Cons: A male employee tried coming into my room (317) while i was indecent. I had put the door hanger on the outside of the door to let them know we dont need the room to be serviced, yet someone tried their key and the doorknob to come in. When my fiance stopped the male employee from opening the door, he noticed that the employee didn't even have a housekeeping cart. This was very suspicious because it was 9am and the employee who tried opening the door didn't have the authorization from us to come in, nor a housekeeping cart.
There is a leak coming from the closet roof, and all maintenance and housekeeping did was put a trash can under it. Its okay for now, and it seems to be catching water. Just gotta be careful due to the staff saying the electrical is up there too.
The fire alarm woke us up at 11pm. I grabbed my fiance and baby and ran out of the room. Once we stepped out and saw the other patrons exiting their rooms, the alarm stopped. We all went back to our rooms. Another fire alarm went off around 3am. Same thing, grabbed my fiance and baby and went out the door. Less people came out of their rooms. Then the alarm stopped. We all went back into the room once again. The last fire alarm woke us up at 9am. This time, my family was the only one out of our rooms. The alarm was a joke at this point. When asked about what happened during breakfast conversations with staff members, a technician said that it wasn't kids or a prank being pulled. It was a technical error of the hotel that's causing the alarms to go off.
At checkout, my fiance spoke with the manager. She could barely speak English, but didn't want to budge at all about any compensation of our stay. He told her that it was inconvenient being woken up by the alarms, and the leak in the room, and the staff member who tried coming into our room. The manager just kept looking at the computer, and said she can take 20% off. Once another party came to the front to check out, they also complained. The manager said she can only take off 30%, and to contact corporate. That's understandable to contact corporate because there's only so much that the manager can do. In all, I wouldn't recommend staying here. Yeah, it's a solid bed, and yeah the provide standard breakfast, but there was nothing relaxing about coming back to the hotel.
Pros: friendly staff member- the lady in the front (black hair, pale skin) was extremely nice! She was able to check me in, and answered all of my questions. She even recommended me some sushi places nearby. She's great, i would like to make sure she is recognized! I wish she worked when we were checking out, I would like to let her know she's the only staff member who would empathize...
Read moreI choose this location because I was working in the area and the Hampton Inn was completely booked. I decided to reserve a suite for the entire week. On the first night, I took a shower and due to the short and thin cheap curtain, water had leaked all over the entire bathroom floor and bedroom. I had to use every towel to quickly dry this up and I almost slipped and fell because of this. I immediately notified the front desk and explained what happened, and was told by the woman on the phone that I might need a longer shower curtain. I said that would be great, please bring up some more towels along with that replacement shower curtain. When the woman from the front desk arrived (Ruby) she handed me four large towels but no shower curtain. I immediately asked her where is the longer shower curtain as you mentioned on the phone? She responded with I'll have to check and get back with you. I waited in the room for her to come back, but after 30 minutes, I figured I'll just go downstairs and ask the front desk myself since it was getting late and I wanted to step out for something to eat. Ruby responded with "We don't have any long shower curtains". I was very frustrated at this point, because nobody bothered to relay this information to me. I then asked her what do you plan on doing to fix this issue with the water leaking all over when I take a shower? Ruby and the other employee working the front said we don't have any long shower curtains and maintenance is not available. I said so I'm just suppose to take a shower and keep a supply of towels when the shower leaks water all over the floor? They both just looked at me with a clueless uncaring face. I then decided to change my reservation for one night, cancelling the remainder of my stay at this unprofessionally managed hotel. The room however was a dump because of this due to the water wetting the carpet causing it to smell from the water touching it. This is not the place to stay for a business trip because the computer and printer were out of order along with the laundry facility. This will be my last time that I ever stay at a...
Read moreA perk of being a Diamond Elite member in the IHG Rewards program is complimentary upgrades. Ruby at the front desk seemed clueless when I asked for an upgrade. She also assigned me to a room facing the freeway. The room was very noisy. I immediately returned to the front desk to ask for another room & again mentioned that I am entitled to a complimentary upgrade. (There were several upgraded rooms listed on the website as available, even after being checked in.). I also asked for a room not facing the freeway. She said there were none. I asked her to take another look at the inventory & she found one not facing the freeway.
Got to the room to find it was not an upgraded room either. There was an issue with the room heater. Apparently they had some electrical problem & the wall control unit was not working. Grace at the front desk assisted me with this issue. I mentioned to her that I was suppose to get a room upgrade (this was during a weekday when several suites were available). I even showed her screenshots of the IHG website showing the perks of a Diamond Elite member. She said Ruby was the one who assigned the rooms & had ALREADY ACCOMMODATED ME (by moving me to a quieter area of the hotel). I said there are suites available for sale on the website & I am supposed to be upgraded. She said she thought she heard of this before, but didn’t know about it. I said it wasn’t her fault that the manager had not trained them properly.
I had planned to stay additional nights, but opted for another Holiday Inn Hotel where I was immediately recognized as a Diamond Elite member & put in an upgraded room (on a weekend when they are more difficult to obtain).
Additionally, a couple of the light bulbs were out. This is something the housekeeping staff needs to keep on top of.
Then, to top it off, even with the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door, a housekeeper knocked on the door before 9:30 am or 9:15 am. I said “don’t you see the DO NOT DISTURB” sign on the door? She replied “I’m sorry”.
Management needs to step it up if they want me to return to...
