This is our first time camping here during 4th of july weekend. Martin was initially super friendly and extremely informative. The campground looked a little dated but i didnt care as long as it was roomy and had full hook up. Even tho you couldnt bring outside wood, but wood was reasonably priced at $6/ bundle. There were only 1 bathroom facility but was never busy. Clean for the most part but dated. Maybe because it was full hook up sites and everyone was using their own bathroom inside their campers. Most of the stall doors have no locks and you have to hold the shower spigot handle to keep the water running. It was a bit challanging to shower and scrub one handed. I didnt realize cell service, tv antenna and free wifi signal was pretty bad where we parked and all around throughout the campsite. Not sure if towers were far away or some sort of interference. The campsite is very close 15 min walking distance to the nearest beach which was super convinient. Half of my family stayed in a hotel in holland and because the south haven fireworks was held on the 3rd i had asked my family to come to the campground so we could walk to the beach 1 hour before dusk and left right after we got back. We werent there at the campsite having parties or anything but i did have 4 additional cars parked by our site when we went to see the fireworks. We had plenty of rooms for the cars to park and it wasnt in anyones way. Clearly we werent there to party. He came with an angry tone asking who is staying at the campground as families were leaving. Partly my fault for not letting the office know i will have visitors so we can all walk to the beach, but it doesnt say i have to let them know either. What really bothered me was the day we checked out. he came and said check out is at 11am. It was around 12 to 12.30pm and we were all ready to go and camper was already hooked up and everything was already put away. I just needed to finish showering and drive off. The day before there were 4 campers left at around 3 to 3.30pm and the campground was pretty empty. Mind you the night before was extremely bad thunderstorms and packing takes a bit longer when everything is wet and full of dirt and sand. If there was another camper standing by to pull in i would have moved it, but no one was waiting. Ahh well. ............................................................. Update: 7/29. Reduced rating from 3 to 1. As I expected how he was going to response like how he responded to all other negative reviews. Oh and lies to on the response. There were 9 adults and 6 children Not 20+. No one sat around by the fire pass 10.30pm because we were all at the beach watching fireworks. When we came back to the campground everyone was packing their folding chairs and said bye and left. Yes i was the last person who took a shower after we packed everything and hooked up and all dirty and sweaty because it was extremely humid. Sad sad customer service! Make your own decision folks but shows the type of management you are dealing with when...
Read moreThis is an honest review. This place is the best bang for your buck in the area. The sites are NOT level, they flood and are muddy. The owner never rolls the sites, so there are many holes and soft spots....it's literally dangerous to walk out at night. He drives his golf cart at quiet time (10:30) with his lights off....so use caution if you drive in at that time, don't hit him. You have to mow your own lawn here, so be prepared for that. There are GIANT ground bees every year and they chase you...there is no way to get rid of them. Be advised that you will track, dirt, sand, mud and grass into your rig....have a spare pair of shoes in your car...muck boots help too, as your site WILL literally flood. There is ZERO internet here, even if you buy the internet package, you won't be able to get service, so dont bother buying it. Cell service here, is NON EXISTENT (all providers) and over the air TV is limited to 10 channels of yuck. The man owner Marty is very mean, he loves to yell at people, especially women, so don't complain about anything. When he treats the well water, beware, he uses so much bleach that the water isn't drinkable and will bleach your towels, when you do laundry. The dirt roads in this place are NEVER grated, they are so pot holed that your rig will toss and turn and things will fly out of your cupboards. He likes to think that it's his way of controlling the speed of through traffic, but that's a lie....he's too lazy to grate them. GIANT potholes all the time in here and it gets old, at 5 mph. Giant, lose your bike, potholes. Ugh. The UPSIDE of this place is the veteran residents...they are fun, inclusive and welcoming. The proximity to the lake is close...without the people and the location, this would be an angry, potholed, muddy, mean, trashy trailer park. An...
Read moreI made a reservation to spend the season at this park. I did sign a contract and it did say "no refunds", but a week after mailing in the $3500 I was diagnosed with Cancer. I emailed the owners and included a copy of my diagnosis and asked if they could make an exception. It wasn't like I changed my mind or was trying to be difficult. They said "we are very sorry that happened to you but our policy is no refunds". I did not like it but I had to accept it. They called me a few weeks ago and asked if I would like the site for next year! I said I don't think so and told them why. They tried to say they offered me 1/2 back, but it was my word against theirs.... and I know what was said. All I am trying to say is they don't make exceptions for any reason, and make sure you can make it for the season or you will be out all that $$. It's their RULE... regardless of if it is right or not.
UPDATE: All I can say is, don't believe everything you read, because some of what is said below is true, and some just is not true at all! I called a week after I sent the payment, the season HAD NOT already started..... I called in March... the season doesn't start until April 15... And I was not freely offered 50%, she said she would see if they could fill the spot and market it on Facebook and other places and if so THEN maybe 50% back. (It was NEVER marketed on Facebook) I was later told they had 2 other sites that were empty and it was a big loss for them. Regardless.... I just don't think it was handled in a compassionate manner. $3500 is a lot to lose for...
