Mitch was so beyond rude from the one and only conversation I had with him. He called me to ask when I would get there which I politely stated” “we actually just arrived and were about to call you to see how we get in” (the back gate was closed and there was no walkway to an entrance). He immediately stopped me and said “we” what do you mean “we” your reservation says one person. I explained that I was so sorry for the confusion and that I tried changing it to 2 his website but it wouldn’t let me and I reserved was for the bunk room so I assumed there would be bunk beds in there. He said “no, you reserved 1 single bed in the bunk room.” This was not clear at all in the website or the confirmation email I received when making my reservation (see attached images) but Mitch insisted that it clearly states that I reserved just the single bed in the shared room and that I have to pay the cancellation fee for not giving him any notice that we were not comfortable sleeping in the same room as strangers. Had Mitch responded professionally and respectfully I would have kindly left a nice review but Mitch falsely advertised a single bed in a shared room as the “Bunk Room twin beds” and was EXTREMELY RUDE talking over me and blaming me for his false advertisement. I hope this helps someone else looking to rent a room through Bunk House Lodge weather it’s to know what to expect while booking your reservation or to save you from booking something you are not expecting from the details you received and dealing with the rude unprofessional remarks I received from the owner of this business. Would not recommend this stay to anyone.

My partner, our pup & I just had a wonderful staycation at the Bunk House Lodge in Breckenridge. What an awesome gem 💎 & home away from home! We were super excited to stay over Breck Pride🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ weekend to celebrate The Bunk House becoming a National and Colorado Historic Registered Place!🙌🏼 As a late 1800s cabin rich with history especially in the LGBTQ+ community this is a very unique place to experience. A loving fun relaxed vibe with plenty of space to relax and enjoy, including a big outdoor hot tub with awesome Mountain Views😍and a super comfortable bed and high quality cozy bedding🛌 Mitch is such an excellent and sweet host & his pups are so darling. We also had fun meeting other great people staying st the Bunk House over good coffee and a nice continental breakfast— an extra treat of a positive experience to start the day. If you want to add something truly special & Historic to your trip to Colorado, this is a perfect place to put on your list💝 We miss our stay already & look forward to staying again in the future!

I'm OBSESSED with this place 😍 The owner Mitch is the most wonderful host! This is my second time staying here and it's the only place I'll stay when skiing in CO. They have a dorm room with 5 single beds , or if you want privacy they have 3 rooms downstairs, and 4 loft options . Hot tub is amazing after a day of skiing . Breakfast is included, which is awesome. Mitch has 3 lovely dogs.. so you must love dogs if you plan to stay .. for The Epic pass holders it's only a 7 min drive to Breck, 15 min to keystone, 40 min to Vail , 50 mins to Beaver Creek . Ikon pass holders , have A Bay , Copper , steamboat, winter park and Aspen Snowmass . There's also a shuttle right there that can take you to Breck or keystone . It's gay owned and operated which is the best part.. I wouldn't suggest it to families with small children . I've met some awesome people staying here and new friends for life !

As soon as you pass from the large gravel parking area through a handmade wooden gate into a wildflower-filled garden, you feel your entire body relax. Really. What a uniquely fantastic "hostel" the owners of The Bunk House have created. It's an architectural wonderland of 1890 meets 2021. While maintaining the historical integrity of this old mining cabin (actively used during the gold rush, it's situated along what was the line of the gold rush), it's been refurbished with the greatest attention to detail and elegance. From the many hand-carved, polished wood staircases & ladders, the ultra-comfortable beds, mattresses and outdoor hot tub, to the neverending collections of wall art, pottery, masks, cast iron and copper tableware, your eyes won't be able to discover every gem even if you stay a week--which you should.

Calling without much notice (because of the 1-70 road closures we had to change our Colorado itinerary), we were lucky and delighted to find an available room at The Bunk House which is typically booked months/years in advance. The location couldn't be more ideal: it's closely accessible to several top ski resorts; idyllic hiking & biking trails abound; superb restaurants in the area satisfy the palettes of any foodies--from fine dining and ethnic cuisine around the globe, to burgers, a brewery that has hundreds of beers (no exaggeration), and delicious (if not uber healthy) food trucks. OR, even better than going out to eat, you can ask the owners to prepare a home-cooked meal that will be one of the best, most memorable meals of your life because of the same skill, imagination, and care that go into making their lodge so beautiful. When we unexpectedly needed to revamp our plans and find lodging that was close to Denver, The Bunk House caught our attention because of its unique historical significance. We didn't see or read that it is an LGBTQ haven, as well as it is hetero-friendly. The main point here is that labels and categories simply don't exist; discard any stereotypes or prejudices in the mudslides where they belong. The Bunk House is an incredibly welcoming, warm environment. It is a shimmering gold nugget amongst otherwise homogenized, soul-lacking condominiums and hotels. Thanks to the owners of The Bunk House, our stay here was far and above the highlight of our Colorado vacation (which was pretty darn great). Being here made me recall some lyrics of one of my favorite songs:

"Yes, I think to myself, It's a...

Bunkhouse Lodge has to be my favorite place I’ve ever stayed. If I could give above 5 stars, I would. My partner and I already can't wait to come back and stay there again. Mitch was the most amazing host and went above and beyond in every way possible to ensure all the guests were taken care of and had a wonderful stay. The place had so much character, coziness, history, and fun. It was magical! The private room was nice and spacious with great closet space for our belongings. We were able to see the private lofts, too, and would be more than happy to stay there next time as well as they were more private and spacious than we expected. The Lodge was clean, organized, stocked with everything you need, had a giant nice remodeled bathroom, included an incredible complimentary breakfast with delicious coffee, and was situated in a perfect location. It was right by/in Frisco, Keystone, and Breck, and it was only a quick 25-minute drive for us to ski A-Basin. Dog and 420 friendly and LGBTQ+-welcoming community. We can’t put into words what a great experience we had. The place had everything you’d ever need and staying there even just one night was the best part of our ski weekend (even though we LOVE skiing). We wish we could have stayed even longer, but are looking forward to visiting again as soon as possible and bringing our pup next time. (Mitch has three adorable friendly pups of his own). The price was more than fair, especially considering the ideal mountain location and everything this place had to offer. Great place for seeing various nearby mountain towns, hiking, skiing, and more. Words don't do justice to how cool this place was. Next time I come back I just want to spend hours hearing more about the history of this gem and spend more time taking in all of the details of the fun decorations. Loved meeting all of the other friendly, judgment-free, inclusive guests staying there as well.

All in all, Bunkhouse Lodge exceeded all expectations, thank you so much for being such a wonderful host, Mitch! You are one of a kind (in a good way). Nick and I will certainly be...
