Avoid at all costs. The staff are predatory and scheming. 5 star reviews here may be faked.
This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. I booked a week long reservation for a one bed, and the Indian person on the phone, Ali, just said OK and did not ask me for my card number, email address or any other information. When I go to check in, there's a long line at the front desk. Ali is wearing a button up shirt and pajama shorts. I tell him I have a week long reservation, he says he doesn't remember. He starts shouting over me and yelling over me while I explain my situation. Because they were all booked up, my one bed reservation isn't available but he offers to give me a two bed for the same price. He says they should have a fridge and a microwave, and to tell him if they don't. Well, they don't, and I go down and ask for a fridge and a microwave. They say that they'll get me my microwave right away. It never arrived.
Ali, the indian person at the front desk, not only from other past reviews but also from my own experience, is a rude and unstable person. In other reviews he gets violent. In my experience, he was extremely rude, verging on mean, ignorant, does not remember things, does not listen, etc. He is also anti-american, as you can see from responses from the owner, where he said quote "no towels for filthy american scumbag." They respond saying they care about customer experience, but it is all lies and nothing changes.
After I checked in, I immediately did not want to stay here any longer, but it was too late so I just decided to spend the night instead of an entire week. I went to the front desk and told Ali that I am changing my week long stay to just a night. He just mumbled OK.
When I checked out, there was a lady at the front desk instead of Ali. She had many tattoos. She was joking to the guests about charging them a dollar to check out, making people confused. I checked my bank, and I was actually charged one dollar when I checked in and checked out; she wasn't joking -- I was not notified of this charge. She was talking about her criminal past as we were checking out. As I was checking out, I told her the room I stayed in and that I wanted a receipt. She gave me a totally wrong receipt for an entirely different person who was supposedly staying there, with a totally different price. I noticed and had to go back to the front desk and I explained that I was not the person on the receipt and reiterated my story about my reservation -- she remembered the receipt that Ali made for me the night prior and gave me the total of 83, 93 after tax. I told her that I was originally staying a week, but changed it ot a night and told her to make sure 93 was my total and not 600+. She assures me that the charge was only pending, and that it'll be 93 dollars after a while. Sure enough, the entire 650 dollar charge for the entire week goes through to my bank, even though I only stayed for a night. I called the front desk the day later and spoke to Ali again. I told him I need a refund for the nights that I didn't stay. He mumbled something and told me to call again on monday. When I asked why, he hung up on me.
The entire hotel was filthy. Many of the employees were or are on drugs and seem to also live at the hotel. The employee's children run around the hotel, floors are completely covered in filth and debris, never having been vaccuumed. None of the employees had uniforms, making it basically impossible to distinguish them from guests. Our rooms were OK, but beds were very old and uncomfortable with worn out springs, bleach stains on comforters, etc. No do not disturb sign, and like I mentioned earlier, no microwave or fridge despite needing to. No coffee or cups either. There was a TV, but they neglected to include the remote, and the room phone didn't even have our actual room number on it, but instead had a different room number.
This is not a safe place. Avoid. Staff are criminals...

I booked through Priceline and paid in full in advance for a room at Red Lion Inn in Butte in July. When I arrived at the location the night of my stay, the smell of cigarette smoke in the lobby and hall was overpowering, and there was a sign on the front desk indicating I should call it so that someone could assist. I was surprised no one was there during what I imagine is peak check-in time, but I tried the number. I had to try three times before someone actually answered and came to the desk. The number seemed to be some sort of cell phone as opposed to a corporate line.
When the man who arrived after the phone calls started looking up my reservation, he insisted I had to pay him additional money because, according to him, Priceline didn’t give him his fair share. How this was my problem was beyond me; it seems like that would be a conversation he’d need to have with Priceline, as I’d paid in full and indicated as much to him. However, the man essentially held my prepaid room hostage until I gave him more money. A couple entered around this time to check in as well, so I felt pressured to move along by paying so I could finally get my key after an almost 11-hour drive and settle in.
When I got to the room, which happened to be an accessible room, the chemical smell in it was overpowering, hardly an improvement over the cigarette smoke in the lobby and hall. There was no mini fridge, microwave, clock, or even a phone — not that anyone would answer calls made from it regardless. There were wires sticking out of a wall where a smoke detector should’ve been — extremely dangerous if a disabled person was relying on such a warning system — and red splatter that looked like blood on the light switches by the bed. I took pictures of these items and have attached them below so fellow customers can see for themselves exactly what I saw.
I spent the next hour or so trying to get a refund from Priceline. And when, despite all this, I tried to sleep, I realized I was beneath folks who didn’t intend to do the same, as I heard thumping of some sort throughout the night and into the early morning, when I swiftly exited.
I’ve filed complaints with Priceline, Sonesta (the parent brand of Red Lion Inns), and the Better Business Bureau, and this location is still trying to deny a full refund. AVOID,...
