Clean, cozy, and beautiful! Nestled into a mountain side with views overlooking the Berkshires mountains. Cabins have that fresh wood smell and are very comfortable, with lighting and keypad door locks! Downward facing solar lights turn on for you as you walk the paths at night and everything is off the grid. Running - HOT - water in the bathroom and a big sink for washing dishes in the kitchen pavilion. Flattop and traditional gas grills, bar seating, picnic tables, and a very comfy outdoor couch set complete the kitchen setup. Cooking utensils and everything you need included. Free firewood and Adirondack chairs that match their orange sign (nice touch) around the big fire pit. Hammock pavilion for chillin! The sounds of the forest all around you. The bathrooms are SO CLEAN and they even put a little hanging shower caddy in to hold your things. Show up with your clothes, a sleeping bag, and your cooler... that's all you need. As a festival camper, lightweight travel and no setup is music to my ears. Of course you may want your kayak, bike, and other toys for all the nearby mountain fun right in Charlemont and the surrounding towns. I can't stop talking about this place and can't wait to go back and do more exploring! Almost forgot to mention the amazing hosts Katie & Pat... seriously, you couldn't ask for better people to be running the show.

Foolhardy Hill is the nicest facility that I have ever "Camped". I used quotes, because this is NOT a "roughing it" Campground. Katie and Biddy, the host/owners are the nicest and most accommodating. This "off the grid" place is convenient, comfortable, spotless clean and I would HIGHLY recommend a stay. I would also recommend renting the entire facility for a family reunion, off site business meeting, fishing club meeting, or just a place to meet up with a bunch of old friends... The bathrooms are clean and the showers are HOT. The pavilion provides a meeting place for groups, maybe discuss the day's catch, the one that got away, or just to meet new friends. The pavilion also has everything you will need for grilling, flat top cooking and 2+ gas burners. I was here for fishing. Foolhardy is located centrally for the best the Deerfield River has to offer. Pets welcome, but leave the little ones at home (unless renting the entire facility). If I have to leave just ONE negative comment; after the shower, the mirror above the sink was VERY fogged! (Did i mention, the showers are HOT!) :-)

This was seriously THE BEST campground I have ever stayed at! I was on a no kids mom weekend and this place couldn’t have been more perfect. Bathrooms are spotless and new, Cabins are amazing, clean and mattresses are comfortable (they are thick and feel like an actual bed!). What was amazingly unique was the owners truly welcome you and ensure you have a good stay. They are knowledgeable about the area and so many different places to go, especially if you want to know where is the best place to swim or see the sunset. The outdoor kitchen was fully stocked and I never realized how much of a difference that makes when packing and unpacking for a camping trip. There are opportunities to have your private nature experience or commune around the fire getting to know some of the others staying there. It truly was a unique experience and we will definitely be staying here often. I already told my husband to start looking at dates for a kid free getaway. Plus you can’t beat the price when you realize what a gem you just found. I highly recommend.

I can't stop gushing about how much I enjoyed this campground experience! I have been camping for 32 years and this was one of the most comfortable experiences I can remember. We decided to have a girls weekend at Foolhardy, some of us were local to Western Ma, but many came from the eastern part of the state and we of course overpacked! You only need to bring bedding, clothing, food, and your tubes or kayaks. The cabins are adorable, with comfortable beds, plenty of space for storage and relaxing twinkle lights. We loved sitting in the community kitchen, sharing food with the other campers, lounging on the couches, and basking in the glow of the soft solar lights. The entire campground has well places motion lights so you can easily find your way around without a flashlight. The firepit was great with comfortable chairs and firewood provided for you (what campground does that?!!?). The bathrooms were GLORIOUS- absolutely sparkling clean, free hot showers, with more privacy than the average campground bathhouse offers. We went hiking to a beautiful triple waterfall at the suggestion of the owner, Kate, and then went tubing in the afternoon. After check out Kate suggested we check out Shelburne Falls which is an adorable town where the new season of Dexter was just filmed! Even though I do not live far from Foolhardy, I felt like I was far away on vacation. It is such a great spot to load up minimal gear and go enjoy yourself with some pals. It's also dog friendly which is always a win! Do yourself a favor and book this incredible spot whether you live a few towns over or hours away you'll be itching...
