I’ve been a regular visitor to Carlyle for our annual family reunion, and this year’s stay at the Mariners Village Hotel/Lodge was unfortunately memorable for all the wrong reasons. Upon arriving after a long five-hour drive, we were greeted with a series of unfortunate events that turned our anticipated relaxing stay into a stressful ordeal. After settling in late at night, we discovered a bed bug on our pillow. After I stressed my family would NOT stay there overnight, the manager offered to move us out of the cabin and into two adjoining hotel rooms, assuring us that they don’t have a pest problem. After transplanting our 3 sleeping little ones and then all of our luggage, we didn’t get settled in until about 3am. The following morning, I approached the manager to discuss a refund for the cabin and address the lack of air conditioning in both rooms. To my dismay, the manager refused to issue a refund at first and suggested that the situation was somehow our fault and that WE brought the bedbugs. This response was not only unprofessional but also insulting. On top of that, they immediately turned around and rented out the cabin in less than 24 hours (that family also immediately checked themselves out). The level of service and cleanliness has continued to degrade year after year and this will be the last time I ever stay at this hotel. I highly caution future patrons….buyer beware!

Absolutely disgusting. I was in town for a family members 60th wedding anniversary. We checked in early, put our bags in the room, and left for the anniversary party for approximately 5.5 hours. I paid $50 to check into a dirty room, which I didn't notice until I got back. When this was brought to their attention they took no responsibility. I found blood/blood stains on the bed and shower curtain, hair stuck to the bathroom wall, mold on the shower curtain, dirty pillow cases, and the entire 3rd floor we were on smelled like weed. I left that evening and refused to stay after finding the blood. Another guest I spoke to as I was leaving mentioned they had checked in the night before me around 12:30am, and found bed bugs as they were getting ready to lay down. I'll be reporting this hotel to the state health board also.

Would not recommend this place. My room was filthy.Walls, floors, sink, toilet seat and tub were visibly dirty. The bed looked ok for what I could see.Screws to door hinges were almost off the hinge. The manager said all the rooms were like that and that it was ok.The manager went to the room with me and saw everything but stated that their concerns are only Covid and the bed being clean.I’m a nurse and as dirty as the room was there were no Covid precautions being used.He became very argumentative to the point I didn’t feel safe there. The lobby and snack areas were even dirty.Outside of the building looked nice and a good view.Location was good but I would never stay there again.

Dealing with Mariners Village was the most stressful thing I’ve ever dealt with. My husband and I booked our wedding over a year in advanced with them and anything that could go wrong or get changed, did. We were promised 2 cabins and then 6 months prior to the wedding we were told sorry no cabins and then 3 weeks prior told “we got you one cabin” and they wanted praise for that. No way, we needed 2 to have bridesmaids and groomsmen get ready in each separately. But we couldn’t do that. We also had 20 rooms blocked at an $80 rate per night (which is more than enough money other hotels just as nice or nicer we’re $65) and all my guests ended up paying $116/night when they checked out! Raj the owner didn’t even care he said there was no promise of $80/night even tho that’s what I was quoted when booking the block and my guests were quoted when they called to book. And when the block was full my guests were told to book at the hotel across the street which they did for $65/night and a week before wedding Raj buys that hotel and then cancels all of my guests reservations. I found out 3 days before my wedding and his response was “yeah I acquired that hotel last week” he didn’t care until I started getting very upset and demanding rooms for my guests and then he said he would get rooms cleaned up for them and honor their reservations and yet they still paid more than they booked for! He also told us we could stay in reception hall as late as we wanted, no time limit and then as the party was dying down around midnight his wife kicked us out, locked the doors with my father in laws phone inside and all my presents that I was going to bring inside our room. She didn’t care and said we could get it in the morning. They were very disorganized every time we called in to check on something before the wedding they always acted like they had no idea who we were even when we would say our last name and wedding date and it would take them forever to figure out who we were. When we got to the hotel few days before our wedding our room wasn’t ready which we knew was a chance because we were a couple hours early so we left to get food and came back 2 hours later and still waited 2 more hours for a room. When my father in law came to check in next day at 3 pm his room wasn’t ready! And I saw it happen to a few other guests who weren’t there for my wedding. But they had no problem making sure we were gone and checked out by 11 am that Sunday with the reception hall completely cleaned out too! And the worst thing of all is the way Raj treats women guests. I don’t know if it’s just because of his culture or what but any time I would talk to him or my mom or my wedding planner or any other women I saw he would ignore us or only address the male we were with. RUDE! Just the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Which is a shame because the ceremony island was beautiful and the land is great for photos. They own such a beautiful venue if only they hired more employees, learned how to do business better and treat their guests with the best customer service...

First off this place called me when I was 2 hours away asking if I still was planned on making the trip . It was only 5pm and you can’t even check in until 4 pm so I wasn’t even late .. I kinda laughed but he was seriously gunna give the cabin I had already paid for to some one else and was very rude when I told him I was going to be there but I was still driving . Hopefully I will be able to post pictures . I can’t speak for cabins 501-504 but Cabin 505 was Gross! It states it is right off “ the lake” in any window you looked out of was the cluster of the other very close to one another cabins . There was no fire pit as stated , and the “grill” was ankle level with no grate ! On the inside Upstairs was simple the blinds caked with dust and there was dead BUGS covering the inside window seal. Now for the downstairs ; everything was filthy! The kitchenette which had a small 4 table top burners as a stove which had mold and food all over the foiled covered pans . Seriously how hard could it be to reline the stove top pans with new foil?? The microwave had food and mold splattered all over the inside , when you opened the drawers there were dead bugs and mice poop in them , the refrigerator had mold all inside the door seals. The sink was gross . Very outdated couch and chair with pillows that had stains all over them . Went to go to the lobby to see if they had vending machine since we arrived fairly late it didn’t work but the lady nicely got the key and opened it up . Got the snacks back to the cabin , opened it , they tested funny as hell. Looked at the bag the chips and candy had expired march of 2024 it is now April 2025 ! Paid 20 bucks for 4 little snack size chips and 6 canned sodas which where flat. It was a joke . If you don’t care about filth , grillin or relaxing on the porch that was suposed to over look the lake this would be great for ya. Would not recommend to anyone . Very...

SO UNPROFESSIONAL!! My husband and I booked a suite room with a jacuzzi tub in advance. We put a card on file for the reservation a few days in advance and said we would pay in cash. Manager called the day before and said they would charge $50 for a deposit, which was fine. We said again we will pay the rest in cash when we arrive, which they confirmed was acceptable. They charged the same card later THE SAME DAY for the rest of the amount. We arrived the morning of our reservation for confirm it was paid in full and they gave us a receipt saying it was, and we enjoyed our day in Carlyle. When we returned, they tried telling us we didn't have a reservation at all because we called and cancelled it the day before, which we did not. We showed them the receipt they gave us THAT MORNING and they accepted it. We got to our room, and it did not have the jacuzzi tub we specifically requested when we first made the reservation. We immediately went back to the front desk and told them the room was wrong because we requested a jacuzzi suite. The manager said it must have been a system error and the only jacuzzi suite they had available was at a completely different hotel. We requested a refund, which they were very hesitant on. When they did issue it, they said it will take 4-5 business days. When we asked them why they charged the card to begin with after we told them during the original reservation and when they called about the deposit that we would pay cash, they said it was a "system error". We will...
