Date: 8/31 - 9/2/23 Room Booked: Cabin 2 Doubles
Pros: Location is IMO the best out of all the lodges inside the park. You're only 30 mins away from Logan Pass (plus, the drive on GTTSR is much easier from the east), and

The big deal was the super lourd noise coming from the hot water faucet…and we did not have enough hot water for the four of us to have a quick hot shower.
All this aside, it was fun to sleep in this pretty yellow Cabin. We had neighbors in 7B and we were worried because of the thin wall separating the two units but they were quiet, so all good. It would have been good to have a fridge in the room but there was not a lot of space to put it. No AC but with windows open we were fine.
We had dinner at the two dog flats very close to our cabin and the service was excellent (Thanks Paul) but the food was so so. We had ribs and they were dry and super hard. Normally baby back ribs will be juicy and tender and the meat will separate from the bones easily but the ones we had were stiff and it was very difficult to cut the meat from the bones…worst ribs I ever had. My wife had a trout fillet, supposedly local but it did not taste anything…One of us had a burger and it was good. Well overpriced but it is the price to pay to be in a national park…
The next morning we had the breakfast buffet and it was good and the service as well. The only issue was the coffee that was awful…I am a coffee person and I had only one sip…
To note that two cooks were playing super loud music while working during breakfast, not a big deal but it was weird to hear rap music while watching the great view of Glacier National Park!
We chose this place to have a tour the next morning to do the Going to the sun road and it was overall a good experience. Less crowded than on...
Read moreThe best thing about Rising Sun is its position on the Going to the Sun Road, especially if coming from the East. The complex included a restaurant/gift shop, a general store, motel rooms, cabins, and campground. We stayed in a cabin with a shared wall. (We could hear our neighbor snore.)The accommodations were rustic with paneled walls, creaky windows, and old carpet. There was a decent queen sized bed with good linens. The bathroom was small- holding just a toilet and small shower. There was a space heater on the wall, which was helpful in the mornings. The sink was in the room. The staff was welcoming and there was a decent restaurant on the premises, though generally a wait to be seated. Both the store and the restaurant were a longish walk from our cabin. The location had a view of the surrounding mountains but you could not see the lake. I had expected the lake to be closer when I read it was across the road, but it was actually across from the campground and required a short walk down the busy highway. Boat tours and the Glacier Park shuttle can be accessed there. Wi fi was only available in the lobby which I didn’t mind, but what I did mind is that there was no seating area. It seems to me it would be fairly easy for the proprietors to consolidate the gift shop shelving so that there was a place for guests or those waiting for a table in the restaurant to sit. It was odd to be there in the evening with people standing around everywhere looking at their devices. Overall, Rising Sun was an okay place to stay amongst...
