We had a great time with family despite the oppressive Texas heat. Stay shady or wet is the best advice. I tent camped by the lake, and most of the family stayed in the x,y,z cabins. The AC units can't compete with the daily warm-up at all, but after dark, they caught up. The breeze from the lake was amazing overnight, keeping me cool in my tent. The last day, the wind calmed, and it was noticeably hotter at camp. My fan in tent kept me comfortable enough to sleep. The showers/restroom had hot water but seemed to need more attention. The staff we met were friendly and helpful. The lake was very shallow and kid friendly. Two toddlers in life vests with us that got out a good distance with adults that stood shoulders above water when standing. Perfect for a sit and sip cool off in the heat of the day. Our older kids walked across to the far side beach without having to swim, touching the bottom the entire way. Enjoy, but be responsible, and you will have a great time. Great lake cove for kayaks, floats folding chairs with a pop-up shade in water. Sandy silt bottom for the most part, some muddy feeling spots...
Read moreNice place to camp, fun for couples or like myself just went alone in my tent. Nice store with many items about all you would need, boat ramps and fishing then canoe rentals. Cabins, huts, screened in room, RV and tent spots. Note tent spot prices are now $30 per night but the have a water outlet and a 110v plug in at least all the ones that were around me had them. My tent location was a nightmare for stakes but who knows what's under the ground (I do now, lots of rocks). Some of the dirt streets when it's windy kick up a lot of dirt which isn't a season I like on my food but usually it's not that windy there. The other thing I learned is there is a train track about a 1/4 mile away and it seemed like every 45 mins you would hear the loud horn but it stopped around midnight (or I think it did I went to sleep). Besides the little fix er uppers I...
Read moreThe marina side waterfront campsites are extremely too close to one another and are really narrow. Hopefully you and the neighboring campers get along. Some sites don’t have bbq grills. This camping park is best suited for RVs, campers, or something with its own bathroom. The restroom/shower house is FILTHY, FILTHY,FILTHY! It looks like you could contract a staph infection while utilizing the facilities. The Playground area isn’t kid friendly on a hot day bcz they are metal and there’s no shade. This marina side camping is the same year after year, season after season NO Updates to restroom/bathhouse facilities and from the looks of it no serious regular cleaning. Zoom in on pictures, they are worth more than...
