Instead of typing out my experience again I will just mention the Email I sent to the resort (with no response)
To sum it up- wouldn't mind if we weren't treated like dirt. RUDE customer service. Also, according to their terms, if you stay in an RV and the pool gets crowded, they will ask you to leave because RV guests get lowest priority. Tent campers are not allowed access to the pool at all.
Good morning, I have been debating over these last few days on whether to write this email but I know the importance of satisfaction and that we can’t always be in every place at every time. Also, after sharing my experience on a popular RV Facebook group, I saw that others have had similar experiences and thought maybe you’d like to know in order to address them. My family was there this past weekend and it immediately didn’t start off great. We were assured by the lady at the entry gate that we could purchase firewood for a fire that night. When we went to check in less than 15 minutes later we were told by an unfriendly staff member that yall don’t sell firewood. I told her we were told minutes prior that you do to which she responded “we’re out.” As we were walking out there was a HUGE stack of firewood by the fire pit near the restaurant. I would’ve been more than happy to purchase three pieces of wood from the personal pit yall use to satisfy my 2 and 4 year old children rather than spending an hour the next day going into town. However, that wasn’t an option. What was even more frustrating was the following day that wood pile was even higher so it was coming from somewhere… The night we checked in we went to the bar restaurant and I asked the girl working the bar, whom was extremely distracted with what I found out later fixing her watch, how big the flatbread pizzas were. She responded “like… the size other flatbreads are. Like, any other flat bread” which was not helpful at all considering there are many different sizes of flatbreads that I have gotten at various restaurants. I will say that through the night she got a little more friendly but that wasn’t even the worst experience. The following night we had a reservation at the restaurant. We walked in and no hello, nothing, by the waitress. There were maybe two other tables inside and one outside so definitely not busy. My girls said to us that they wanted to sit outside. I asked if that was ok and she said “I guess..” in the worst tone ever, not in a nice friendly way. I was beyond shocked. I figured maybe it was reserved so I asked again “is it ok that we sit out there? We can sit inside if not” to which she said “I mean… I guess if you want to sit out there then yeah” again extremely rude. She took our order and I ordered the chicken without Prosciutto which I pronounced “pro-shoe-toe” and apparently offended her to the max. She stopped writing but still had her head down, looked at me, and said “you mean ….. (pronounced differently)” I told her you know exactly what I mean. That was the final straw. A man started helping her who was very kind. After posting about my experience and asking others if perhaps we just went on an off day, many other people responded that they had similar experiences and wouldn’t go back. Other people said because of what I posted they wouldn’t go and encouraged me to post on a public forum and to leave a public review (this was in a private group). I don’t feel that is appropriate because I think it’s fair to give people opportunities to address issues before blasting them. I felt that we were extremely unwelcome and due to the fact that we had small children. For the price we paid, our experiences were simply not acceptable. I encourage you to work on customer service with your staff because I feel I handled it much better than some others would’ve. I actually know I did based on some other responses people told me that I should’ve done!
Thanks for your time, I look forward to...
Read moreI’m writing a very in depth review based off of my family’s experience at this resort in the hopes that it helps future guests better prepare than we did due to lack of knowledge. •First I want to start by saying we loved our 1 bed room, it was large enough to accommodate 4 adults & 2 dogs, the window seat is very soft and large enough for 2 average sized adults to sleep, there’s also room for an air mattress but it will be a bit tight. The room was clean & had a rustic, cozy feel. I loved the porch with rockers. • The night sky is breathtaking here as is the nature all around. The AC was great & I like the cement floors for cleanliness considering it is pet friendly. •The coffee pot made very awful coffee, The only other option is The Overlook Restaurant which is a sit down, buffet style breakfast so we had to ask for to go cups & fix our coffee in the middle of dining guests. I recommend bringing your own coffee pot if possible. •Everything at this resort is over priced. Buffet is $19 a person, a bag of ice is $4, tee shirts from the gift shop are $25. There is only 1 poop bag area and trash to dispose of dog waste, we kept ours on the porch in a covered container & made the walk to guest service where the 1 poop trash can is located, nightly to dispose of it. •In my personal opinion there are way too many rules. No grilling on resort property which kinda goes against the whole idea of camping. It isn’t because of the eco system like they claim because if that were the case then the other 2 campgrounds wouldn’t be able to grill & they do. The “beach” where grilling is allowed offers no shade