I recently attended a college reunion at Sunnyside Tower. It was a lovely venue for a weekend with 20 friends. SST was nothing less than perfect. Julie (JuJu) and Peter were amazing hosts paying attention to every need and detail the entire weekend.
SST is a charming 1879 farmhouse located at the end of a long private driveway. When you arrive you are immediately surrounded by a beautiful backyard with lot of trees, flowers, an outdoor patio, chairs, tables, grills, firepit, outdoor games, bikes and plenty of parking. There is a sports center right next to the house which includes tennis, pickleball and basketball courts (equipment is available too). The house is spacious, immaculate, comfortable and filled with unique and interesting decor. It is perfect for large gatherings of any kind. The first floor includes a living room with plenty of seating, game table, a large TV and fireplace. A screened in porch is right off the living room and goes out to the backyard. There is a large dining room table right off the well appointed kitchen. There are several bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor for those who prefer one level living. The rest of the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the 2nd floor and a fun private room is located in the "Tower". All the bedrooms and bathrooms are clean, spacious and stocked with everything you need along with plush bath robes and slippers.
Lake Erie and the Catawba State Park are just a short walk away through several beautiful neighborhoods and perfect for long walks or bike rides. There are plenty of near by restaurants, charming stores and the beautiful Gideon Owen Winery with glass houses for private dining. If you are up for an afternoon adventure you can take the Ferry to Put-In-Bay.
Sunnyside Tower is beautiful and a must when planning your next vacation or special event. The pictures on their website are exactly what you will find when you open the door to this lovely property. Thank you Julie and Peter for making our weekend amazing. We plan on returning for...
Read moreWe had the most fantastic time at Sunnyside Tower for our family reunion in early August! We were 17 adults, 1 toddler and two babies, and the proprietors, Juju and Pete made sure that we all had everything we needed for a fun time and gave the most attentive care to our needs. There was a lovely assortment of snacks, cheese, deviled eggs, crackers, veggies, etc waiting for us when we arrived, along with fizzy drinks, cookies, granola bars and other snacks. The sun porch had toys to amuse the toddler and board games and cards for adults. There were bicycles, including a tandem one that guests could use, along with a well stocked fire pit, two grills ready to go, lawn games, and many outside and inside seating arrangements. The location is perfect- a short walk away from Lake Erie for sunset viewing, and adjourning an open park with two playgrounds and a lovely climbing and sledding hill. (The toddler loved climbing that hill and running around the soft grass on Sunnyside Tower’s 2-acre lawns.) Juju and Pete were beyond helpful, offering suggestions of places to see, places to eat or pick up food, snapping some photos for us, and there were so many other little things that made our stay great. One was the offer of a clean, soft and puffy king-sized comforter to place on the lawn, so that the babies could play and roll around outside in comfort. We really had such a lovely time, in a wonderful and historic home, and would heartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a special place for a reunion, wedding, group retreat, anniversary gathering or...
