I am very disappointed with my experience at this particular TownePlace Suites. Upon my arrival to my assigned room, the door was propped open with the safety latch. I arrived in the evening; hence, I do not understand why the door was left open.
When booking this location, I perused the website. The pictures are awfully deceiving. I booked it because of access to a pool and the possibility to lounge. The pool is ridiculously small with cheap plastic chairs. And, the management closed the pool at dusk; not a specific time, but dusk. Hence, the ability to use the small pool (20X18) was limited and very disappointing.
After returning from an outing in which we were out all day, the door was once again propped open; and, we suspect that it was left that way by the hotel service staff who only PARTIALLY cleaned the room earlier in the day. Completely unacceptable.
At 330 in the morning, the smoke alarms alerted due to a low battery. When I contacted the front desk staff, she stated that she did not have the ability to fix it because no one from maintenance was available. Therefore, my husband had to remove the batteries from all of the smoke alarms. I had a 2 bedroom. Not fun trying to resolve an issue at 330am.
The hotel kitchen can only seat 6 to 8 people for breakfast. If three families arrive at the same time, only two may get lucky to sit and eat; otherwise, guests must take it back to their rooms to enjoy it properly.
On top of this, the decor is old. Further, the vents in the room were filthy. So much so, that the either dust or mold was starting to travel onto the ceiling. The fan in the bathroom did not work and appeared to be severely worn. The appliances have rust. Fixtures are cracking from the ceiling. I took pictures for the record.
In all my years of staying with Marriott, I have NEVER stayed at a location as poor as this one. I am so disappointed and embarrassed because I brought another family with me and I purposely booked this location. I would have never guessed, in a million years, that I would encounter such a substandard hotel. I cannot believe that this is even a Marriott hotel. Where as I usually only look to Marriott properties for my stay, I will now branch out to ensure this will never happen again.
This property needs a...
Read moreWe were, 1/7/22- 1/9/22, in Cary to visit our new family member "Lucy". She was born Christmas day and this was our first chance to see her. I searched for a location close to her home and found this hotel.
Grounds were clean upon our arrival. The entrance is quite cramped and leads to a opening, too narrow for excessive luggage, to the front desk. Our receptionist was very friendly and off to the room. The room was large, two bedroom suite and looked clean. COVID has restricted cleaning on a daily basis and we were fine with that.
The beds were comfortable, the room did not have any repulsive odors, but we could hear people in the next room and above us. Walls not insulated enough to keep out noise from adjoining/above/below rooms. The kitchenette was clean and the refrigerator was ample size for our food and drinks/cooling.
However, the bathroom had areas where the towel racks had been removed or had fallen and were not secure to the wall. No paint had been reapplied so it looked "unfinished". My TV did not work initially, and the "Manager" had to come up, WITHOUT WEARING A MASK, to trouble shoot the issue. I had mine on, and she should have had one herself. After 5-10 minutes she figured it out and it worked fine after that. We congregated with family at their AirBNB for most of the first night and the following day, Saturday, so our time in the hotel was limited. The noise is an issue, the "neatness" was not present and the lobby was like going thru two doorways and then entering a small, but adequate, space. Finally, a walk through by property maintenance to repair repaired areas and paint the areas not addressed after fixing certain fixtures should be done. Overall a good stay, very comfortable beds and interaction with staff, less the MASK ISSSUE, was polite and professional. So, I know Excellent to poor when it comes to motels/hotels. I give it a Great(based on New to Poor) New, Excellent, Great, Very Good, Good, Fair,...
Read moreI'll be honest and just say that I expected more from a Marriott Towneplace Suites. I knew it wouldn't be extravagant, but for the price, I was expecting more.||Let me start by saying that there were no major problems during the stay. The staff that we saw was very nice, but the only time we saw any staff was at check in and check out. There are two separate buildings, so check-in was in one building and our room was in the other, with a parking lot between. There is very little signage for the hotel. It was very difficult to see any signed of the hotel from the road. After eventually finding it from the road, there were no signs pointing to the entrance, except for a small "Welcome" sign that was hidden by all of the vehicles.|The security lock to the door in our building did not work and the door was completely unlocked so that anyone else could walk in. The first floor of our building smelled like weed the whole time we were there. The room was comfortable. The beds were very nice. The living area was very small. Again, not a big deal, but for the price they charge, I expected more. |The entire place needs some TLC, sofa and carpet is very outdated. Refrigerator had dent in the door and the burners on the stove were not property sitting on the stove. There was a sock on the steps that I saw when we checked in, and it was still there when we checked out the next morning.||It was mostly quiet, except the group above us must have been jumping around, we could hear them until about 11:30 one night.||I don't want to paint this place as being awful, because it wasn't awful. I don't think I would stay again, unless I was in a pinch. Mostly, when I pay what we paid to stay, I expected a little more.||Just also note, there was not much around the hotel as far as restaurants, etc. For me, it wasn't a big deal, but you're not within walking distance of much, at least not that I could see.||Again, it wasn't awful. You could do MUCH worse, but for the money, you could probably...
