Budget Inn — Hotel in Carthage

Actually I changed my mind about the review. We didn't enjoyed our stay because the general manager was unprofessional. When I came into the office he didn't say hi, can I help you? Just stood there with a frown on his face. I told him that I room smelled like sewer and to check it out. To which he replied " I'll take care of it tomorrow." While I was gone to get our order he decided to go ahead and check on it. While there he told my husband that he was tired and will come back tomorrow. He also said "that we been nothing but trouble and if there's any damage we would have to pay for it." So I wasn't to happy about it and wrote a review and of course he see it. He called our room my husband had no clue what I diThe motel manager started yelling at me asking me why I gave a bad review and I couldn't even reason with him and hang up. Calls again and demanded the name of the person who paid for our room or he'll call the police, I told him and hang up. Call again, I picked up the phone and disconnect and kept the phone off the hook. Calls my cell phone twice I didn't pickup and comes knocking on our door and decides to go ahead and fix our toilet and said " I want you to leave tomorrow morning." Went about doing his job. I have no idea why I apologize to him and asked if we could stay and to which he said to remove the review and I did. And call again to make sure I did. I flew to Tennessee to see my mom who isn't doing well. We didn't deserve this kind of treatment. The General Manager was unprofessional and he shouldn't be managing a motel if he can't live up to the expectations of his job. You never know what someone might be going through and to be treated with disrespect. I'm glad my mom didn't passed away during my stay and not have to feel even worse for the treatments he put us through. Makes me wonder if he even...

To start i booked the hotel with expedia, didn't see any way to book my dog. I called the hotel and said i had booked the hotel room but that i needed a room dog friendly they were fine with it and said it would be a extra 15. So when i get here the guy at checkout wasn't thrilled about the dog but he charged me for said dog, he then told me i couldn't leave my dog in the room now mind you i was here for a funeral. So i had brought my dogs kennel to leave him in the room. Im paying a extra 15 bucks for my dog to be there, so to me that means my dog can stay in the room when needed. Than i get a call from the guy at checkout basically fussing at me for not booking a pet friendly room and showing me the 15 dollar extra charge on his site. Okay im fine with the charges i signed the receipt and i already paid for it. He than says he needs to talk to his boss. Why? I already paid for the dog friendly room my credit card was charged i have the receipts. Never got another call from him. Also the bathroom had mold on the wall. The wall in the room had a hole in it with a tissue stuck in it. Its a nice room. No bugs, tv works, wifi didnt work for us. Extremely Impressed! Not at all what I had expected. The former Motel layout has gone through some impressive renovations. Spotless completely renovated rooms that are welcoming, and cheery after a long day’s drive. Bed was comfortable, bath immaculate, and service unparalleled. They also appear to be exceedingly popular with the sport fishing crowd. Those guys were enjoying the evening in front of their rooms and they appeared to be as satisfied as I with their accommodations if not more so. If you’re in the area, this establishment couldn’t be rated more highly by a world traveler like myself. The Ritz, it isn’t. However, by comparison to others that I have seen…it is definitively The Ritz of its class. Edit: As with others posting here… I was told by locals that the motel was $50-60.00 per night. When I arrived the manager tried to tell me that it was $100. I told him that I had asked locals and eventually, he came down to $60. For which he demanded a “Good Review that you show me before you leave.” Otherwise, all of the above...
