladys room this morning while she was in bed to get his keys that he left in there. Do...
Read moreLower end Trucker's hotel. Ok if you must stop for the night. The Not So Good: Biggest issue is the noise and thin sound proofing. Right next to highway, so lots of road noise. Units are Motel style with car drive ups right outside the door, so you hear the other tenents and their cars. The windows and doors don't seal well, so you hear people walking past the window even if they aren't talking (which they were). The desk chair was peeling, and the bathtub appeared to have an oily bath ring. The nightstands were on a time delay motion detector, which means the plugged in electronics all died overnight. That was an unpleasant surprise.
The Good: Price was lowest I could find. Checkin staff was friendly. Towels and bedding were clean and comfortable. The hot water was not plumbed right (have to point it to Cold to get hot) and took a very long time to heat up, but was fine after figuring that out. (Other reviews complained about no hot water. I think they just didn't have the detective skills to overcome the problem). Room had good internet, as well as fridge, microwave, coffee, a desk, and fixtures that had plugs on them (much appreciated, but note above power-off ). Location had lots of restaurants within walking distance.
I would try another place if I had to stay again, especially for a stay longer than a quick rest on a road trip. The road noise and thin walls would become an issue, as well as the powering off of the...
