Camilla Inn Hotel & Suites — Hotel in Camilla

Updated to respond to the owner's comment: "We appreciate your feedback. But due to the hurricane that was the last room available and you were given the option to change the room , which was declined by you." This response does not acknowledge the condition the room was in. We also checked in well into the evening (& told them ahead of time that this would be the case) so there was ample time to clean the bedding & towels at the very least. We were NOT provided the option of changing rooms, which is also a non-issue as the owner's written response states that we got the last room available. It can't be both ways.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: We evacuated here prior to a big storm, so I'll give the location three stars as anywhere was safer than home. Camilla, itself, is quiet and quaint. The people were friendly. This "Inn/Hotel": It looked old - which would've been fine had it been clean. There were cigarette burns in the comforter and blue ink marks stains on the sheets. The towels were filthy; one had holes in it. It had been neatly folded and placed on top, so it was seen but apparently not as a problem. Half of the light switch plate in the bathroom was missing. The bar in the shower was broken. The ice bucket tub was filthy, as were the plastic bags in it. The cabinet around the mini fridge was broken and leaning to one side. The door wouldn't close unless you manually adjusted the cabinet to stand upright. One of the lampshades had chunks missing from it. Another was covered in plastic. We were grateful for a place to stay during an emergency, but the quality was severely lacking. We had to go out and buy our own bedding and towels. You can't call yourself an inn or hotel (I'd love to have seen a "suite") and have people pay to rest in...

I came in from out of town for my mom birthday bringing my family and we paid for a double bed room and was given a single bed and once checked why it was said I actually asked for a single bed which I didn't, but we didn't complain, the phones don't work to call front office and you don't have things like coffee or any refreshments or anything from people stay I probably will never use this hotel again terrible service and the rooms not up to standards I'm so disappointed with bringing my family here to experience this I have traveled many places by far this is my terrible experience ever with the stay here. I will never be back again and on top was hit with a 30 surcharge for a already damaged room so I didn't see why to charge for a rundown room doesn't make sense at all. My first time back in nearly 4 years home and to have a bad experience like this wow thanks camilla inn further and foremost sir again I hate people who lie on me I wasn't giving any choice of room ok the only thing was mentioned to me when I checked in was a smoking or non smoking room that's not letting me know what I am getting but if you continue with the lies then it's okay sir I'm not going back and forth with you and this room wasn't great at all holes in the wall, telephone doesn't work you tell me what is your choice of a great room wouldn't all of this supposed to work when in your room so ok I can bet you this my family and anyone else I know will know to run pass this hotel I am a born native of camilla and very known here please don't keep up with the lies because if you do sir I will let it be known how you do business ok so please don't try to gaslight me like I don't know shall...

Horrible hotel. I would not even give a star, but you have to in order to post your review. When you walk into the lobby, you smell a distinct unpleasant odor. I decided to give it a shot to support the local economy, so I decided to ask for a room. It was a very bad mistake. When I saw my room and had a chance to check it out, I realized how bad it was. As soon as I walked into the room, you can notice how badly it needed to be renovated. It also had unpleasant odor. One of the chair had a duck tape covering a rip. The lighting in the room was low even with four lamps. You can tell broken place in the bath tube was simply fixed with wall plaster. I did not feel comfortable about staying. I decided to return my key and ask for a refund so I can go to another hotel. Another surprise. I was not able to get my refund because it took me more then 15 minutes to check the room. According to their policy, if you stayed in the room for 15 minutes or more, you will not be refunded. When asked why, the front desk clerk simply stated the hotel was locally own, not a franchise, so it is what it is. Since I have to, I return to my room and unloaded all of my belonging. Not only did I felt uncomfortable about staying but also unsafe. This hotel was the first hotel I slept with my gun under the pillow. I would be ashamed to recommend or refer this hotel to anyone. I will be happy in the morning after I check out. I suspect this hotel will be out of business soon so that is why the local owner will do what they can to get money for now. DO NOT COME...
