So I'll start by saying that, despite the less than stellar accommodations, our group still had a great time on our weekend getaway.
I called to book, after picking out the cabin that I wanted on the website. I asked some questions about the room configurations and based on our group, the girl I talked to suggested cabin 22. She explained the layout was different, but otherwise didn't mention any major differences. Well... there were some big ones. First, the cabin you see pictures of on the website has a lovely, full sized kitchen with a modern, full size stove, and large fridge. Newer style cabinets and a bar height table with 4 chairs. The kitchen we got, was hardly big enough for 1 person to stand in, had a tiny half sized stove that I'm guessing they picked up at a resale store and was probably made before I was born in the 80s 😅. Now, mind you, this is a cabin they advertise for up to SIXTEEN people. Try cooking for 16 on that stove! It took us TWO HOURS to cook a pack of bacon. The fridge was also apartment sized, a few decades old and plagued with streaking rust. Again... the cabin is made for 16 people??? The table was a tiny little thing with 2 chairs. We ate in camping chairs on the porch. The pictures on the website shows newly updated bathrooms. Ours were anything but. Our shower had all sorts of fun, unidentifiable stains. The beds were the icing on the cake. Pretty much no one in my group slept all weekend because the mattresses were so old there was no stuffing left. Just springs. We joked that we should've just tent camped... the ground was probably softer. And definitely bring your own pillows, these went flat probably a decade ago. Oh and the bedrooms in the 2 bedroom unit (cabin 22 is a triplex) don't have windows and the guests in those rooms said it was VERY hot no matter what the AC was set to. The AC in both the end units was great though. A lot of reviews mention that it's dirty... honestly, was it white glove clean? No. But it didn't feel like a biohazard or anything. Just seemed like a cabin that's been used back to back all summer. There is a bit of a mildew smell but again, you've got people tracking in river water all summer sooo.
OK so all that said, we didn't rent this cabin to go camping with the expectation that we would be staying at the Ritz Carlton. I was just disappointed because what is advertised is NOT even close to what was provided.
For the good parts; the staff at the store is super sweet and helpful. The store is stocked with some basics at reasonable prices (for a camp store!). The float was lovely, and our shuttle was ready and waiting when we arrived at the end. There is a bar on the property and the prices are reasonable and the bartender was great. The property is beautiful and not too rowdy. There is plenty of beach frontage to hang out and swim at. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean. Everyone we met was super friendly. It seems like a lot of people come there fairly regularly. We caught several fish too, in both the lake and river.
All in all, it wasn't a bad stay. I just kinda wish I had known what I was walking in to and that they would...
Read moreVery disappointed. We made plans to go to the current river for the weekend in the early spring, did some looking around and found this place and thought we would give it a try. We made reservations on the website where it says they have a cabin with two bedrooms and two queen beds per room which was going to work out great for us since we had 8 people going with us, all friends and famil. We had a confirmation email that stated exactly what we thought we were getting they also gave us the cabin number and the password to get in to the cabin. After driving 5 hours we finally get to the cabin and get inside to find out it was nothing like what we were expecting. The cabin only had two beds and was very dirty and smelled terrible, it was a mix between musty wet smelling and stale cigarette smoke. We thought there must have been a mistake that there is no way that expecting anyone to stay in this, but after talking to them we found out that the information that was on the website was wrong and they had since fixed it and when we showed her the confirmation email showing what we paid for and thought we were getting she offers a blow up mattress and to give us a hundred dollars back, That was not going to be in any was sufficient to to convince us to stay in that nasty cabin. So we just agreed to leave, get our money back and find something different for our weekend and they agreed to give us our money back and said it would be very to our account by Monday morning, Well Monday came and went and still was not refunded the promised money so we called and they gave us several excuses about their bank and said it would be there within 48 hours, it has now been two weeks and after several phone calls with them they are not offering to refund us the money and keep giving us excuse after excuse. Needless to say we will never be going back to this place and I hope that my experience here will help someone else out to not make the same mistake that I did by choosing to to go here for our weekend vacation, you will be severally...
Read moreGlad we were more concerned about floating, it was a rainy weekend but we were able to get on the river, & not so much as where we were staying. About the only good thing I can say is it was quite & the roof didn't leak.. This was not a 3 bedroom and 3 bathroom that was described when booked or advertised on the website. No one had any privacy. There was only a couple of couches to sit on & 3 leftover 1960s chairs around a outdoor patio round table that was in between a bed in the living area & the actual living area. This is advertised as a 14 person occupancy & we had teen age boys & girls share spaces. Not a single sliding door functioned except the awkward one inside between sleeping spaces. The old Murphy bed that is just pulled out in the kitchen is hard & very inconveniently located. The queen "room" has a glass sliding door into the bunk room with a green sheet tied for a curtain, not to mention the pass through window in the same bedroom with the nailed down roller blind for "privacy". Windows were covered in gross white film that blocks any views. Blinds are broken. Beds are horrible. And the stove is slanted so even making eggs would cause them to slide to the edge of the skillet. Over all we were glad we had shelter from the storms but we won't be returning. I do not know who owns this now but it is definitely not the standards I recieved the last 5 times I have visited over the last 15 years. Disappointed in our stay but glad the water was...
