Buyer beware. This is a beautiful lovely campground. The only problem with it is there is absolutely no camp host at night. Meaning if you want to sleep and enjoy yourself with your family and have a good time don't count on it. Apparently the campground has had no camp host at night whatsoever for weeks according to some of the snowbirds. There was some pretty bad parties with music you could here from 300 yds away. Lots of underage drinking. And that was just from one spot. Over the weekend there was several incidents. You are left to fend for yourself and deal with every situation on your own. People that have been here for weeks have said they have never seen a camp host at night nor have they seen one even during the day doing anything to the campsites but changing the dates on the reservations. I am a single mom and had to ask one of the nice men that gave us some firewood for my kids to please help me and I have someone to tone it down a bit. So sad after coming here for so many years to see it deteriorate so much. I wish I could say it was me but from what everybody says here and that's been here for a few weeks says they have never seen a camp host do anything here. Lake Mead you need to do better. You cannot leave a campground totally and completely open to not just campers that have reservations but they also let in people who come after the guard shack is closed and camp here who are drunk, drugged up, and God knows what else who have no intention of paying or even leaving a Mark that they were here. These people are the worst because they just don't care. Whether they are homeless or drunk or just need to place to crash for a few hours it makes it absolute hell on the rest of us that are trying to enjoy the most beautiful campground in america. I'm giving it to Stars just for the scenic beauty of it otherwise it would get zero. Something has to be done to keep people who do not belong in the campground out. There needs to be something done where there is an actual camp host at night. We understand the one during the day doesn't do anything but do reservations and that's it but at night you got to have somebody that will enforce the rules. Good luck. If you camp here I hope you come on a good day where you won't have to deal with such a thing. It would be better off to close the campground then to have no host whatsoever. If it weren't for another fellow camper I would feel like we wasted our time even coming here. I don't want to discourage anybody from coming here I would just call ahead and make sure they actually have somebody that works here at night. This place deserves so much better. Also I just want to note one of the snowbirds told me that after a few weeks here they have yet to see one camp host clean up one site during the day and the camp host during the day do nothing but walk around and nitpick everything about what you are doing here and like to write you little pink tickets instead of actually doing any work or enforcing any of the...
Read moreI'm in town for work and staying at the campground. I made a reservation for 5/31-6/6. A big pallet box of men's belongings was left behind a bush and was here when I got here. I left my belongings near the picnic table. I get back today, June 4th and another camper let's me know that maintenance went through my belongings and the old belongings left there, mixed them up and were about to take it all before the camper let them know I'll be back.
It's really genius to not care about things at the campsite until someone actually rents the spot and then you try to throw their belongings away. Y'all are geniuses.
A "camp host" came and put a reservation sign on my spot with the wrong dates and I wasn't sure if they were legitimate camp hosts.
Then last night around 8pm I had a guy in a white truck with Cali plates driving by multiple times and shining his brights in my car and in my face until I got out and started recording him. He asked if I had a problem and I told him I was recording him and calling the park rangers.
I just want to be left alone. I'm not leaving my cooking gear at the site anymore as it will obviously be stolen. I don't even feel safe at night but I'm stuck here for the time being. I'll be recording it all.
I rented another spot because I'm still here for work and two "camp hosts" yelled "hello, hello" and the next thing I know the man is standing between my open door and my vehicle while I was laying in it. It was scary, unprofessional and intrusive. It was obvious they thought I hadn't paid but they must be even bigger geniuses because they can't tell that I rented the spot for three days and it's their only job. They were nasty, assumptive and I didn't think it's a good idea for you idiots to be coming up to people vehicles like that.
What it feels like they've been doing here is a subtle campaign of harassment to get me to leave and I don't appreciate it and if I'm harassed anymore...
Read moreBoulder Beach is a very scenic place to dry camp overlooking Lake Mead. The trees and foliage make it feel like an oasis and provide a bit of privacy and separation between some sites. We were there in winter and it was pretty chilly at night but I'm sure it would be intolerably hot in the summer without the trees for shade. Plus it attracts lots of birds who flit round in them, much to our entertainment.
Even with short days and some shade, we were able to generate enough solar power. We Had to manage it a little but we didn’t struggle. Navigating the loops was no problem with our 50+ foot bumper pull. Sites are level and pretty generous. We had plenty of room in our pull-through to unhook the truck as well as unload our sidecar from the toy hauler. The sites are equipped with fire pits as well as those massive national park concrete tables.
The campground as a whole is well-maintained and clean. Water spigots are readily available. We were even able to stretch a hose to one to fill the trailer without moving. There was no potable water available at the dump station during our stay. It looks like there was some issue and it was cut off -- not sure if that was temporary or permanent. But again, plenty of water access in the campground loops.
The restrooms are standard issue national park style with stalls and sinks but no soap. They are cleaned thoroughly daily. We had no issue finding a site in the off-season but I imagine it's super busy other times of the year.
It's a nice walk down to the lake and along the foot path past the ruins of the Hualapai Lodge. It’s well worth a stroll to take in the scenery and history.
NOTE: there seems to be a lot of confusion between this national park campground and the Lake Mead RV Village next door that offers full hookups. So read the reviews carefully to make sure you’re looking for info on...
