ETA: As I stated in the review, housekeeping knocked on our door four times. My wife and I both spoke to them each time. We were not mistaken. Furthermore, as I stated, the housekeeper who had been knocking and to whom my wife spoke to face to face told us the housekeeping staff was almost done at the time we checked out. My call to Wyndham corporate to lodge a complaint was placed at 11:24am, from my car, after we checked out and had an interaction at the front desk. So, either the manager is lying about the housekeeping being busy and their start time, or, as I stated to the front desk, it was not vital we exited our room in a hurry. Making phone calls to guests at departure is fine. Being rude to them and telling them to get out is unacceptable. It simply doesn't make sense Melissa would choose today to make her first rude comment, followed by a housekeeper who followed suit. That comes from a manager who sets a poor example.. There is no way to spin a response to make it OK. Again, the behavior and our experience as guests was unacceptable. ..........................................
We gave this hotel a shot but never again. The rudest service in 25 years of travel. We didn't have high or unrealistic expectations since this is an older Super 8 next to a truck stop, but we were certainly surprised by the terrible service.
On the morning of checkout, housekeeping started knocking at 930, wanting us to leave. At 11am sharp, after the 3rd round of knocking, we received a call from Melissa at the front desk who said, "It's 11am and we need you to check out as soon as possible." I replied, "OK, we're getting ready to leave." Not satisfied with that answer, Melissa said, rudely, "OK, well can you leave?"
ARE YOU SERIOUS!?! Of all the hundreds of hotels we've stayed in, never have we been spoken to with such rudeness. The disdain for the customer was absolutely ridiculous.
They hotel wasn't full the previous night, there was no bus waiting to check in, and the staff was NOT done for the day. There were multiple carts in the hall.
At the front desk we encountered a woman, not Melissa, who was also less than friendly. It took her forever to get our receipt, which she begrudgingly printed after grilling us about how we made our reservation.
When I mentioned how ironic it was that we were hounded to get out of the room but had to wait on her slow service, she offered nothing. When I asked if her housekeeping was done for the day, she said they almost were. Which wasn't true, clearly, by the multiple carts in the hallway, and ample time for the staff to be on their smoke break.
And then, to top if all off, she walked away mid conversation, which I pointed out. She said, I'm not going to argue with you.
100% unacceptable. Never again.
There is no excuse for the behavior...

Let's get the "down side" out of the way and move on to the good stuff. This is a 2-star property, which has absolutely nothing to do with it's quality. It doesn't have an elevator or 2 ice machines on every floor or 46" widescreen TVs in the rooms, so, if you're looking for a property offering a lot of high-end amenities, this might not be your cup of tea. That's done. Let's move on.
This IS a very solid property. It is clean and well-appointed, in both the public areas and the rooms. There is a very nice area with indoor pool and whirlpool, and a pleasant common area across from the front desk where breakfast is served and a couple PCs are available. The rooms are comfortable, clean and nicely appointed. I have slept well in their beds, which is a big plus for me!!
The biggest thing the Super 8 by Wyndham Cedar Falls has going for it is the people they have serving their guests. The general manager is a passionate advocate for the people who come through the door, and she has surrounded herself with like-minded support personnel. They want you to have a great stay and want to come back again. A lot of other places may talk the same talk, but few deliver the way they do here.
My stay at the Super 8 by Wyndham Cedar Falls has been memorable, and I look forward to my return!! Come find out...
Read moreThis hotel while convenient to many areas in the Cedar Falls/UNI area seems outdated and in need of some renovation. Overall it was clean and comfortable but the pool area was not very clean or properly maintained. There were wet towels on the floor with water all over the walkways and no visible caution signs or any safety measures around. The lighting inside was poor and the water was extremely cloudy and had what appeared to be mold spores or some sort of material floating on the surface. Front desk staff was notified but the clerk did not seem receptive to our concerns and sadly our 5 year old daughter did not get to swim as we had promised her. The room itself was decent and clean and the bed was comfortable although the mattress seemed very squishy and outdated. Overall we found the hotel a good value for what we needed but feel it’s important to make others aware of this place’s conditions. We would advise looking at other options around the area as there are several nearby. However if you’re looking for a cheap decent bed with hot breakfast and quietness then this place is fine. Parking was good and the staff did make up to my daughter by giving her some candy upon checkout and that clerk seemed much more...
