The Mason — Hotel in Butler

My family and I recently had to evacuate Florida due to Hurricane Irma and without a destinantion we packed and headed up North. We must have called over a hundred hotels, motels, inns, you name it. Everyone was booked. We were desperate and worried sick that the storm would catch up to us and we'd have no where to keep safe, and then a miracle happened, or what I like to call Serendipity.. My sister found The Mason Hotel online and called the owner right away. His kindness over the phone would be just the beginning of an amazing journey to come. From the moment we arrived to the very last minute we left we were amazed at how incredibly beautiful and hospitable this town and its people were. The hotel itself is gorgeous, modern and cozy, extremely spacious, and best of all a very reasonably priced! The owner and his family are the most generous loving people you will ever meet! Even everyone in town was so helpful and concerned for our well being. Constantly offering a helping hand. This hotel, this town and these people are little pieces of gems we were so fortunate to come across. Ron, we will never ever be able to thank you enough for all you did for us. We only wish there were more people like you all in this world. For sure we will keep this experience in our hearts forever...THANK YOU and God bless you all!!

--updated with owner response-- We stayed here (at the North location) because this location, was closer to family. For what we needed it was adequate. For the rate, I would have preferred the space be in better shape. I give these as a heads-up, we will be communicating to management more directly, none of the issues were so bad that we made an effort to address them during our stay. Biggest pain was condition of beds, they were both well used and my wife and I found ourselves rolling into the center of the bed. Neither of us are large. The set screw in the bedroom door handle had fallen out which meant closing the bedroom was a challenge without having the handle come off the door itself. There were several patched but unpainted spots on the walls, and the floors in the common area could have been cleaner. The North location seems more geared to long term renters than the VRBO-like crowd.

Again we didn't report this to management during our stay, but it did detract from the accommodations. The owner followed up to our direct email and relayed that we had accidentally been booked in a room that had been blocked out for...

Not a conventional "hotel" Almost like a multi unit Airbnb. No reception desk to check into. Emailed 10 digit door lock code day of arrival. Definitely an add on to the office building that seems to be the parent company of many businesses in the small town. Washer and dryer were included as a plus. Wi-fi sucks. Not many choices in the town to stay at. Room was good and clean. If I had to return I would stay again only because the options to stay at are...
