I travel all over the country for work and stay in hotels for 90% of the year, and this has been my best hotel experience to date. I have lived here for the last 8 months and I can not put into words how awesome the staff and owners are, I can honestly call them all friends. While staying in the hotel I realized that I would be here for a long period of time, and given that this hotel is not made for an extended stay experience, having no kitchens, I was not sure how I was going to make it and one day I was speaking to the owner and made a simple request for a larger refrigerator if they had one available and he told me that he would see what he could do, later that evening when I arrived back to my hotel I was surprised with a brand new microwave and large apartment size fridge with a freezer. How many of you can say you've ever had a hotel go out of their way to accommodate you without charging extra??? Well these guys did for me! Eventually I decided to purchase a sports car, and not only did they allow me to keep my second vehicle here free of charge, but they also took the time to clear out their only garage space and allowed me to store my car in it throughout the winter....AWESOME! I was also stuck in town for Thanks Giving and Christmas and guess what they did, yup they invited me to have dinner with them on both occasions. Its like a small family here and they treat you as one of their own! Now besides all of the out of the norm special experiences I've already mentioned, I would like to point out a few small yet great things to be had here, for one room service comes by and cleans your room daily, I have noticed that the bed sheets and pillow cases are changed every couple of days, and all bedding, including blankets/comforters are changed biweekly This is something NO other hotel that I have been to does! The rest of the room is cleaned as well including the bathroom which also appears to get a deep cleaning twice a week. I have left money out all over the room and have not ever found as much as a penny missing and that's over the course of 8 months with several different cleaners coming through. Next I would like to explain that prior to coming here I was very skeptical of the place from viewing it online as it looked like an older hotel, but I must say they keep up with everything and the inside of the hotel looks new, so don't let the older exterior appearance ward you off as the rooms are large with ample desk and storage space, there's recliners, flat screen TV's with HDMI inputs for those of us who bring our own blue-ray players or to hookup your laptops. The Beds although not the most luxurious and comfortable beds I've ever slept in are quite nice and you will not find it hard to sleep in at all. Next I would like to mention the exceptionally reasonable pricing, with pricing this low you would think that you're probably going to be located in the "ghetto" or staying at a motel 6, and both of those statements couldn't be farther from the truth!!!! Call ahead for reservations as their prices are actually lower than what you could find online, but they hotel books up quick and stays busy, and while on the subject of the hotel staying busy, I would like to mention that I never once heard a single one of the neighbors next door which allowed me to sleep in peace!!!! another small thing to be noted before I finish I that the cheapest fuel in town is at the gas stations right across the street, the hotel is right off interstate 55 and 1 exit south of interstate 80, which puts it at the perfect location 45 minutes south of downtown and less than an hour west of Indiana and minutes away from Joliet restaurants and shopping! I must say that I'm sad to be leaving and I sure am going to miss...
Read moreI always do research online before my husband and I go out of town for work. We know we will be in work locations anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months, so we want clean, comfortable, and with certain amenities, but we also try to find affordable rates so as not to eat up all our travel expense pay on lodging alone.||||That said, I read many positive reviews on Manor Motel and someone I worked with also stayed there for a few weeks back in May and had a great stay. There was also an article from a local paper about how it was a historical building and that the owners were working on remodeling it throughout, blah, blah, blah. There were pictures of the somewhat quirky, older, but well cared for rooms on their motel websites. Everything seemed kosher, so I called and they said they allowed pets, so I made a reservation.||We arrived late on a Saturday night after driving all the way up from Texas, so just unloaded the truck and crashed. At the front desk we were told we were going to be "in the back because we put all the pet people in the back." The owners were there for our check-in, were familiar with the details of our stay, and very friendly.||||I had asked for a non-smoking room, but when we opened the door, our room reeked terribly of cigarette smoke, but we were so tired at that point that we didn't care. The bed was hard. The next day my hair smelled like I had been in a smoky bar for hours the night before, the cigarette smell was so strong in the room. We also noticed how terribly dirty the room was, and the fridge was disgusting inside, but we bought some febreeze and things to clean it and since the room was huge and cheap, we decided to stay. ||||On Tuesday morning my husband was sitting on the bed watching TV and someone went into the room without knocking, even though there was a do not disturb sign on the door. He hurriedly said he was "sorry" and shut the door. My husband stuck his head out to question the man but there was no longer anyone outside, so he went up front to the desk to see if it was someone who works for the motel. Apparently the man worked maintenance for the motel, and was in the lobby when my husband got there. He cursed at my husband, calling him an "m-f-er" and other things, and when my husband questioned the clerk, he said he "didn't know what to do" because "I only work here 1 day a week." My husband then asked to file a complaint, but was told all that could be done was for the clerk to personally tell the manager what happened. When my husband went outside to go back to our room, the maintenance man was waiting outside the motel entrance and followed my husband back to our room, insulting and cursing him the entire way. ||||I convinced my husband to stick it out for a few more days (it was 5 minutes from work), but two days later, the people in the room next to us started brawling, throwing things against the wall, and the man kept yelling at the woman about how he was going to kill her. ||||We decided then that we were leaving. We are not used to staying in the kind of places where that type of behavior takes place. When we checked out, the owner acted like he didn't believe what I was telling him. Oh, and the room was also infested with silverfish, which will eat up your clothes as badly as moths. Also, I think most of the people in the back area may live there, and so we did not once see housekeeping come by the room in the week we were there. Apparently that's also not a problem they have in the front remodeled section...
Read moreRoom 124 I dont know why people are putting kind reviews in this section. Id much rather have rude people but a clean enviroment. This place STINKS! How in the hell they are allowed to keep this place going is beyond me! It REEKS of black mold and it is visible especially in the shower. And the floor--- the one thing I can't stand the most is a nasty floor and this carpet is the nastiest I've ever seen! I'd post pics of it but don't know how. There are pictures on here already from a previous unhappy customer and yes that really is what the floor looks like. It's all stained with something red and brown. Looks like they didn't even try to clean it. And there is old dust bunnies caked up against the corner where the wall meets the floor. Don't waste your money here. I wish I had kept scrolling but we needed to get to the closest one. I'll put it this way, I've stayed in hotels that you'd expect to be bad that was better than this one. I can't wait to...
