I usually camp near the Gruene area but the family wanted to try something different. I made reservations @ Guadalupe Canoe & Camping. We arrived and were taken to our camping area. It was fairly busy for a Friday night.||||We set up camp and settled in for the night. There were several campers in the area that were loud. Not really a problem. As the night went on some of these campers got louder and more worked up. At about 2 am people start asking them to settle down. This only served to make them louder. They also started using extremely bad language. I had children with me as did a lot of the other campers.||||Other campers were arriving way into the early hours and they seemed to join in on the aggressive behavior being displayed by the original loud campers. I went to find someone that worked for the camp ground or security but no one was around.||||It wasn't until close to 6 am that it became quiet enough to get some sleep. The next day started off the same way. Some of the "drunk" campers started walking around the camp looking into peoples tents.||||We decided to take a float trip down the river and rented some tubes for the trip. I was told at the time of the reservations that we would be taken upriver and dropped of to make the trip back to camp. Instead they told us to get in at camp and get out at teh second bridge. The tubes that they brought down for us were small. Not the usual size most other companies rent for the trips. They were also in pretty bad shape. One of them started leaking several minutes into the trip. ||||When we reached the exit location we called GCC to let them know we were out. We were told to walk up the bridge and wait. We waited for 30 minutes and had to call again. This was very uncomfortable after a 4 hour trip in the sun and having to sit on side...
Read moreWe went for the first time Sunday 6/26/16. Upon entering the grounds we paid for ourselves and one child who was with us and two of our kids which were riding with our friend directly behind us. We were not charged for our 1 year old. The prices were reasonable and the location was great. We drove in and parked and carried our gear to the river. Our friend told us they made him pay for one of our children which we had already paid for. We said no problem we will let them know when we leave. We had a great time while there. Upon leaving I stopped at the gate and spoke to the young woman who we had paid and told her that she charged us twice for our other child and requested that she refund our friend. She refused and told us well, she was charging us for our baby then. She argued with me, told me that she was the "supervisor" (mind you this was a young girl in her early 20s if that). She called me a "Sheisty MFer" which almost got her beat down by my wife. And I mean she just almost got it. Some other woman came out calmly and refunded our $3. After such a nice time, it amazes me that this business allowed this young girl employee (who may have been a family member of the owner) to talk to a customer the way she did. Some other man was mouthing, we don't cater to people. I'm not sure if he was the owner. Well being that you don't "cater" to your customers and that you treat them they way you treated us (they have a lot of bad reviews) we will never be back. That $3 just lost your business several hundred as we would have been regulars and brought friends who we now will share our bad experience. Word of mouth advertising is the best or worst and you just...
Read moreI will not be camping at the 5 Dollar Spot EVER again. The owner, this old guy has a little dirtbike that he rides around the property. He kept on creeping by and spooking my dogs. They would run over to him and start barking. He then told me to put them on a leash. I told him I didn't bring leashes (which I didn't.) I told him I would leave if he refunded my money. He refused and I stayed the night. He sent this old cop over there who was actually pretty cool and understanding. Cop just said to watch the dogs. The guy on the dirtbike came over again this morning saying that my dogs were "challenging him" when what was actually going on is that he was challenging me. Guess what, you just earned yourself a bad review in every place mentionable. I will keep going to the other places where they are just happy to have people and animals come out and camp and enjoy themselves and where the owners of the property aren't patrolling and harassing the paying customers. Oh and by the way it gets really busy on weekends and there is always road noise from the highway no matter what day you go. If you are looking for a nice and peaceful camping experience, do...
