This is the best place to stay on the coast that I have found so far. It is an older family run, boutique establishment. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and decorated with loving care. Feels like a home away from home. The room I stayed in had a sitting area divided from the sleeping area by a screen wall, small kitchenette with fridg, microwave, and toaster oven, as well as the sink and stove top. The living area had a couch and recliner, flat screen TV, also a 4 seat table and chairs. Queen size bed that was great to sleep on, with nice lavender sheet set. The building sets at the front of the property, but I never heard the traffic on 101. Behind the building is a large yard/garden area the goes to the bluff over the beach. There is a stairway down to the beach, but the bluff is a great place to sit and watch the waves or sunset. It is located about 12 miles south of Brookings OR, and about 20 miles north of Crescent City, CA, both cities offer dinning, shopping, etc. I hesitate to list this place because I love it, but I don't visit that often and will just have to make a reservation in advance next time if it gets really busy. A great place for a family or a romantic...
Read moreI called to make a reservation and they never got back with me so I stayed at another place in Crescent City. On my way through to Brookings, I stopped by to take a look at the Sea Escape. It really is in a prime location, but as soon as you drive onto the property, you can tell that someone isn't taking very good care of the place. It looks like several families live there, like a commune. There is clutter everywhere, like an old farm that isn't being used as a farm and more like it's being used to store everything that won't fit in the barn.
There was a young lady with two small children near one of the doors to a room. She wasn't inclined to say hello, but her children, of course, were sweet. There were toys everywhere which begs the question, is she a long-term resident (renter) or the owner?
Don't waste your time here. I'm inclined to believe that a couple bought this place with the intention of fixing it up and keeping it a functioning motel and didn't borrow enough money and now they're probably behind on the payments and nothing is...
Read moreDo not be fooled into thinking this is anywhere near a nice place to stay. The buildings and grounds are in generally poor condition, the rooms smell like dogs, there is no ocean view from the rooms. In fact the motel is right on the side of a major highway, and the ocean is a walk and then a climb down a scary set of stairs. The on site manager left me feeling I might be a victim of identity theft, so I had to request all my information be destroyed following my departure. The manager seemed to be more interested in buying my wifes jewelery for cheap, than doing her motel work. Where do motels get people like this? She definitely gave me a very creepy feeling. Really would rather stay at a motel six for the money they charge here for a fleabag motel. Sorry, just thought you...