from the Texas sun, you can’t even grill behind the parking lot of the beach where the picnic tables are. Bring an umbrella or other similar cover from sun. •No open alcohol allowed in public areas except for the courtyard area next to the bar, again this also goes against the whole purpose of what the camping experience should be but that’s my own personal opinion. Bring something to drink your beer out of if you want to walk the campground. •The campground is not for resort guests so if you find a fantastic, shady fishing spot on the camping part of the resort you will be asked to leave as we were because we were resort guests not campsite guests. This doesn’t make sense to me as we are all guests & our money is going to the same place. Campsite guests aren’t allowed to use the pool on the resort site but of course they are allowed to eat in the overpriced restaurant. The pool closes at dusk & is very small & crowded during peak season , we went on Memorial Day weekend. The s’mores put always was full so we were unable to even use it. • If you’re planning to have many hiking trail options be aware that only 2 trails are open between spring & early fall when protected wildlife & birds are breeding which is great that they do this for nature but not so great if you want many hiking options. • Try to plan around the weather forecast. My family was very disappointed when we were unable to rent kayaks due to wind and our cruise was also canceled due to wind. The wind was between 8 -12 mph while we were there & there were many people boating & kayaking with their private boats & kayaks. If you can bring your own from someplace else, do not rely on the Canyon of the Eagles because their rules are a bit extreme. • Our am hiking guide Willard was fantastic , he was very knowledgeable, friendly & fun. Our pm hiking guide was not as knowledgeable or fun , we didn’t see one animal & it felt like he really wasn’t trying to. The resort fell short of my expectations, but if you plan accordingly you can have a great time as the rooms are great & the area is...
Read moreThank you Canyon of the Eagles for the memories! I appreciate your dedication on our wedding day. We can’t wait to return! - Kirsti & Jason
Look no further for the perfect getaway wedding venue near to Austin. Canyon of the Eagles provided excellent service, personal attention, tasty food, lodging, and a gorgeous setting to create an amazing wedding weekend. 60 friends came to celebrate (most from out of town). We wanted to stay together and get to know each other while still transforming the space into a dressed-up wedding vision. They delivered this and more!
Planning: Shout out to Shelby Carmack (logistics) who is amazing. From our tour, menu tasting, and our coordinator visit, she was spectacular. Her authentic love of the property, hard work, confidence, attention to detail, follow-up, and can-do attitude is unmatched. All questions were answered. I felt confident in my decisions. She reliably would track down answers. My interaction with Angeleigh Brieno (Event Sales), was originally just for the contract. I did not realize she would be there for the wedding. What a bonus! They both made sure everything was as expected. On my wedding day, Angeleigh worked hard right alongside Shelby. It was hot and they were on top of everything even when breaking a sweat. Angeleigh even moved rocks to the foot of my arch when it was falling over. So grateful! Shelby made sure our guests with mobility issues were cared for with golf cart rides. They both are the essence of what makes this venue so great!
Guest Rooms: They are rustic but nice. The ones towards the lake have gorgeous views and lovely balconies to sit out on. It’s a perfect mix for the nature lovers and “city slickers” with amenities for both including a comfy bed, fridge, and microwave. The first night, we were able to take advantage of the cul-de-sac of rooms and create our own block celebration with corn hole, food, and fun.
Decor Staging: They provided a temperature-controlled space to store our decorations. Shelby had all ceremony chairs and reception tables setup well ahead, so we had time to create our wedding vision. At the end, a room was provided where we could move all the décor to organize in the morning.
Getting Ready Room: They have recently redecorated and refreshed the getting ready space. It is perfect for the bridal party to have hair/makeup done and spend time on the wedding day.
Food: Wow! Hats off to the chef. She did an amazing job. It was far from any buffet event I have been to. She personally attended our tasting and wanted to make sure everything was to our liking. The guests raved about the selections from the appetizers to dinner. You can’t go wrong with any tier choice. The tasting food was so good we took the leftovers!
Ceremony/Reception: Shelby helped select a perfect “first look” spot on the restaurant deck and cleared out the tables for us. There was a picturesque view during the ceremony at the overlook. Oh my the sunset! At the reception patio, I was concerned the cobblestone patio was too uneven – it was fine. Shelby worked with my vision of table setup which worked great. It truly was a dream when it was all lit up in lights. There is wonderful sitting areas just beyond the patio for guests. Just perfect.
Room Booking: The only small issue I had was how the assigned room blocks worked and guests calling in to book. However, by check-in Shelby had helped to make sure everyone was accounted for and had been moved to...
