We recently celebrated our daughter and son-in law's wedding at Lake Bomoseen Lodge. Our wedding coordinator Angela was amazing, and the head bartender Zanni helped us create an awesome custom wine and cocktail list. Angela anticipated our every need - I can't emphasize enough how stress-free the weekend was. The entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating both during the weeks and months of planning, and at the event. We were very pleased with the recommended vendors for photos, dessert, and music. Guests have option to stay in cottages, condos, or motel rooms. Our room was top floor of the Lake View Lodge which has a balcony just a few feet from the lake. We booked the 2 hour tiki boat ride for our afternoon rehearsal party - highly recommend! We ate dinner in the Taproom one evening - I recommend making reservations. Excellent pub style food with generous portions and a good beer list. We were able to host our own Friday evening gathering by the lakeside fire pit, which was great for a casual BYOB party of 40 guests. The Saturday afternoon wedding ceremony on the hilltop overlooking the lake (with utility vehicle rides to get you up there and back) was absolutely charming with gorgeous views. Cocktail hour was under the lakeside tent. If the weather had turned bad, we had the option of moving the ceremony and cocktail hour inside. The reception dinner and dancing was hosted in the Taproom top floor, which is such a pretty space that only flowers and minimal extra decor were needed to make it look amazing. The plated dinner service was actually delicious. We ended the evening with late-night snacks downstairs in the after-hours Taproom, and definitely recommend this option - it was a great way to unwind from the dancing and excitement. Sunday brunch was in the Taproom second floor; the hot food breakfast was greatly appreciated by our guests as the Lodge office only has cold breakfast options. It was the perfect venue for a wedding (and weekend-long party). Several guests even stayed an extra night and were happy they could bring their dogs, including the bride and groom whose dog was able to be part of the ceremony. LBL is an ideal location since everything is on site. We felt like this was our own personal family resort for...
Read moreWe had dinner at the Taproom last night and can honestly say it was the worst dining experience we've had in some time. The wait staff were all pleasant and polite and we were seated and served promptly. The newly renovated building is very nice. The food however was horrible. Every item on the menu is overpriced but there is a somewhat "captive audience" since the Taproom is connected with the lodging. Everything on the menu has hot spices in the recipe somewhere, whether it is horseradish sauce or chipotle mustard or whatever they use for blackening the steaks. If you can't tolerate hot spices go elsewhere. We thought we could ask for no spices and we did while ordering a blackened steak salad with blue cheese dressing on the side instead of the chipotle chimichurri dressing. Made that VERY CLEAR to the waiter. When our meals came they were drenched in that chipotle dressing so we asked that they could be sent back and corrected. They were sent back and returned with blue cheese dressing on the side and none in the salad itself. The steak, now cold, was so spicy we we ended up "washing" the slices in our water glasses to remove whatever was on it. When the waiter saw us doing that, he replaced our water but did not offer to compensate us in any way. Maybe we should have asked to speak with a manager but honestly we just wanted to get out of there. We won't go back because it isn't our preferred type of food and the changes we requested were ignored.Honestly a restaurant should be able to accommodate all diners, not just those who love chipotle. This morning, with blisters in my mouth from the spices used on the steak, I think future diners should...
Read moreOur wedding was essentially a destination wedding for everyone but us and everyone was SO impressed by…well everything. It’s such a beautiful location and the on site lodging made everything super convenient for all of our guests (one of our guests loved it enough that they extended their stay after the wedding to explore). Our ceremony was on their hilltop site but we were still able to use the other ceremony sites and one of their boats for photos throughout the day as well. I loved that they had so many separate spaces for cocktail hour, ceremony, reception, and just exploring between events. Another great thing about Lake Bomoseen is that they do catering in house and their food is TO DIE FOR! Our guests were ravening about how delicious everything was. We were also very impressed with how they handled allergies; we had a number of guests with gluten and/or dairy allergies and they worked with us and each guest to ensure that they had delicious, safe meals. They also have two amazing site coordinators who we couldn’t recommend more. We worked with Angela and she made everything such a dream. She worked with us ahead of the day answering any question we had to throw at her and giving us recommendations for vendors when we were trying to narrow things down. On the day of, she seemed to be everywhere putting together tables, bringing lunch to our getting ready room, and helping to cart guests around the property. We really can’t say enough good things about this venue and particularly...
