Gorgeous, much cooler temps then just 30 minutes down the mountain. Serene lake w a lake loop trail. Swim area with a $2 fee that was not asked for at this time. Campsite was $15 fee, not sure if it had showers or water, but it did have compost toilets and trash cans. Few people there at early may. Great campsites w a beautiful view. Spectacular place to bring family late may to early august for swimming and just relaxing. Local mountain bike trails are fun to walk on, and of course the views are spectacular everywhere. No clear cut devastation here, or at least it’s been awhile since, unlike talladega national forest (which was super sad 😢). I highly suggest staying out all summer to see this beautiful country with your family and friends! Living a mellow life, efficiently, with only what you need/ love/ actually use, so that you can have the time to appreciate simple things. Won’t get much cell phone reception up here, so download ur movies and video games to ur iPad to play when u get here.

A great escape into the mountains! And into the mountains you have to go. The road is unimproved, very rocky and bumpy. Can take 45 mins to get up if in a low vehicle. Otherwise wow! Had a blast here with friends. The camp hosts are phenomenal, kind as can be, helped us with some much needed supplies and even a bit of firewood. The lake is nice, good for fishing but only one spot for swimming. Great trails all around for hiking. You can even hike up to a local fire tower! Unfortunately not able to climb up the tower but still a fun hike. This place is isolated with bare minimum cell service and an hour ride to the closest store. Bring everything you need the first time!

Really nice campground. Water spigots at each site. The lake is very pretty and has a trail around it. (The only thing we found out while driving there was that you need to make reservations ahead of time. There is a sign posted at the look out to do this...and with limited cell connection "at the look out", we managed to make reservations online). Bring your own firewood and supplies as there isn't a general store. There are restrooms throughout the campground. Cold water only to wash hands no soap. No bath houses. The campground rules are posted, read them please and respect them. I hope you put this campground on your gotta do list while driving big frog loop!

Used to go there quite often, not anymore. It’s ridiculous what a price hike they did when went to reservation only. Before it was 3-10$ pay as you come slowly increasing over 15 years, now it jumped to 25$ a night. For what? They even have no host there anymore. Bears are more and more prevalent with garbage bins and campers coolers attacked at night several times we stayed. Las time both restroom buildings were a disaster, like a st bomb went off there with st even on the walls. Many camp sites are smaller than van/RV length indicated. Well you can fit it there in theory, but you will have no room for anything else. Not worth the torture of 20 miles of rough unpaved mountain...
