Our family has vacationed at Burke Mountain Resort Hotel during the summer months for the past 3 years. Here is our honest review of our experience. It is our hope that the resort management listens to and responds to our review. We also hope that our review will help those who are considering staying at the Hotel decide if the resort will suit their needs.||The Hotel Accommodations Review & Suggestions for Management:|.|-Google AI suggested the cost to build the hotel was ~50 million. It's gorgeous. It has a "ski lodge" aesthetic. Views from the rooms are to die for. It doesn't matter which side of the hotel you stay in. The views of the valley and Willoughby gap can't be beat. The backside of the hotel you have views of the ski area which are also uniquely beautiful. |-Rooms have kitchens and many rooms have balconies with chairs and tables. Our advice is to get a room with a balcony - just let the hotel staff know of your request when you book and you're likely to get a room with a balcony. |-We've only stayed in one bedroom and one bathroom suites. They offer a full kitchen with everything you need to cook meals while you stay. The unites have: utensils/silverware, cups/mugs/glasses/wine-glasses, plates/bowels, toaster, microwave, electric oven, refrigerator, pots/pans/skillet, whisk/cooking utensils, dishwasher, etc.|-Living room has a pull-out sofa, coffee table, gas stove with 60 min. timer, and flat screen LG TV above the fireplace. There is also a kind-sized bed with flat screen TV. |-The rooms are carpeted with tile in the kitchen. There are granite countertops in the kitchen and bar-stools. There is also a 4 seat kitchen table.|-The bathroom has a tub/shower, granite vanity, nice sink, amble closet space.|-There is a closet in the main room with access to a clothes iron and ironing board along with safe to keep valuables.|-There is ample close space in the bedroom. |-King-sized beds are nice but appear to be twins pushed together but suffice.|-Balcony was perfect - views galore! Having a table and chairs was nice to relax on and watch the amazing sunsets/sunrises.|-Small coffee maker and in-room coffee is nice to have.|-Elevators are present in each main hotel building from the lobby.|-All rooms have air conditioning in the warm summer months and have cozy gas fireplaces for the winter months.|-Vending and ice machines are on each floor and there is a guest services shop in the lobby for essentials including snacks/beverages for purchase and a gift shop.||Recommentations for Management:|1. Pillows are all the same. Hard not soft. Would advise down pillows with various options for guests who prefer soft pillows.|2. Extra blankets for use while sitting on the sofa and as added layer of warmth for the beds would be nice.|3. Assure housekeeping dusts surfaces i.e. bedside counter tops, gas-fireplace mantle, window sills. Also, cleaning under beds would be nice as well. The carpet wasn't vacuumed under the beds.|4. Assure housekeeping leaves more than two bath towels for guest use per day. 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels, and extra soap/toiletpaper/shampoo would be helpful. |.|Hotel Proper & Recommendations for Management:|-Sportshop is a nice touch for memorabilia from our trip to the Resort. |-Arcade is fun for kids.|-Pool is lovely and has views of the ski mountain.|-Restaurant is open daily for dinner and has a decent menu and full-serive bar including specials, microbrews on tap, and good service. The views from the pub/restaurant are lovely.|-Lobby is nice with fireplace and has coverage pull-up to the front door for offloading luggage. There is no bell hop and no concierge service.|-Grounds look pretty good including flower beds and grass was mowed and kept up.|-Gym is a nice touch - plenty of space, machines, treadmills, free weights, etc.|-Arcade for kids (and adults) is a nice touch and our kid looks forward to it every time we come.|.|Recommendations for Management:|1. Expand the restaurant menu and include "kid friendly" options, have a full breakfast option in the restaurant. It would be helpful to mirror Cafe Lotti in East Burke quality of breakfast options. We didn't like nor partake much in the free breakfast option at the hotel as the quality of food was quite poor. We either cooked breakfast or went to Cafe Lottie for breakfast options in town which was much better quaility.|2. Lobby floor was dirty. There were spots where there was gum stuck on the tiles. It's a beautiful lobby and to see the tiles so dirty was an obvious eyesore and some TLC from housekeeping would keep it looking good for years to come and improve guest experience.|3. The paint above the front door entrance roof was pealing and flaking off. Most would not notice this, but we did. Again, a little TLC would go a long way.|4. Pool grounds needs some work. It's a lovely pool and hot tub! There were weeds growing between the pavers and that needs to be addressed. Also, the pool doesn't have enough chairs, tables, chaise chairs for all the guests. We would suggest replacement and expansion. A pool cabana bar in the summer months would only enhance quality of experience for guests. Also the flower beds outside of the pool area could use some weed-work!