Lake Bomoseen Lodge Taproom — Restaurant in Castleton

My mother, father, and I came to this restaurant for mother's day and we arrived at about 7:00pm. We were seated relatively quickly and we ordered an appetizer and drinks. The appetizer came out in about 10 minutes and was very good. However, from that point on, our waitress barely visited our table. She saw that we had finished our app but still didn't come to ask for our orders. Once we eventually got our orders in, we sat and waited. The restaurant wasn't very busy and we watched as people came, got their food, ate, and went with still no sign of ours. We watched our waitress cater to other customers who were sat directly across from us but only stopped for us about 3 times. At that point it had been an hour and we were all beginning to become uncomfortable and tired. We tried to understand the fact that our waitress had been busy all day, as she said she had been working since 8, but at the same time, we continued to see tables of up to 6 people getting their food before ours even though they arrived after us. We saw multiple wait staff look at us as we got up to take walks and stretch but none of them ever said a thing to us. Eventually, we decided to go to the bar to get our check for the drinks and appetizer without our food and leave. The bartender saw my parents and decided to yell from the other side of the bar to ask what we wanted. She 100% knew exactly what we wanted as she had seen us sitting there for and hour and a half at that point. We asked for the check and she decided to get snappy with us and said it was coming out soon. They gave us the food in to go boxes and we received a $75 check which we paid, including a tip. The receipt said our order hadn't been put into the kitchen until 8:15. We ordered at about 7:30 so not putting our food in until 8:15 was absolutely unacceptable. We figured the waitress forgot to put in our ticket, but we never received any sort of apology or compensation. She made the mistake and absolutely should've admitted that but instead she tried to make us the assholes for being upset that our food didn't come for an hour and a half. We left at about 8:55 and ate our food at home and I will admit that it was very good, but it shouldn't have taken that long and we really didn't appreciate the bartender and waitress getting upset with us for a mistake...

We have been going here for years. The last three times have been a nightmare. The service was beyond slow, did not matter if the place was packed or empty. The food was meh. Tonight two of us ordered the brisket sandwich, one was fine, the other had one slice of meat on it. We sat at 7PM and were served at 8:17PM. A full 45 minutes after we were seated and had ordered we were informed that two of our orders were not available. I got a side salad and was charged for dressing?!? Never seen that happen before. We had to flag down random waitresses to have water sent to our table, were served our apps without plates, and as if that was not enough, as we were finishing up, they were cleaning up and a waitress hit me with a bag of garbage on her way out. We watched tables sit after us who were long gone before us. As I said we have been there mid day when the place was empty, and when it was packed. Doesn't matter the service is horrible lately, and the food is really downhill compared to what it was a year or two ago. I had two of the same drink, and they tasted completely different. Don't waste your time or money. Such a shame, it used to be one of our favorite...

Very nice looking rustic but upscale bar and restaurant overlooking the lake. Great views are available from many different tables inside and out. My group ordered a variety of menu items... a couple appetizers, pizza and sandwiches and everything came out quite good. There were no complaints and the portions were enough to where we took to go bags home. The place was very busy that evening and the staff were having to take care of many people at once, but still managed to keep drinks filled etc. Would try again!...
