We stayed there June 16-19, 2014, and were very pleased with our visit. It's really a nice place to get away from it all and relax. We were in the area for a white-water rafting trip with Raging Rivers Rafting Company. We rented the Sycamore cabin, because it sleeps six and I had four of my children with me. It is a clean and comfortable cabin with it's own private bath and shower. It has no TV, phone, radio, or clock. This was a plus for us, because we wanted to spend time together. The campground has three wifi hotspots so we were able to connect from our cabin when we needed information or wanted to watch Gomer Pyle episodes on YouTube together on my phone at night. Our AT&T mobile phone could not get out, nor did we have any 3G or 4G signal, but if your family is there to spend time together who cares? Because there were so many in our party we had occasion to use the common restroom/shower facilities and, like the other reviewers, found them to be immaculate. The host, Terry, is very accommodating and wants to make sure you have a good visit. He has all kinds of sports equipment you can use. We liked how well shaded the campground was and how grassy. The thing I remember most is how quiet and peaceful it was. The three days and nights we spent there we never heard the sound of a TV, radio, stereo, or any traffic noise. It's on a dead end country road far from the highway. The only sound we ever heard was children playing happily from time to time. It was our first trip to Bryson City, NC, but won't be our last. We picked winners when we booked with Raging Rivers Rafting Company and Smokey Mountains Meadows Campground, and in the future we won't take any chances with...
Read moreAbsolutely the worst advertised campground I’ve ever been to in my life. They stated it was “riverside” ummmm nooooo!!! It’s basically a big open field with absolutely no privacy or shade. Picture Woodstock. The “barely there stream of water” was covered by trees at the campsite and there was basically just a huge mound of dirt where they told us to set up. We asked for a different spot and they said they were full. We paid SIXTY SIX dollars for this tent camping experience on the river!! We asked for a refund and they refused (otherwise, I wouldn’t have left a review at all. They should have made it right.) We luckily found a beautiful spot at Deep Creek Campground otherwise we would have had to drive two hours home!!! Do.not.be.scammed.
Edit to owners response: Not at any point did I leave a “threatening” email. I reached out and stated that I’d be happy to not leave bad reviews if your business made it right and refunded us when there was no way in heck were staying there in that field. I hate leaving bad reviews because I know how it can affect a business. No hard feelings! It worked out better for us because Deep Creek was free and absolutely beautiful! (Just 6 miles down the road and probably 100 campsites on a...
Read moreWe made reservations because of the very good reviews this campground has received. So, it may just be us, but it wasn't the best experience. We were very late due to mechanical problems and unusually heavy traffic on the way to North Carolina. I couldn't reach anyone at the campground by phone, although I got an email with our assigned site number. We got lost in the campground and almost ended up in the creek. When we finally found the site, the adjacent site was so close that I was mired in the mud trying to get in. So, rather than cause a rukus in the late evening, we just parked by the bathhouse and sacked out till morning. Next morning, we looked about and it appeared that the campground has some permanent residents and stores RVs as well. As noted in their literature, the place is muddy when it rains - I think I underestimated just how muddy that would be. We decided to go somewhere else for the next night. I can't say the place is bad. As Good Sam parks go, it's probably OK. For the price they asked, I prefer to stay in campgrounds that aren't also residences for folks in RVs and have more easily identifiable sites with a riprap...