|5. Please have towels and towel disposal baskets both at the pool and in the gym for guests. This is strangely absent and no hotel of this stature would neglect having towels at the pool and gym! Also, having fresh water in the gym would be nice for guests and is commonly seen in just about any hotel gym these days!|6. Most gams and price kiosks at the Arcade are either "out of service" or not functioning. It was upsetting to our kid. Would advise management to overhaul this aspect of the guest experience. Upkeep of the Arcade machines and prizes is mandatory if you keep the arcade open. Please address this problem for guests. If not or not financially solvent, just close it.|-Room service for the restaurant would be a nice touch and is currently not offered.|.|Summary: Burke Mountain Hotel & Resort offers affordable and luxurious accommodations and amenities for skiers, families, individuals/couples, mountain bikers visiting Kingdom trails. The value/affordability is better than surrounding resorts i.e. Stowe. There are gaps in guest services that are tolerable but ought to be improved by the general management to make this a truly valuable and enjoyable...
Read moreWe recently stayed four nights at the Burke Mountain Hotel and Conference Center for a wedding and were very disappointed. |The room was nice but there was a layer of dust at least an inch thick on every surface. On the balcony of one family member's room there were empty beer bottles. There was half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom and there was a box of tissues that had two in side of it, with no back ups in the room. |When we arrived the person at the desk was not friendly or helpful. Two of the days the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful. We were not informed on arrival that there would be no no service in rooms for the weekend so we had to go searching for toilet paper and kleenex that we found on a cart in one hallway. We had had an issue and I went to the check in area to get help and there was a sign saying they were off helping a guest and would be right back. I waited patiently for five minutes, the front desk clerk came back and greeted me. The phone rang, he answered it and proceeded for fifteen minutes to help the person on the phone before addressing my issue. I shouldn't have had to wait 20 minutes before being helped or even offered an apology for the long wait.|We were charged a fifteen dollar resort fee and am not sure why. On Friday, the only nice day of the weekend, we went to use the pool around 11 am and it was locked up even though it said it was open 9AM to 10:00 PM. They had a skimmer running but no one ever checked on it even after it had shut off. We sat in the hot tub area till around 2 PM. The only place you could eat breakfast was in a cafeteria type setting with tables and backless stools just like when we were back in school. |Around 9AM the fire alarm went off on our last day at least five times for about fourty-five seconds and then would stop. We had not informed that there would be work being done on it or if there was an issue with the alarm, nor was an apology given when we checked out.|The hotel has a lot of potential but managment and staff need to get their...
Read moreI gave you 100% of the money - you give me 100% of the amenities you promised on your website.
At face value - this is an awesome find if your only concern is the lodging. My wife and I wanted to do a day-trip to Lake Willoughby, and follow it up with one night in the area to reset. We found Burke Mountain Resort while searching for stays and thought the hotel would be a great fit for our 5 year old.
We started searching on Google and found these guys, and begun to dig a little deeper. The rooms sounded like they would fit what we were looking for, but strangely enough, they had no photos of their rooms, but they did have descriptions. We scoured other websites to get a sense of the rooms and their layouts, but there were no labels on the photos to tell us what rooms the photos were of. The ones provided are of the King Suite. It’s a separate room with the king bed, a living/kitchen combo with an excellent view.
The views are AMAZING, I’ll say that, but the amenities listed on the website were not accurate by the least.
Arcade - They had maybe 5 of 20 machines working, with no prizes for points. When less than 40% of your arcade is functional, is it an arcade anymore?
Hot Tub and Heated Pool - Hot Tub not working, no heat in the pool
Coolers in gift shop were half stocked
One person working front deck. KeKe was awesome, she deserves more money than what you’re paying her.
Parking - Ambiguous at best. No direction on where to go. Parking was minimal for number of people staying.
If you’re going to run a hotel that is this nice, keep up with it. Lazy people are at the wheel and it shows. Get it together. This is a one of a...
