Unfortunately, this is the first time I can relate to the occasional reviewer that states they couldn't give zero stars. But I'm getting ahead of myself. My wife and I were on a day trip in the area photographing waterfalls and around dinner time stumbled across the Falls Village Inn. It had a wonderful outdoor patio dining area that caught our attention and a quick scan of the online menu revealed a number of entrees that sounded appetizing so we decided to give it a try. I believe we arrived right around their start time for dinner and there was only one other couple seated in the patio area. We were greeted by I believe the innkeeper and were asked if we had reservations, which we didnât, but they were able to accommodate us with a small 2-person table nicely located under a shade tree and directly in line with the entrance the servers used. As we perused the menu 3 to 4 other parties started to arrive and were also promptly seated. From the chit chat between the new arrivals and the staff it was clear that many if not all the parties were regulars or friends/family. At this point no one had visited our table although every server had to pass right by our table including the innkeeper. Then we noticed that all the other tables had been greeted, given water and had their drink orders taken. Still, no one had arrived at our table or even acknowledged our presence except for the one time the innkeeper walked under our tree and collided with one of the hanging decorations and they made a funny comment about it as they passed. Soon all the other tables (4 to 5 at this point, that all arrived after us) were receiving the drinks they ordered and their food orders were being taken. After sitting there for 20 minutes with zero attention from staff and watching everyone around us being served and interacting with the staff, I can honestly say that my wife and I have NEVER felt so unwelcome and ignored from any other establishment weâve ever visited. After another 5 minutes of being completely ignored, we got up and left but did enter the front of the inn to express our disappointment with the experience. One of the servers and the innkeeper were at the greeting station as we entered and the server recognized us from the patio. We explained why we were leaving and the server responded that they were just getting ready to serve us. The innkeeper stayed silent the whole time. Unless youâre interested in starring in an episode of the Twilight Zone (yes, our visit was that strange) or youâre a regular or family/friend of the inn staff, you may be ignored and made to feel unwelcome like us. There are plenty of other excellent establishments close by so donât let this negative experience deter you from visiting the area. We did visit another area establishment that evening and we were welcomed, promptly served and our food order was brought out by the chef. The experiences that night couldnât be more polar. Iâll be submitting the 5-star review for that other...
Read moreI agree with another reviewer's title: "Restaurant OK. Avoid the Inn." We stayed last year and I put off writing a review because I sometimes don't like to write them on the immediate heels of disappointment. Our issues with the Inn included: 1) No one there upon arrival to a locked door, despite them knowing we were coming. We had to sit on the front porch with a view of a utility garage for over 1/2 hour after trying to get through to an actual person on the Inn's phone line. 2) ZERO provision made for early morning coffee. ZERO, despite saying that coffee would be available on the ground floor. There is a sort of breakfast coffee shop place across the rear of the property, with unfriendly hours, and if it were raining/snowing you'd have to go out in the weather to get to it - irritating, let alone if you're handicapped. Otherwise - since it's a super tiny town, SUPER TINY - you have to get in your car to drive to a place in some other town that serves breakfast. 3) Really bad air conditioner unit in the room, and in general, other than a carafe of water as I recall, the room was not well-outfitted and the lighting was terrible. ||||Taking all of this into consideration, it is Not what you expect when booking into an INN - and supposedly one that Bunny Williams has had a hand in advising. The restaurant on the other hand had surprisingly good food and wine, although the service was a little slow. It seems to be a locals' meet up spot and watering hole since there is so little else in the immediate area. We would not stay in...
Read moreWe had a birthday reservation for ten people on Burger Night. There were small containers (wine bottles with stoppers) of warm water on the table, but when our waitress finally came to greet us, it took what felt like an hour to receive our drinks.
After almost another hour to get our food (mind you, we only ordered burgers and fries), the medium-sized burgers were okay...many at the table complained they were over-cooked...and the bacon on mine was like leather.
We barely saw our waitress, and she never asked if everything was alright with us. Luckily, I knew I would need more catsup, as my burger arrived, so got some extra on her next trip out.
Needless-to-say, my brother-in-law and nephew were thirsty for more beer, and took it upon themselves to head to the bar. They came back commenting how the bartender made it clear how she had been inconvenienced.
I had been to the Inn on a few other occasions, since its new ownership. I was unimpressed and shocked by their prices. Even though Burger Night seemed like a reasonable deal (the burger was just okay, but the fries were pretty good), the service was a real downer.
The owner needs to hire more wait staff, a more efficient cook, and either an extra bartender, or one that can pour beer...
