Lovely little motel in Buellton, less than 10 mins from Solvang. It was formerly the Sleepy Hollow Motel but has since been renovated and rebranded as Hotel Hygge, which has very minimalistic Scandinavian vibes. It is basic but very cute and the rooms were exactly as pictured. I love that it comes with a mini fridge. You also get your basic amenities like free wi-fi, coffee makers with keurig pods, flat-screen tv, etc. There is complimentary parking right outside your room (you can park right in front without having to worry about dragging your luggage far because the property is all on a single level and there is parking right outside of each room). My friends and I loved the self check-in process (they send you a code for your room via email on day of arrival) and were impressed with the Malin + Goetz bath products. The walls are a little thin so you may hear your neighbors if they are loud but we didn't have any issues during our stay.
The only thing that was disappointing was that the fire pits were not working. We were told they would automatically turn on after 5pm but then came back that night to discover that they still wouldn't turn on even though we had already bought supplies/ingredients for s'mores. I called their sister property, the Sideways Inn, to inquire about it and the lady said it was a miscommunication and the fire pits don't actually work right now but that we could come over to the Sideways Inn to use the one there (You can actually use any of their amenities there). We did and that was nice but it was a shame we couldn't use the fire pits at the property we were staying at. Hope they fix that soon because they do have a nice outdoor area with 3 fire pits! Other than that though, I definitely recommend the property to anyone visiting the Santa Ynez Valley area. It's a quick drive to the wineries, Los Olivos, Solvang and Ostrichland. In the town of Buellton itself are some pretty good restaurants (including the famous Andersen's Pea Soup), breweries (Firestone and Figueroa Mountain), and your basics like Starbucks, McDonalds, CVS, Albertsons, etc. My friends and I really enjoyed...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hotel Hygge last July 2023. The check-in process was a little bit frustrating. We knocked on the front door of the office and no one was there. We were not aware that the check-in was fully online. there was no sign outside stating that the office was closed or that we needed to check in online so some signage would be appreciated. But once we got a hold of someone, we were able to get our room information and check-in. we later encountered other travelers from another country, who were also quite confused, so we helped them out as well. This should be a no-brainer. Other than that the room was very clean, well decorated and nice, it also had nice quality shampoo and conditioner. We only stayed there for one night and it was just what we needed. One disappointment was they said you could go to their sister hotel which is about five minutes or less down the road and use their pool. The pool was closed. You would think that they could communicate with each other and just give us a heads-up that the pool is not available since it's advertised. the other location had a nice bar where you could get a drink and some food. It was a really cute location. I would see if that location is available to stay if we ever go back. the hotel Hygge was in a great location. Just a short drive to the main solving downtown area. That's really what was most important to us. They had a nice outdoor area with fire pits and corn hole. We enjoyed having some desserts by the fire in the evening, you have to turn it on manually when you're ready to use it. Another complaint is that it's not super apparent how to get ice or how to turn on the fire pits. If you want to be a hands-off management property, then you need to have appropriate signage to help people know exactly...
Read moreI absolutely Loved this hotel. This hotel has spacious parking so your guaranteed to park in front of your room which is awesome. I love how all you need is a # code to get into your room and not having to go to the front desk to check in. The shower had good water pressure and nice hot water. They even provide you with water, coffee, and a game to play which of course we tried out. The fridge was a Huge plus! The walls are paper thin however we had no one on either side. I absolutely loved the night speaker for sound waves etc. The bed was super soft and I loved the big rug. Also they leave you a breakfast goodie bag which was super nice! Driving distance was close to everything you need and want. Would love to...
